That's fine and dandy if you like a house made of cobblestone. But what about a house made of something else? Other than having to fill up the many dispensers you'd need (which would also make it faster self-repair), you can make it out of many more materials.

You could encase all the technical stuff in a few layers of obsidian so that griefers would have about 10 seconds or so to drill through it before they got caught.

You just have to buld the foundations of the mechanism very deep in the ground, and make the height of the room big, so that the mechanism tht replaces the second floor is far away from the ground.

This way you get a house, that's creeper-proof. They can't reach the vital parts underground, and the parts that operate the upper floor regeneration are simply unreachable for the bastards.
