hi paddy, nice that you worked in the names of your folk club buddies. i guess the song is an original fiction, but there is so much detail in the lyric that it feels like you are reporting an actual news type event. very creative enterprise and a unique idea for a song. i am probablly wrong about this, but to my ear it sounds like maybe your guitar is tuned to a lower pitch or something. maybe just a different key, or more likely, my imagination. thanks for such a fun listen, peace, chuck

@chuxtrux Hi Chuck,A fiction indeed, but I've eaten with most of the older guys often enough to know just what we'd be like at an eating contest: eyes bigger than our stomachs! Unlike the younger fellers, of course, whose appetite is boundless, as mine was 40 years ago.

Many thanks for your kind comments. Maybe my guitar sounds odd because I'm playing with the capo on the 4th fret and the accompaniment is very basic but the instrument is in concert pitch.

@Kittielips She sounds very wise - you don't want to waste good food, do you? I like the way that in American restaurants they automatically give you a doggie bag to take home anything you can't finish. There's usually enough food for three people on each plate.

@kidderminsterbro Hi Rich, breakfast is a funny meal: I usually have just cereal and a banana, and that's enough to keep me going until lunchtime, but I'm very easily tempted to follow it up with a full English fry-up and then a pile of toast and marmalade. Strangely, that keeps me going till lunch-time as well!
