  • wow really nice ;)

  • wow cool.

  • hmmmm nice maple leafs ;)

  • I love your work. Have you ever considered painting a Boston Terrier dog?

  • he seems to like painting around the "nature" subject, plant life and delicate or meaningful animals, why would he paint a terrier dog? it'd be out of his niche, or rather isn't good enough to be in his niche. terrier dogs shouldn't even be mentioned. ugh.

  • Wonderful art, dear Kazu! Excellent work!

  • Hey, if you say such ridiculous things, why don't you try it yourself? I've tried it. Sumi-e takes a lot of practice and patience.

  • Beautiful painting and amazing technic!

  • lol yea... maple still says itl hahaa

  • what kind of plant is that???

  • Maple!

It is an excellent example, I love the leaves graduations also.

  • Seems easy when you do it. When I get behind a paintbrush, its hard as hell! :[

    Beautiful work!

  • wow amazing i'm doing a project on sumi-e for my class i wanted to show this

  • TIGHT !!!

  • hello, can I ask you what kind of brush and paper that you often use? I know nothing about arts but when I saw your videos, I would like to give it a try!

  • Traditional sumi-e is done on rice paper (in sheets, or in a roll,)with special sumi-e brushes, using black ink. You can find sumi-e painting supplies at most art supply stores. Most art stores will sell a variety of brushes, so, you should be able to find a basic cost-effective brush for beginners. :)

  • How can I learn Sumi-e ? I don't think there are any teachers around here :(

  • hello, warp,

the important thing in the beginning is just copy sumi-e which you like.

when you paint some, send the photo of these to me, or upload. I will send comment on that.

  • Oh ok I'll do that. Thx!

  • Kirei! Which kind of paper do you use? I just try it with usual whatercolour-paper but I´m not content with it. In Germany it is difficult to get any rice-paper..:/

    You´r Art ist very beautiful!

  • hi, Ajisai san, thanks,

I use normal rice paper,,,but I guess you can't get good one over there...

but, one thing I tried is thick paper for the watercolor paper will work well, please try it. kazu
