  • You landed in RAIN? oh you could have all been killed!

  • Wow 62k+ views.

  • landing an airplane is a controlled crash

  • Nice landing!

  • my daddy learned how to land a baby plane in an epic cross wind, beat that :]

  • i think any flight with a landing is a good flight : )

  • @ypaul123 Wow, you sure are a great homage to the human race..... >.>

  • Hairy one my man. Excellent landing! captainanton.co.uk

  • Awesome. I for one am not one to critque anyone's landings. I thought it was done quite nicely.

  • It was definitely a mix lol

  • Yeah if it was hail you'd sure know it. Also it will hit harder (the rain) with more speed but nice landing all the same. I had a similar experience when I took my first solo in a controlled airport with about 5k bkn then all of a sudden a shower of rain..

Luckyt. No Microburst/ downdraft from a Cumulonimbus but an interesting challenge. What makes a good pilot is if a situation like this arises then the pilot is able to think on his toes and respond with the appropriate action(s).

  • Bit high IMO on turn from base to final, all else looked pretty good. i suppose the perception point may have been a little "keystoned" given the Hail effect on the windscreen. but heck, at 75 kts and slowing, had plenty of room to get down. nice job. as for the weather, what's everybody fussing about. little rain, that's all. criminy. "alternate, alterante!" whiners.

he as in no danger. just a sudden bit of Precip. some people have no idea what the F they're talking about.

  • @drumdude46

Weather can change fast and I've flown in areas that is that abrupt. You can be right in the middle of it, one minute clear, the next a cloud soaked with the wet stuff. Usually on the cusp of a frontal change. Sometimes its forgiving and sometimes its not. Check your MET/TAF for your flight, be aware, have a back up plan and fly safe.

  • It's always smart to fly to an alternate airport until conditions improve.

  • they shiuld make windshiled wipers for the cessna

  • Good Pilot

  • I'm sorry to say but, should you be flying in this weather? Luckily you got away with it, could've been really bad, and I wouldn't be proud of it....... As commercial pilot, this video scared me a bit....

  • and what should him do? stop in the air and wait the bad weather gone?

maybe him was coming back from a navigation and find this weather.. what can they do?

  • Well, for starters, proper planning would help you avoid bad weather and if it's just not your day, you go around it.

  • It's fine to fly in this weather, if your properly instrument rated.

And if the weather does not present any hazards to the aircraft.

  • @flyingbenz

If this video scared you as a commercial pilot, who should be instrument rated (although, i know instrument rating isnt required), you should not be flying.

  • Nothing wrong with that, good crosswind correction.

  • Jew did good

  • Very good landing, considiring the cercumstances, your friend must be a good pilot.

  • what plane is it?

  • sorry dont remember, some cessna or w/e i wasent the pilot just his friend with the camera lol

  • Well done man, sweet landing, bet ur heart was going for it...

  • reading the comments on this video I realize youtube is so full of douchebags

  • thank you! lol!

  • the world

  • one thing i forgot to mention is that i didnt even realize we had been on the ground for half a minute it was that smooth that why it was so 1337 so smooth in such weather i want to make love

  • best landing ever

  • millsythepilot: That was a pretty much perfect landing. I dont really think you know what your talking about. Your acct name says the word pilot in it, so you want everyone to think your a pilot. I know your not because you would have stated that this was a great textbook landing. He wasnt floating, he was holding the nose up to bleed off the excess speed and let the nose come down on its own. ANy PILOT would know this. Proves that your not a pilot in real life. Maybe a FS pilot. LOL!!!! NICE!!

  • tight way to go

  • @jaydawg20052000 there was a float if the speed was pegged where it needed to be on approach you would have touched down at 1:16 but the plane spent about 20sec floating until the mains hit at 1:22

  • good concentration through that rough stuff.

  • I'll take a dead stick over the hudson any day

  • bit of a floater! Watch your speed next time coming over the threshold!

  • You idiot.

  • Any landing you walk away from is a great landing. This was also a great landing for other reasons. Floater my ass, you probably didn't know when the main landing gear touched down and just assumed wrongly. He was holding up the nose to bleed off airspeed. With LLWS you cannot afford to have a slow approach as the chance of stall and crash is imminent.

  • Great landing. Ignore the haters.

  • oh no! possible icing! and such strong winds!

  • looks like rain to me...no hail. That's the sound of fat rain drops hitting plexiglass at 75 knots.

  • i think that the hail is being sliced into water by the blades. i am no expert thats just a gues

  • well was under hail advisory, sure sounded scary though lol

  • wow, that was cool thanks for posting

  • ahhh, the arrogance of the modern pilot... smooth landing. But its not all about how smooth the touchdown is.

  • i agree, but these days people dont judge a pilot on their in flight maneuvers...but they do judge on how you land the airplane, i've never been told, hey, nice job cruising, but terrible landing!

  • Exactly.

American Pilots are well know to make "hard" landings...which are way MORE safe than the smooth ones.

  • Its a god damn youtube video, so the title might be exaggerated, big deal, no need to start throwing hell along with certificates and ratings around

  • so angry i thought the sarcasm in the title is obvious -.-"

  • please tell us what it is like!! oh mighty Naval Aviator, Duche Bag

  • So Ryan gets a lot of carrier landings in an F-16??

    Ummmm. Try again poser.

    Thanks.

  • ultimate...bullshit

  • Gay landing.

  • i'll be landing a cumshot on your gay face

  • Why don't you try shoving your gay head up your ass, to see if it fits!

  • My ultimate landing is better than your ultimate landing. :P

  • At least he could still land using VFR.

  • Yeah... it should be VGR, not VFR. The "g" stands for...you know. This Piloot dreams of flying IFR into a Tornado trying to find Dorothy sucking on the Tin Mans tool!

  • I think it was a good landing, and I think most people are riled up by your TITLE. Ultimate? Well, perhaps SAFE and the plane is flyable, but I think the claim is what set off most of these pilots or wannabes. Keep up the flying, think about the naming of videos. "Nice rainy day landing" might be more apropos.

    800+ hour Private Pilot

  • With so little time to play on Youtube, I tend to watch videos that I like, hopefully ones that are true to the title. You apparently are reading a book called "I am so superior to everyone else I can criticize" It is a good landing. No more, no less. You are the one with recto-cranial inversion.

  • homie chill out and go home.

  • Guess thats a NO! You really dont know jack shit about commercial, OR military aviation.

Go back to Flight sim X

Leave reality to the rest of us.

    LMAO!!!!!!

  • I happen to enjoy flight sim x =D

  • Forget the F-15 driver who landed with one whole wing blown off.

This was really the ultimate EVER

  • driver? you know nothing about aviation, do u? they are called pilots

  • actually, the military uses the term driver for its fighter pilots

  • oh. sorry then. i was talking about commercial aviation

  • So, you know NOTHING about COMMERCIAL aviation either, do you bitch?

Most Commercial aviation pilots are ex military, and is a common slang in part 121 and 135 carriers too.

Stick with the MS flight sim. Ill stick with my 11 years in commercial flight ops.

  • i dont really care about military aviation. you are also very racist

  • in the UK a pilot is a pilot. not a driver. cant you even say that right?

  • Why the Fux do I care what they call them in the UK? Am I IN the UK? Nope.

Frankly, if it were not for the USA, people in the UK would be calling airplane pilots "Flugzeug-Pilot"

    Show some respect.

  • and we can manage AEROplane not AIRplane. and if it were not for the USA, we would still call them pilots. term is not american

  • You're welcome, btw.

  • who gives a shit your speaking OUR language which is ENGLISH so you go by how we speak

  • F-15 is not commercial aviation.

you know nothing about aviation, do u?

    LMAO!!!

  • yeah i was just a guest I did not land it but I thought it was good, I never guessed my friend could do that! So I was impressed (and nervous as I have never been in a cessna before) when he landed and stuff they were giving out icing alerts or w/e on the radio. Definately exaggerating with the title but thats jus my style haha. Never thought it would get so many views!

  • Wow man...that was just the most ultimate landing I've ever seen. wow...really.

  • I think it's a good landing, I might have just waited the shower out if it was moving off the field, you can get kicked around even if your looking at the runway under high base cu's, but they didn't seem to be getting tossed around. I'd wait if I had pax on board especiallly in a light plane, they don't like adventure or their heads hiting the ceiling. I might also hold if it was my plane and my planes paint. I've had to slow down in sleet to keep from taking the paint off a rental.

  • As long as I make it down with all the big parts, I'm happy.

And, I think the overall point is that the landing was just fine. Just not reason to call it "Ultimate Landing ever!"

Since hes a 18 driver now, Im sure youll have lots of good vids from the boat soon. :)

  • ANy landing you can live to talk about is a great landing.

  • No any landing after wich you can use the airplane again is a great landing;).

  • i'm sorry but i fail to see what's so ultimate about this landing, it's just a normal landing with some bad weather

  • ell, i dont care what all the other ppl said, i liked the landing, good job

  • nice landing

  • chief douchebag also....

  • Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. Any landing you can walk away from with the plane still in one piece, is a great landing. Nice vid...

  • Excuse me guys, but something the video does not capture was the quality of the landing - not that he landed it.. I couldent tell when he had the plane on the ground. Under those conditions I personally think it was impressive. The pilot (Greg) is now flying superhornets in Navy, to all of you who prefer to be real douches. Find something better to do than put others down on youtube =D

  • nothing great about that...be a real pilot

  • ...Because real pilots don't land!

  • JOM121

A real plane? If you are such a seasoned pilot please explain what a real plane is. I dont see ATP on your list of ratings. You might get paid to fly but you are not a Professional Pilot a professional pilot would not degrade a perfectly good landing by a less experienced pilot. Since you are instrument rated you should know that even though you can see blue if there is hail present then there is probably t-storms, LLWS, and a host of other dangers.

I say that was a great landing!

  • nice landing, but the runways in my country are 1/3 of that length ... you're supposed to touch down on the keys ;-)

  • I bet you have never flown a plane.

  • haha, you'd lose that bet buddy. Commercial Pilot, AMEL, ASEL, Instrument Airplane is what the Wright Brothers seem to be saying on my Pilot License.

p.s. - AMEL = airplane multi engine land and ASEL = airplane single engine land (just wanted to spell that one out for you since I don't think they use that terminology in sims.)

  • sims?

Wellll... maybe I would lose the bet.

I agree this is a dull video.

  • simulators chief.

  • No pilot would demean a landing. Under any circumstance. Just so you know. From one pilot to "another". Chief.

  • you call it demean, i call it constructive criticism and since you're also a pilot, I strongly believe pilots are always learning. Turbo.

  • Whatever you say. Kiddo.

  • Real airplane, huh? Last I checked you could kill yourself just as easily in a Cessna as you could in a jet.

A pilot's skill is relevant regardless of the equipment he's in. I agree, not a particularly noteworthy landing, but just because it's a cessna doesn't detract from the ability of a pilot. Having a comm. rating doesn't give you the right to be a dick.

  • Off Topic

  • If god had intended us to fly...

  • great work..happy u made it down fellas

  • Nice landing, good thing you made it down in time.

  • It's a good thing the hailstones weren't any larger, good job:)
