Great series. One thing that I thought about in this series is the real huge difference between how Crosby and Ovechkin play. Ovechkin shoots anywhere on the ice at any time and most of the time you'll find Crosby by the net to clean up the trash with his quick hands. Imagine how incredible of a duo these guys would make if they were on the same team based on their two different styles.

This will go down as one of the greatest games in Penguins history. The Penguins are basically facing elimination, a 3-0 lead would have ended it. Ovechkin scores 1:23 in, the Pens storm back and Letang scores an OT goal for the ages. There is not a more awesome sound than the post that Letang hits on the winning goal. Phenomenal, Lets go Pens

Varlamov's been the difference. That kid is simply amazing, and judging by his positioning and timing, it's no fluke.
Except for the Eaton goal which was terrible, he's been a stud and unless it's a rebound or off one of their players, he's played perfectly. I just hope he has a meltdown like Hiller did yesterday, or else it's going to be tough to come back in the series.

The Caps have more talent because they finish their shots and actually put the puck in the net. Crosby may be playing well, but one man doesn't make a team. defensemen Mark Eaton's four goals has more goals than all Pens forwards other than Crosby and Malkin. And Gonchar has only one playoff tally. Satan, Kunitz, Cooke, Dupuis , Sykora and Staal, are just a few of the forwards yet to score. The only Caps forward yet to score are fourth liners Fehr, Clark, (and the suspended) Brashear.
By the way I wonder when the last time was that in a playoff series the team that scored first in 3 consecutive games lost. Maybe the pens should let the caps score first tomorrow....lol

This game we had fedotenko, malkin, and letang score, crosby got looks. If the forwards continue to pick it up, we'll win this series no doubt

The Caps are the more talented team with THREE great lines actually producing, and Varlamov playing better than Vezina favorite Thomas (leading the playoffs with 1.64 GAA and is second in the playoffs with a .942 save percentage). So sit down, shut up and accept the fact that as a team the Caps have played better in this series, and in the one game the Caps were greatly "outplayed" it took a deflected shot nearly 10 minutes into overtime to beat them.

The pens have out shot the caps in every game so how are the caps the better team? the ONLY reason why the caps won those games are beacause of Varlamov. As a TEAM the pens are better, the caps won each game by only 1 point and they never dominated the pens at any point during a game.

I have to say (even as a Caps fan) that the OT goal was probably the biggest of the series / playoffs for the Pens.
Think about it, if the Caps win that game, the Pens would have been down 3-0..
I'll always remember this as the last game of the '09 playoffs where Varlamov played well too.. games 4-5-6-7 he was horrible.

One other comment.... I love after the Pens win in OT and they show the shot of the crowd and there are people running for the exits. If you do that, you are totally lame and need to get a life bigtime. You pay all that money to go and cheer your team on, why beat it out of there so fast? Varlamov's been the difference. That kid is simply amazing, and judging by his positioning and timing, it's no fluke.
Except for the Eaton goal which was terrible, he's been a stud and unless it's a rebound or off one of their players, he's played perfectly. I just hope he has a meltdown like Hiller did yesterday, or else it's going to be tough to come back in the series.

All of you bitching and moaning about penalties really have no idea what you are talking about. WHEN YOU ARE CHASING THE OTHER TEAM THE ENTIRE GAME YOU ARE GOING TO DRAW MORE PENALTIES. IN ADDITION, THE HOMETEAM IS USUALLY MORE LIKELY TO GET THE CALLS THAN THE AWAY TEAM, IN ANY SPORT. This game never should have been close, the whole second period looked like a Pens PP. Cheapest goal of the playoffs in the first minute because of a ridic bounce and that was about it. Outshot in every game.

yeah if i didn't get vs then i would be extremely pissed off. not just the NBA but bassball is always on basic cable i mean come on. I don't mind watching a bassball game now and then but hockey is way more exciting especially the playoffs. I get your other points too but regardless of who is better and what not you have to admit that the pens and caps are pretty evenly matched, i don't see either team getting a huge win over the other.

Sykora and Satan played with Malkin, and Staal is third line. I do agree with you on one point though. People need to shut up with the Bettman conspiracy crap. Even IF (and that's big if) the game was rigged, if it gets the NHL on basic cable again I'm all for it. Seriously ESPN is broadcasting NBA playoff game blowouts (Cavs won by nearly 20pts and led by 30pts), while the Canucks-Hawks 2-1 OT game wasn't even on ESPN2.

The Caps have more talent because they finish their shots and actually put the puck in the net. Crosby may be playing well, but one man doesn't make a team. defensemen Mark Eaton's four goals has more goals than all Pens forwards other than Crosby and Malkin. And Gonchar has only one playoff tally. Satan, Kunitz, Cooke, Dupuis , Sykora and Staal, are just a few of the forwards yet to score. The only Caps forward yet to score are fourth liners Fehr, Clark, (and the suspended) Brashear.

thats because the defense for the caps is really really slow and crosby is really really fast. the first two games the pens lost because the only one doing anything was crosby. This game we had fedotenko, malkin, and letang score, crosby got looks. If the forwards continue to pick it up, we'll win this series no doubt

The Caps are the more talented team with THREE great lines actually producing, and Varlamov playing better than Vezina favorite Thomas (leading the playoffs with 1.64 GAA and is second in the playoffs with a .942 save percentage). So sit down, shut up and accept the fact that as a team the Caps have played better in this series, and in the one game the Caps were greatly "outplayed" it took a deflected shot nearly 10 minutes into overtime to beat them.

yeah the pens have THREE great lines actually producing too. I know varlamov is a good goal tender but i can bring out stats and say that crosby is the leading the nhl in goals and points. The pens have out shot the caps in every game so how are the caps the better team? the ONLY reason why the caps won those games are beacause of Varlamov. As a TEAM the pens are better, the caps won each game by only 1 point and they never dominated the pens at any point during a game.
