We had a rope fish like this...he actually just passed yesterday, but he would swim in between our hands while we cleaned or adjusted the aquarium...and he liked to bump by finger nails. Who knows why these fish are seeking physical attention...but its pretty cool.

It is amazing that it trusts you that much. Normally, if you get too close to a catfish, all you can look forward to are the spines on its dorsal fin or the stingers on its back fins. That fish is a kind one indeed!

@MeerKat186 I had an upside down one and it was a dear sweet thing. It only survived a week from when I got it which was somewhat devastating :(. It was so shy at first but then it got used to me and would come up to the side of the tank when I went upto the tank.

So it's possible that could be part of what attributed to it as well as having trouble keeping fish alive. I lost so many fish that I gave up on them after I kept losing them :(.

these fish are really fantastic to raise . this one is probably 4 or 5 years old and it needs a huge tank at this point but you can get the babies 2" long for about $15 each and start in a small 20 gallon tank , years of enjoyment .

It's clear from the fish's behavior that it see's your hand as a threat to its territory, which is why it keeps going back to the area in the tank where your hand is. You should never touch a fish! It removes there slime coat and that can make them more susceptible to tank born diseases!
