im a survivor of pulmonary embolism as of august 2011 it was scary hospitalized for two days on morphine it was difficult im doing better now still on warfarin. Im glad you came out of it ok but the thought of being in a coma for three days is really got to be tough. with my blood clot i coughed up blood did you with the one's in your lungs?
1. I used the nuvaring back in 2006. The same day I put it in I had a horrible migraine (I never had migraines before). Called the gyno she said she had never heard of that side effect. I kept it in & the migraine passed. (7 months later I was diagnosed with a rare form of migraine I don’t know if Nuvaring triggered something). While I was on Nuvaring I gained weight, had mood changes, etc. I eventually went on Zoloft for 2 months.
2. After 5 months on nuvaring & 2 months on Zoloft I stopped them both. When I came off I had an unusual episode where I became horribly depressed could not get out of bed, the whole nine. That lasted approx. 5 days. Instead of the doctor attributing it the Zoloft or Nuvaring, that I just came off, she said I may have had a psychological break & was Bi-polar, because I came of the medication 1 WEEK prior & it should have left my body already. SMH
3. Needless to say I am fine now & have not had an episode like that again. I trust these doctors less & I am weary of medication. Doctors put so much faith in medication that if a person reacts out of the ordinary to a med, instead of thinking it’s the medication they pin it on the person & don’t acknowledge pple react differently. No more hormonal birth-control for me. I am really sorry about what u had to go through. Thanks for sharing so ppl can make an informed decision about their health.

People shouldn't peg all of this to one drug. The side effects are plainly written on the package, if you take the risk or not is yours to decide. I'm sorry about what happened to you, but you should blame the company, maybe your doctor if you weren't informed of the risks? I hope your doing better. Weight gain can be caused by birth control, but that is acrossed the board with all hormonal b/c.

My daughter went on Nuvaring, and had a stroke 2 months into taking it. I have been contacted by attorneys who are interested in representing us. But I haven't decided on one yet. This is serious stuff. Sixteen year old girls should NOT be having strokes!!!

Well I was on Depo and I had a baby 4 months b4 and had after baby bleeding problems too I had to get 4 blood transfusions so I know how it is girl but I was really stubborn I was taking care of my daughter by myself and too suborn to go to the hospital I was a day and a half away from death so I learned to try and if I have any problems not to use it again....

you can try it and it may work for you, but just know that there are adds on tv even for yasmin, yas and nuvaring warning people that there is a serious case of cloting and deaths caused by the 3. I would use a diferent kind of birth control
@RiverMommas there are some non-hormonal methods of birth control like the male/ female condom diaphram/cap with spermacide n.f.p and simply spermacide (although i would not reomend using spermacide alone) all of these can be just as effective as hormonal methods especially when combined for example using a male condom with spermacide and a diaphram will prove to be an extremly effective way of prevent pregnancy but also s.t.i's hope this helped if not feel free to ask more questions :)

I agree, but it also states if you are over 40 and smoke... nonsmokers in their 20s feel like there is no risk... they need to word it better, such as "it can cause death to anyone who uses it, especially 40 and smokers."

I'm wondering how you made the connection between the blood clots and the Nuvaring. Did the doctor blatantly tell you it was due to the Nuvaring?

@InfamousSlate the nuvaring is interfering with hormonal level in our body. the synthetic estrogen in release can cause the liver to produce more clotting factor, causing people have more tendency to have blood clot. this is worsen if the user has Leiden disease (usually european) because their blood clotting mechanism is already diseased. everybody should check for leiden disease and other blood clot disease (by asking their gyne doctor) before using nuvaring or patch.

@InfamousSlate the blood clotting tencency can cause blood thrombosis in the vein usually in the leg and, especially in long standing people and less mobile people.This can travel to the right heart thus to the lung.This can cause acute blocking of the pulmonary artery. the most affected people is the one who already have the lung ischemia caused by blockage of nutritive bronchial artery. however, evn she doesnt have the bronchial artery obstruction, she might suffer the right heart hypertension

there was no slander involved... every thing I stated was true and I have medical documintation to back it, I never said you will die by using it, simply that you can. I dont feel they stress that enough in comercials. all I am doing is trying to help others know just what they are puting in their body befor its too late. and yes I am sorry that McCain lost too

This makes me so glad I took mine out as soon as it started makeing me feel like crap!! I feel sooo bad for what happened to you!! I was sooo scared for weeks after I took mine out that there was something wrong!! Makes you wonder if you could take them through the ringers financially for everything that you have been through, but the fact that we are told the risks b4 hand, may screw u there!! You baby is beautiful!! I'm so glad that you made it through and are able to be there with her!
