As for the medical industry -- uh -- research and development is different from what we are talking about here -- which is delivery of health care services. Private enterprise promoting ingenuity is one thing. Ensuring those drugs are safe and then delivering them to ALL who need them is something quite different.

As for safe and delivered to all, that too is best done by companies. It holds true for medicine, food, clothing, tires and tatoo ink. Pharmaceutical and Insurance companies are going to be pumping a lot of money into discrediting Michael Moores film. They also see that universal health care could work out very nicely for them if the government just makes it mandatory to pay their fees.

America really needs UHC. It is the only thing that can fix the broken parts of what we have now. Waiting lists in other countries are not first come first serve, it's based on severity, and a recent study showed that countries like Canada, have no longer waiting times than we do here in the states.

Any problem with UHC, like wait times, pails in comparison to the problems we have with private insurance companies. I'd rather wait a little while, than be denied care, or slapped with a huge bill.
