hamas was democratically elected by the palestinian people. abbas was appointed by western govts. westbank residents under fatah rule are sitting back and relaxing in front of the tv watching those in gaza being murdered by israel...

funny, i've never seen a member of hamas point a gun at anyone in order to gain political support... however, i have seen many members of fatah do this.

hamas was not a political party at all prior to the elections... it was an islamic social movement aimed at providing social services for the palestinian people, and they were good at it, so they had a lot of support and ran in the election.

fatah and the west did not see it coming, which is why they were & still are so pissed about it.

Both Fatah and Hamas have their pros and cons. Fatah is a secular party, which IMO is good, but many in the Party have lost the will to defend the Palestinians against Israeli terror. Hamas is still determined to fight(which is good), but they are Islamist(which isn't good).
