  • Hawkwind rule from then till now ...enuff said

  • one of my mates is in the latest line up, they are still good but, i can hear where you guys are coming from when comparing them to now but, if they stood still musicaly i doubt they would be around now, maybe ish.

great track though, my neighbours hate hawkwind, but they dont have any choice, its my stack and i dont do requests.lol

  • nice music greetings jan from denmark glenn miller simon armstrong whrigt me a mail

  • Awful. Embarassing. This was the last Hawkwind album I bought. I've heard them all since 1980 and they're all crap. Without Lemmy, Bob, Nik, Barney, etc there is no Hawkwind. There is only this average bland prog rock commercial product under the same name obligatory delivered each year by the industry and about as inspired as a turd. But like a turd that won't flush, Hawkwind unfortunately, remain.

  • @ dont talk fucking stupid . 79 to 85 was probably their best period .brocky has drove this band for 30 years .without him there would be no hawkwind .

  • why is the cover of hall of the mountain grill the background for this? with levitation being from a different era, it came from a completely different hawkwind. H.M.G. was way cooler. when they had lemmy, they were rock'n'roll. when they fired him, they revealed themselves to be stoney nerds who made rock music. and yeah, its really good music, especially compared to other things, but without the attitude, its sounds so shitty to me.

  • one of my best bands

    blue

  • This is just brilliant and caused me to ruin my life completely!!!! Too much acid and Hawkwind and BOC etc. Oh well maybe I'll discover the "cure for cancer" in my next incarnation !!!! Jerek Carnelian is still my hero !!!!

  • plane Song, Hawkwind Is Planing !

  • Real masters.

  • lets not forget that levitation was graced with drumming from ginger baker...ex-air force drummer etc...but he was a naughty boy going to italy and forming ginger bakers hawkwind tut tut.....a very talented drummer and a sadly missed member of hawkwind r.i.p

  • Levitation was a damn fine album and fresh as a daisy compared to a lot of rock music at the time.

  • this was my first hawkwind album.it still stands up today .i dont know where brocky gets his ideas from but ime glad he gets them.

  • my kind of music. also check out ozric tentacles. feel free to recommend to me, i'm kinda new to prog rock.

  • @infowazz You just HAVE to listen to HAWKLORDS the ultimate in acid rock!!!!

  • @infowazz I definitely recomend Van Der Graaf Generator, start with "H to HE" 1972...

  • Just gets better with passing time!!

  • Need to go to sweden this year ... fantastic ... Hope they still are a good live band

  • omg they got huge skills

  • Saw them in Cardiff on the Levitation Tour, amazing!!

  • Saw this performed live in 1979 with Ginger Baker on drums and still recovering! MEGGA!

  • Got some new headphones today, they allow me to here the music better

  • many hawkwind albums still in folks loft this brings back memories but is that the correct cover ?

Still freaks me out listening to this ....wonder why ?

That guitar cannot be beaten for riffs and hauntingness .....

  • @zigor4 you're right.. it's Hall of the Mountain Grill from 6 years before the Levitation album. Both are great albums!!

  • Amorphis cover is pretty good also :)

  • fucking nice.

  • i do not get this song

  • The best psychedelic rock in the history of psy rock. :D <3

  • Best album ...

  • TheTitanic56-fighting????

TartanBear-Yep totally relate to that one,I don't think I'd be the person I am without this kind of influence, if you get the chance check out a band called Modern English could be of interest to you(or not, just cus I like em etc etc....)

  • @phuquetoo Cheers I will, much gratitude etc!

  • It is my inside space space... Never will I see her again, in beauty, now everything is just murder and darkness. Cest la vie.

  • I have this fascination

    A cause for deviation

    It's called Levitation!Levitation!Levitation!!!

  • Dave Brock is a legend

  • I think the levitation album is a masterpiece & i have to admit it's even better under the influence of hallucinogens lol.

Ginger Baker on drums also makes Levitation a must have album.

  • Music like this dont exist anymore. Nice 2go back in time and dream of good old days.

  • it feels like floating in space when you listen to it. Very good!

  • Magnetic force repel - attract......

Was in my mates house when I was sixteen. His dad comes home and we are all sitting there out of it after some tea brewed from some local fungi, listening to this with all the lights out, staring at an orange flashing road lamp we had half inched from some roadworks. You can imangne his reaction.

  • I absolutely adore this Hawkwind album. It's fantastic.

  • Pic is wrong - that's Hall of the Mountain Grill (1974) NOT Levitation (1979) - at least get THE best ACID rock album of ALL time synced with it's correct pic? I mean - We've got 'Ginger' Baker on drums and this was THE first ROCK album to be digitally mastered. Apart from AC/DC's Back in Black (1980) this remains one of Rocks Best Albums EVER. ;-)

  • :---)

  • They placed an advert in NME asking for a drummer and GINGER BAKER applied. No disrepect to previous drummers but this is special...

  • My kids hate this stuff - right up to the point of me putting a headset on and disappearing in what is "SPACE". Only then do they start to realise the therapeutic value!

  • @sudz58 It's the other way around for mee, I love this stuf but my dad doesen't understand them at all.

  • still play shit loads of Hawkind to this day...Nik Turner the man....Oh yeah and Tim blake...

  • Fucking brilliant song off a brilliant album

  • @AlexAlcyone Totally agree - hidden gen, have this on blue vinoyl from years ago - love it.

  • I love Hawkwind! Im at a bit of a loss as to how the wrong cover was posted though

  • awesome...

  • Fucking great song fucking fuck :DDDDD

  • I love this song!

  • Idiots. The cover posted here is from the album - Hall Of The Mountain Grill - and levitation is from the self titled album.

  • nirvanaispus ..spot on thought you tube was about videos....this is an album cover & not the correct one........what imagination this guy has got!

  • mint

  • saw levitation at the hammesmith odeon... baker was on drums..

also saw sonic attack tour at the same venue a while later..

im glad i caught them at their peak ..they never seemed to be as good ever again.

although seeing lemmy front em at some festival was very cool.

  • NIce Hall Of The Mountain Grill sleave!

  • We are very possibly talking about the same gig. I was somewhere near the front, stage right with some Belfast lads. All of us on acid and smoking hash-coke spliffs. My memory of the gig is a bit hazy, but I do remember walking through Edinburgh afterwards, looking up at the bridges and thinking I was in Hell. Loved every second of it. May the spaceship Hawkwind see you safely to your home planet.

  • Ooops!, I forgot about this! Thx 4 the reply! LOL, it's in an extremely 'distant' galaxy but the ship should make it I reckon ! . . .

  • @heilu553 Too bad coke doesnt work smoked something happens were its basically useless... sorry to say. A quick google search will comfirm this, next time save it for your nose :-p LOL That sounds like a awesome night tho. Im envious.

  • The comment below was meant for dividebyN.

  • Ayyyyyyye, Thats the one, the background visuals were a sort of twin oil-slide projector display that didnt change much either . . . we had a flask of 'shroom T. . .mustve been around august-sep !!

  • He left after less than a year, because they wouldn't sack Harvey Bainbridge(allegedly).

  • I went to see Hawkwind at the Barrowlands in Glasgow with Gong supporting.Only gig I've ever been to where the majority of the crowd were squatting down on the floor man!!

  • LOL, I was at the gig they done in the Playhouse through in Edinburgh, ...lol, they had SEATS!!...lol

  • bet that had the hippies confused....how to squat down on a seat man!!!!!!!!!!!lol

  • LOL . . .

  • Was that 1990ish? Fire-eaters, jugglers and a woman swinging a bucket of fire on a chain round her head? A good night was had by all.

  • Oh yeah! Ginger Baker on drums you know! Classic!

  • will u ever here sounds like this again '' yes u will on your journey on the edge of time good luck with 20012 im allready a giant bat with big teeth

  • I came to a small tree in the clearing, it was blue & throbbing and the sky was about to fall on my head! It was at that point that the acid wore off and I was standing in Barnet High Street sweating!

  • Levitation---their most complete album. I think even the band took this one seriously. Plenty of the old Hawkwind that we were all used to, but with guitars out in front for much of it. Great rhythms with Ginger shuffling along throughout. Had no idea who Huw Lloyd-Langton was at the time until I found out he was the guy from Widowmaker, who I saw warm up for Ted Nugent a couple of years earlier. Excellent version on Live '79, too. Check that album out if you can find it.

  • great band i hear the police in their sound alot

  • The Police??? Are you talking about the band or the cops that ruined Stonehenge in '85?

  • @arkee71 wtf!
