  • They're quite Tera Melos esque which is good, but the vocals ruin it IMO

  • I love that call and response clapping they throw in. Genius individuals right thar.

  • 327 people brought guns to a town that needed them

  • I miss you Stu D:

  • i like the band but the singer is a fucking dork

  • @SegaSatern and you're not? Singer looks normal to me.

  • @xxblzrd703 no i mean the way he moves his body just makes it feel embarressing to watch

  • @SegaSatern They've replaced him fyi. He bugged me a bit too.

  • @Theonewhoclimbs28 They didn't "replace" him, if you're implying they didn't want him; he left to spend time with his family or something.

  • @Onimyst Yea, he had a kid. Nothing implied anyway. When someone leaves and you bring in someone new, that's a replacement.

  • i think this needs to be watched multiple times, each time focusing on a different instrument.

  • 5 People dont know Why He is telling them for why.

  • I didn't know Adrien Brody played drums...

  • Drummer is literally Adrien Brody.

  • Their rhythm section is really underrated.

  • @TheGerthax Its not actually covering the coils. He probably sourced some he liked better than those that came with the guitar and they dont fit perfectly, so the tape stops them slipping forward or jiggling. LIttle jiggles would result in extra unwanted noise.

  • is the tape over the pick ups making the sound different then a normal guitar? whats the point of the tape of the pick ups

  • @TheGerthax yeah, like what that other guy said...i put my own pickups in and didn't ground it right so I use duct tape to isolate the metal parts from my fingers so it doesn't buzz

  • are the bass player and the drummer brothers?

  • @billo008 I believe it's lead guitar and drums that are brothers.

  • holy shit they sound almost exactly if not better than on record

  • does anybody else hear the bassline while the bassit is clapping

    whats up with that

  • @xrickyisdead15x It's the lead guitarist, being amazing

  • @xrickyisdead15x Yeah, the bassist covers part of the lead line, notice when he starts playing the part you hear is more prominent.

  • vox no

  • 8:14, ITS A FAP

  • my favorite part of this video is the different styles of the band members, these guys are truly the best.

  • they pretty much kill every other band/artist.

  • I wish Stu still played guitar for the Animals album, he added such subtle awesomeness that accentuated Tim (is that the main guiatarist's name?) complexity

  • @ShadowCrowX Stu left dude...

  • @l337man4 yeah I know that. I'm saying for the Animals album, it would've been nice to have Tim going crazy as usual and Stu adding some more subtle stuff that accentuates his riffs

  • Dude's gettin' down with that egg-shaker. Pretty rad.

  • this is hard music to groove to

  • ridiculously talented band. theyre all amazing at what they do

  • the guitar work reminds me a great deal of Stewart's from Big Country. Wow.

  • So sad about Stu. Henry from Pennines is a great replacement though!

  • the guitarist looks like a starved james franco

  • what guitar is he using?

  • i love at 8:40 the drums has like a conversation with the first guitar until the end.

  • Saw these guys at Soundwave, they were wonderful

  • Saw them live at a music festival, left after it stopped being funny...

  • @TheXyaan What does that even mean?

  • @ShadoTheBrainTheif It means that the musicians are all ok, except for the singer/s- who can't sing, and if he can, he's not showing it.

  • @TheXyaan Now you're being funny.

  • @TheXyaan You think this guy onstage belting into the microphone isn't showing he can sing? I guess you critiquing him from your lazy boy would be how you show 'em huh? Go ahead, grab your microphone I wanna hear the angelic hymns of "TheXyaan" pouring through my fuckin' speakers. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahah

    ...

    ...

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • @methanandamide I'm sorry, but you need to learn to structure your sentences correctly "I guess you critiquing him from your lazy boy would be how you show 'em huh?" isn't an insult, as it makes no sense, but I realise you tried your hardest, and spent a long time putting "haha" into the comment section, as I doubt you realise you can copy and paste.

  • @TheXyaan He has a great voice. It's the way he sings, and the imperfections in his voice that make him a great singer.

  • @Onimyst I suppose I can see why you like them, I just don't like the wishy-washy-ness of it. =P I like heavier music.

  • @TheXyaan Try Maybeshewill - How to Have Sex With a Ghost

  • @Onimyst Ok then =P

  • @Onimyst That is an awesome instrumental =P. I'm usually into metal, but I like stuff like Nick Cave and soft stuff too =P

  • @TheXyaan id be down to critique some xyaan too..

  • Saw them live for the first time a few days ago, my mind was definitely blown

  • my bro lives with them :)

  • 4 people were obviously not dancier

  • @potlostinclouds Well done sir. A time-sensitive joke!

  • words cannot express how much they amaze me on a daily basis. so. much. love.

  • awesome stuff...........indeed.

  • actually 'rock' is the baby of rock 'n' roll...

  • The cameraman refuses to focus on the lead guitar during the chorus of 26 is Dancier then 4.

    WHYYYYY

  • @maxisku2 technically its the editor.

  • @maxisku2 Because he's a camera man, not a musician. He'll never understand.

  • this is not evolution..it's hardly creative..this is rehashed 70's music...but it is good....just not great..

  • @canormusic shhhh. listen to the music. Then appreciate it for what it is. everyone can give an opinion but you happen to be in the minority.

  • @canormusic ...read this...it's not spam

  • @canormusic

What makes you say mathy music is rehashed 70s music?

  • @TheInevitableTaunt ... well if you listen to the first couple of 'YES' albums...you can hear the similarities...also 'be-bop deluxe'... some '10cc' ....'hatfield and the north'....lotsa similar 70's stuff....but like they say....history repeats itself...

  • best british band in a long long time

  • they're all really cute

  • kinda nothing new really....not rock 'n' roll....a poor man's 'yes'....but nice to listen to for a while

  • @canormusic The term "rock 'n' roll" is old and decrepit. It has evolved into much better; things like this.

  • Comment removed

  • @Onimyst ....rock 'n' roll will never evolve!....it is a created entity!...no Darwin Theory here folks!

  • @canormusic Modern Rock > Classic Rock.

  • @Onimyst ...fair enough..but we're talking rock 'n' roll ,...not 'rock'

  • Hi. To help some of you out, Tim's bridge pickup was damaged when we did the recording and we didn't have time to get it fixed properly, so we used gaffa tape to hold it in place. The guitar he's using is a Patrick Eggle Berlin (I think) and the amp is a 150W Engl Invader.

  • Anyone know why Tim's guitar has duct tape on the sides of the pickups? xD

  • @ccaslin6 because the pickup might not be installed properly, the tape probably keeps it from moving around.

  • What kind of guitar is Tim using in this video? He is getting beautiful tone! What amp also?

  • @TheMarkHoppus182 dunno what guitar thing the head is an engl invader 100 the guitar looks alot like a prs but somet6hings telling me a music man or a peavey maybe?

  • why does he have tape on both sides of his neck pickup?

  • @ccaslin6 I was wondering the same thing, I've seen other people do that as well

  • @ccaslin6 sometimes the strings can get caught under the rim of the pickup which kinda ruins everything when playing live lol. Steve Vai also does this.

  • This is a band of wanna bes. They suck. singer is a mike kinsella rip off.

  • @liberatordoc

shut the fuck up. like you know anything about the talent of a math band. go back to strumming those power chords, faggot.

  • @blonker

Haha if you knew anything about their predecessors you would surely agree with me. Also there is Maps and Atlases, (early) minus the bear, Six Gallery, Lite, Maserati and a slew of other bands that are far better and don't have a singer that sounds like he's trying to ass fuck the singer from Manchester Orchestra. My guess is you are one of the countless nerds that think two finger tapping is a mark of genius. Trust me, it's a horse that has been beaten dead several times over.

  • @liberatordoc

None of those bands you listed compete in progressive territory. I bet you're one of the countless douchebags that considers the way someone plays an instrument instead of the sound they produce with it. Then again, I guess I'm expecting too much out of someone who can't even play a fucking Jackson 5 song at half the BPM a 13 year old played it.

  • yes.

  • I fucking love this band. They've been my new favorite!

  • Ooooohhhoooohh we wish we were Vessels

  • personally i think and i'll tel you for why sounds so much better live then the album version

  • @glorious554 or don't cheat a band that needs they're money and get the album of itunes like i did

  • I want that ride cymbal D:

    excellent performance.

  • Anybody knows why does he uses the tape on his guitar?

  • @Oscaracer i imagine its so he doesnt catch the strings on the pickup mounts or scag them when he strums

  • How you can remember how play all the tapped party i do not know, absolutley mind blown!

  • @DannyFlintt Practice, practice and more practice.

  • 7:33 british teeth

  • @rallychild haha you sad childish american prick

  • great preformance.... the bassist looks so chill haha... just jammin... def one of my fav bands

  • the drummer is sick

  • @Kill908090

we saw them in concert a couple weeks ago and he literally was ill... but still he was awesome

  • 4:33 / 9:05

  • i personal like animals betta

  • Fuck, I don't really know why, but this band always makes me depressed as hell. Makes me feel so lonely and emotional, fucking sucks! I love the music itself, and as a guitar player I really look up to their guitarists, but I just can't take it. I wish I could just feel good and happy listening to it because of how great they are, but it always leaves me feeling empty and lonely. Don't know what's up with me.

  • @MineSweepingKent That's emo music for you.

  • @chadsnadsrox I guess so! But it never used to be so bad. Maybe it's the nostalgia, 'cause I used to be into emo and post-hardcore type stuff. So now that I've found a really skillful band in the genre, it makes me sad that I'm not into it anymore.

    Hooray for psychological analysis.

  • Comment removed

  • @chadsnadsrox who says emo? are you twelve?

  • @MineSweepingKent smoke green bro

  • @elliottbrookshello I do, very often.

  • @MineSweepingKent you sound very formal about it.

  • @elliottbrookshello I wasn't sure what your point was so I was confused over how to answer it.

  • Pre-Planet of Ice Minus the Bear, This Town Needs Guns, American Football, probably the three best bands with this sort of music.

  • @johnproyal American Football

  • sublime

  • For the people not so sure about Animals, the songs you should listen to at least are 'Chinchilla', 'Lemur', 'Panda', & 'Rabbit' (which is my personal favorite song) and maybe 'Elk'

  • @thedivinesuicideof Pig! Thats a good one! I related to it, anyone else?

  • why do they both use PRS's hmmmm

  • What nice clean cut college boys. This makes me want to go back in time 15 years and do better in Calculus.

  • sciupitupa

  • I don't know what you guys are talking about with the bass. Jamie Cooper just keeps a rhythm going, he doesn't need to compete with Tim, or even Chris.

  • these songs own my entire soul<3

  • Bass could be much more technical. He needs to just step out and create a little bit in my opinion what about you guys

  • @OfEther i agree theyre are still great though

  • The bassist just lays down what's needed, if he stepped it up their sound would be entirely different. All emo music has bass that flows, it doesn't need to stand out.

  • @OfEther Go watch them live, and agree with that statement again. You won't. I wholeheartedly disagree, and I'm a bassist myself.

  • @OfEther I think so long as he can keep it going and fluidly keep it alive, it doesnt matter how technical.

  • They could do with a better bassist. All the others are so technical and advanced and he seems to be laggin gbehind somewhat.

  • this sounds like the owls, would anyone in this band be from the owls, i know some of them were capn jazz to

  • @JustAnotherInfluence

Owls = US, TTNG = UK so no

  • Nah, owls/american football was from the US. It sounds similar cause it's the same genre, math rock. It's pretty close knit for the most part.

  • great music but lame lyrics

  • @analteddybear Yeah, same with American Football. Amazing musicianship, but kind of crappy lyrics.

  • is his bass amp underneath tims cabinet? or is that connected to his head

  • oh man i love the ending

  • excuse my mistake i wasnt aware of that, thank you.

  • Tim Collins=Beast.

  • collis

  • tapping mania, what precision and skill even with the non tapped stuff. Tim Collis is awesome and so is the entire band and their music

  • i love the vocals. i love the music. what a fantastic band.

  • "Picture Postcard" - probably a nod to the promise ring

  • The world is a better place with This Town Needs Guns, they are pure genius.

  • His voice is wonderful. But not because it's flawless, but the opposite. Have you listened to the lyrics? Have you heard how powerful, and emotional they are?

My voice would crack singing something as powerful as that. It's amazing. And not just the vox. "26 is dancier.." Had a very big impact on me, and if it wasn't for the music on top of the vocals, I wouldn't have spent the best part of a night breathless =]

Yeah.. Now I sound gay, but I don't care =D

  • @SomethingsIronic yesssssss yesssssss yesssssss so powerful and how he delivers them and you dont sound gay

  • The collis family are the coolest people ever <3

  • them english dudes now how to keep a drummer busy, and a guitarrist too. god i want a band like that! these mates are too awsome! and hey the voice may not be perfect but it adds a real human touch to it, its not all quality its the feeling the singer gives the song that makes him good, and hey the bassist is real groovy baby XD

  • Chris Collis

  • c'mon man. just google it.

  • Personally, I really like the way he sings. Awesome band. :)

  • hes a muuuuch better singer now listen to animals and youll see his voice is beautiful

  • his voice was beautiful in the recording of both of these songs. maybe he was just nervous.

  • like american football, the music makes it soo worth it. im glad personally, if the voices were better they'd distract form the guitar stuff. its clever, not intricate, but well written. Also check out a band called Very Secretary.

  • I wonder what's the guitar tuning.

  • 26 is Dancier Than 4 tuning is - DADAC#E with a capo on the 6th fret.

  • capo is on the 5th fret

  • you can see the capo is n 8

  • it's on 5 for the first song and 8 for the second.

  • What Guitar is the lead guitarist using?

  • Paul Reed Smith

  • I actually meant the other guitarist, also after putting some time into it I found out by Google that the company is called Patrick Eggle Guitars, but thank you always.
