I've photographed and listened Dayna twice on stage - what she does is so fenomenal. She emulates, no she revives the original 1930 version of Lucienne Boyer... I heard all earlier versions first ear when young: Mouskouri is far too sweet, Juliette Greco and Dalida are both gorgeous, but lack poignancy, soul, empathy... Leona's comment in french: "Dayna is not traitorous to Lucienne" is true. I would add: she brought it even further, thanks to the extra dimension of her exquisite guitar play.

I like Nana Mouskouri's version of this song almost as well as Lucienne Boyer's. Dalida also does a nice rendition of this beautiful melody. I prefer all of these before Dayna Kurtz's version.
