Isn't it obvious? The GTX480, the fastest single GPU on the world now, and he asks if it can run crysis, which was made in year 2007? I call thi a fail question :)
Go play something else, thefrenchdraggon, there are many much better games out there nowadays...
Yeah, it's quite a difference, since I could put up the AA up to 4 times at the same fps and the same res. as 9800GTX but without 4x AA. And we all know that AA is a really big "FPS eater"...
Nah, I wouldn't go with ther HD4870 if you already have the HD4770...
If I were you, I would look for HD5850 and nothing less. And you can get even GTX285 for very cheap money now, since HD5xxx series compete with the fastest nvidia chips now.
hey nice video can you help me i want to buy a 4870 but do the 512mb version with 1gb version give the same performance or less because the 512 is cheaper that's why
Brother, me again, help me what you think is better i bought a Phenom II 720 today now i need to know the better to use with crysis 1440x900 to play without lags, hd4850 1gb or hd4870 512? thx a lot xD always watching this movie ^^!
Well, A HD4870 would definately be a better choice for Crysis. Phenom X3 720 you mean? Yeah it's a nice CPU, fast in gaming. Also you should check for the same priced X4 620. Overclocks high aswell so you don't need to worry.
am no... It's on XP SP2, cos of better FPS. DX10 in Crysis isn't really DX10. It's a pretty damn good DX9. THat's why u can download very high mod for XP to simulate "DX10" on XP and DX9. U couldn't simulate real DX10 on DX9.
why do you onyl have 2 gigs of ram when ram is so cheap nowadays. You could easily get 4 gigs of ram for 30 bucks off newegg. Theres 2 gb packages for 19.99 each. Spend 20 bucks and get a 2 gb kit and youll see a big boost in speed!
Wait so you upgraded your computer from a month ago to an Intel Core i7 920? And A month ago you just upgraded your system from the 6550 to an 8400? Also your PSU u upgraded from a Corsair 750 watt to a 850 watt? Seems kinda pointless.
My Rig:Antec 900 Rev 2.0 Case
Intel Core 2 Quad 3.4GHZ
Dual EVGA 8800GT's SuperClocked running at 735mhz core/1850mhz Shaders/2.2ghz Memory
My whole point is - upgrade now, sell ur PC's components while they're still valuable, and pay 40€ more per component and have yourself a new, better comp.
For me, buying a comp for, let's say, 2 years in advance is pointless. It's not worth it giving 1000€ at once for the whole new system, while u can upgrade slowly for lower costs ;)
I'm thinking of buying that one or the Deluxe, I don't get the difference though haha. Except that the "-E" is cheaper, and that is certainly a good thing ^^
Well both are very good, but, the deluxe model has a nice trick under it's sleeve :P
P5Q-E is a very good overclocker. It uses 8 phase power supplying (don't know how to say that in english lol), but the deluxe option uses tha same phase power supply than the Maximus Formula, if I remember right. It's 16 phases. So the Deluxe should be even more stable, although the P5Q-E is enough :P
hey dude i need some help i wanna build a new system this month don't want an expensive pc just for gaming at all this year and if it could the next one but i don't know if you could help me to choose a lcd cuz don't know if my hd4850 can run crysis or far cry 2 with AA and higher settings on a 1680x1050 so you think is a good idea to buy a 20" monitor or a 19" cuz i think in 1400 x 900 caould run better so, what do you think? i'm thinking of get a phenom x3 and 4 gigs of ram
Well I've completely updated my comp with next components:
- E8400 @ 4ghz
- Mushkin redline 2x2gb
- Asus p5Q-E
Corsair 750W
- HD4870 512mb
But - If you OC the E6550@3Ghz, I guarantee u that it will not bottleneck ur GPU. Tested it with E6550 @ 3.2Ghz and E8400 @ 4ghz in Crysis. The difference is minimal. If u have a proper motherboard, and any knowledge of OC, it shouldn't be hard to OC E6550 on 3Ghz or more.
Well, it'll be my first time overclocking, but I'm following a good guide and I have a P31 motherboard.. Do you think that is a reasonable one for overclocking?
yeah, to provide airflow over all the watercooled parts such as HDD, motherboard parts, RAM etc. always a good idea and tbh if you spend that much on watercooling, why not spend another $20 on a couple of fans lol
I'm just wonderin... what would it be like with a 1010W PSU, would it be bad for my PC(2gbRAM,dual core 3.02Ghz OCd)? saw that for sale the other day... nice vid :P
There's a lot of reviews showing how to fix that problem. The trick lies in the ATI Cat. Control Center. You change a few files and yet you have a GPU which wont go over 55c even OC'ed
Uff, the card OC's as hell :) The most interesting part is, that you can easily OC it on high frequencies, but you won't gain much on temperature ;) You can try and load the Diamond bios, and you'll have one hell of a monster in ur comp :)
BUT - Spare some on your VRAM, because it's not hard to kill GDDR5 with high frequencies...
Lol, nice system, I just order dual 4870 X2's and 8 gigs of DDR3 2000 mhz ram with a Q9550 cpu on a asus rampage extreme mobo. and for a PSU im getting a 1200W thermal take what ever they are.
Heh... For that kind of money, I would invest and wait for a nehalem socket, a proper motherboard, and I would absolutely chop down the 8GB of DDR3 as you don't need it anywhere. 4GB of DDR3 is more than enough man... And you don't need 2 HD4870x2 ;) Even HD4870 in CF is more than enough.
Well, if you set AA to 0x then it should spit cca. 55FPS on ultrahigh. But on 1280x1024.
But it really depends of the map itself. THere are maps, where you can play with 40FPS on Very High on 1680x1050, and there are maps which simply won't be playable if you don't lower the resolution on 1280x1024.
A single HD4870X2 is more than most applications require with filters, and is alot more than drivers can pump up.
Never go overkill with these kind of things, you'll only end up extremely disapointed and feeling your wallet is alot lighter. Get a single HD4870X2 at top, absolute top 4GB memory (DDR2/3) and a high-quality 750/850W PSU.
Nice angle, we can see the frames per seconds all the time in your video...
Thank you for posting this man, give me a really good idea about the performance of the card, and maybe I'll buy it, I'll see, because if I buy this card, I'll probably play longer time on my pc, and I don't want to lost my life in front of a pc you know ?
Not really, but get's very close. Put HD4870 in crossfire, and you get a better performance (for less money) than a GTX280, sometimes, the HD4870 in crossfire is even better than GTX280 in SLI!! That's wicked :)
So, I have the card, OCed to 790/1050 (stock is 750/900, but the temperatures won't change. The card does not produce any additional heat if OCed - that's amazing). With this setup and my E6550@3.2Ghz H20, I get around 35-40FPS on average on 1680x1050. Remember, this is still the same even in heavy fights.
i am thinking of buying a new pc with this card and i wonder if you can chack the fps when you run it on dx9 high(not v.high)1680x1050 and 4aa cause i wont have vista.
Around 50fps on 1280x1024 all very high AA 4x. On 1680x1050 aroud 45FPS all very high AA 0x. But there really is no difference between AA stages. Really.

Around 50fps on 1280x1024 all very high AA 4x. On 1680x1050 aroud 45FPS all very high AA 0x. But there really is no difference between AA stages. Really.
