This video portrays a more or less positive, or at worst neutral, view of Reza Shah. Given that he was a lot tougher on the Clergy than his weak son, it is a bit surprizing that IR has come up with this version of events. I am not familiar with the role of Fardoust.

The propagandist and the spin doctors of the Islamic Republic have unsuccessfully tried many times to revise and distort the history of Iran. But in the final analysis it all boils down to this that there are two kinds of Iranians out there. a) Those who believe in all the crap the IRI says and b) those who don't. In Iran it is quite common that the rulers in power distort the history of our country to their advantage (this has been done by both Pahlavis and Mullahs alike. Also by those before them).

But as far as Fardoost is concerned, he was the closest person to the Shah for many years. He was no mole. He was one of the most trusted persons in the Shah's court. He just did not want to leave his country and escape.

There is a third group also: those who believe in neither the Shah nor the Mullahs.

Fardoost's eventual show of loyalty towards his master just goes to show what kind of a person Shah was. Would he have been considered a true friend if he had ordered the killing demonstrators. If your answer is yes, then you have a twisted and sick interpretation of words true friend and loyalty.
