Excellent work man! Mine is about a week away from maiden. Raking retracts and upgraded to the E-flite 60A ESC/BEC but i also run a 1400mah 2S Lipo for backup power for servos. I am planning to run 3600 packs so I will have to see that the the flight times are. Can't wait to get her up!
@vmhorne you're gonna love her, a real sweet flier and raking the gear will definitely help against nose overs. Should get decent flight time with that battery too, all the best with the maiden.
bought one with fixed retracts, took about 1/2 hour to make them working retracts ,took about 5min to trim it out fly on a 4cell 3200mah 20c 4 blade prop loads of power flies for around 12 min ,but i did change the esc and rewired my own ubec in case the esc went down so still have power to servos, the stock ones are crap also put an extra elevator servo in in case one fails but the plane itself flies superb
Definitely good idea on a separate BEC on a bird this size, I have one on all my FMS birds and between this one, the Spitfire and the Corsair, the Mustang flies nicest :)
Ohh just saw your batt info, nice-- I was planning on using the same--Turnigy 4s 3000 or 3600mAh. Will try the maiden tomorrow on the beach tides permitting.
haha, wow looks like first time pilot. Well done with the editing and the music, I like that, but absolutely awful camera work. Nice plane, though. Why did you have to make all these mods, though? Is it unsafe to fly without them?? How much do you now have invested in the plane? Where did you originally get it? oh yeah, and are the bombs re-usable?
@jakecedolia13 Got the plane from Aerialhobby and the bombs are kinda re-usable, depends if it hits a soft patch or not. The plane flies fine stock, I bought an early version which had problems but the new ones are fine :)
Yeah I buy all my batteries from HK, I agree waaaaaaaaaay cheaper :) I'm just about to experiment with a 5S power system which will see me drop amp draw considerably but maintain performance. Will post details on my blog when I finish testing.
@mayi420uplease oh sorry and forgot to say no I haven't flown the micro mustang, 3 guys where I fly have one each and love em. I'm just not into the micro stuff personally.....however I did just see someone released a very cool looking Spitfire micro which has caught my eye hmmmmmm...so maybe :p
Fly in Adelaide and the bombs weigh about 100gms each with their base. It has unlimited vertical on 4s but I'm not using the stock motor, details on my build are on my blog, just do a search on RCgroups for my profile "jbc" and it's all on there.
i like this model,can fly slowly n fast...enjoy..

where do you guys fly in Aus? How much extra weight did those bombs add? Was it underpowered because of the extra weight do you think?
