  • Ghetto!!!

  • have done something like this on my last 2 cars. good to see innovation.

  • thats kinda gay

  • how much power does it make on the dyno? LOL

  • Proof is when its running, take and squeeze on the larger air return line on the bottom of the stock intake hose leading to an off-white cylindrical looking thing behind the passenger side valve cover, has a 3 lead plug. Noise should stop. Release. It starts. Just make sure thats either plugged into something, or you'll have to deal with the damn hum forever.

  • Actually the hum in the background is the idle air control valve. The magnetic post and the electromagnet are making that noise. If you turn the car off you should be able to listen to just that little slight hum for maybe a good 5 mins. A lot of that has to do with the fact people don't fully seat their airbox when they mess with the intake, and it gets really, really loud. Trust me, fixed mine and some other peoples. Just make sure its seated at the bottom on the 3 teeth.

  • also cheap is using exhaust tubing works great

  • Paint it black and no one would be the wiser. ;)

  • OMFG what is that! The "noise" you can hear is a restriction in the air intake. All people are doing is confusing NOISE with POWER, the same way as idiots confuse SMOKE with POWER on a diesel car. Noise means restriction, you are hearing air going through something obstructing it. Messing with air intakes and filters does nothing apart from slow the car down. Learn about engines, gasflow & filtration - don't be conned by sales people. They lie to get your money & boy racers are an easy target!

  • They half adjustable pipes at pepboys and autzone. The homie took that route

  • yea... def gonna agree you prooob should at least be using high heat resistant materials.. u most likely gonna confuse the MAP sensor you have rather than increase power

  • PVC works, however, it can emit toxins in the plastic that you really shouldn't be breathing in. Ever smell the PVC in the cabin? That odor is from the extreme heat the PVC is enduring. I tried it on my car as well...and I admit, it worked great and was super easy/cheap to make! But the odor/chance of the fumes making me sick over time weren't worth it to me.

  • sounds horrible

  • ITS NOT COSTOM INTAKE ITS PLUMBING ENGINERIA??

  • i have an obs. 97 as well. im going to make a ram air intake for. Yes it will be a true pressurized box. It will not work with an L hood sence im going to use the hood scoop. ill post the vid when i get dose working out all the breather lines

  • (Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

    - Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder

    - Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747

    - Lots of after-market company stickers

  • @hundizzar I would just like to say you are an idiot. Yes a large amount of people do make these modifications on their cars just to make them look and sound better but a proper exhaust setup does let the engine breathe better and is worth the investment. A spoiler either large or small setup properly on a car also effects the performance of the car by pushing down on the car. But I know what you mean with the stickers... bleh

  • @TrentTeddyMartin You are one stupid mother fucker.

  • i got a homemade one in my truck also, 6.0 gas and gives me better kilometers :)

  • you have the right idea just not the right materials, yu van get some aluminum piping for cheap, i would rather buy that then kill my car by using pvc

  • When PVC gets Hot as it will underneath your hood it releases chlorine gas that is toxic to your engine. Look on Jegs.com they have heat resistant custom piping for under $100.

  • @ThePublicAwareness1 the gases from your moms pussy is toxic

  • that silencer is killing power

  • Thats kool and all but DO NOT use pvc you ABS, pvs isn't meant for anything hot you will cause the inside of it to melt and the vapors will go into you motor then well you get the pic..

  • I had a 97 outback sport too, loved that car, brothers put it through hell though, you keep up the good work man.

  • lol funnier then shit but it works man!

  • scoooobadoo subaru!!!!!!!! nice intake!

  • Actually, the only thing he could possibly do wrong with this setup is to allow more particles into his filter... which will happen if you remove the snorkus (as he has).

  • hahaha tht is awesome bro nvr thought of doing tht and it is a great idea

  • i wanna make one give me a clue on a 91 camaro v8 tell me somthing here

  • it sound like ur idle control valve is bad

  • ima use a soda

  • where did you route your vacuum lines(if you have any). ive been looking at doing this to my 02 Tundra but i dont know what to do about my vacuum lines

  • where did you route your vacuum lines(if you have any). ive been looking at doing this to my 02 Tundra but i dont know what to do about my vacuum lines

  • cpvc? gas rated baby

  • For sure its a subaru.!! Boxer engine.!

  • IS THAT A SUBARU LEGACY?

  • when da secondry kicks in i notice it hard lol,

  • awsome custome sewer pipe intake

  • @savageguy25

that POS sounds like pure shit, sewer pipe and duct tape,no way.

  • Wait where's your scooby's turbo? :P

  • gain more hp when your on the freeway running at 90

  • Way to be!

  • wow a pcv pipe?? are you serious?? ....... ROFL

  • nothin wrong with that...no different that an aluminum pipe just not as pretty.

  • I actually used exhaust pipe for the middle part where he has pvc. :) Not pretty but who gives a shit? It ain`t a showcar

  • @hellatyteman13 learn how heat is transferred and you will see how he reduced his performance!

  • @hellatyteman13 actually with all the sections the air is slowed down when at high rpms reducing performance. The smooth air intakes you'd buy from a retailer is one long tube with very few sections to avoid this.

  • @hellatyteman13 It's not like anyone really sees the engine that often anyway. If it HAD to be pretty, you could probably spray paint it silver.

  • @hellatyteman13 aluminum is also more heat conductiv causing a loss in hp

  • @johngorgis What?! Aluminum is a well known heat isolator. So, it will actually help going cold air into the engine, gaining HP.

  • It's a HOOVER!

  • lol..just facking buy A REAL ONE ..

  • you don't understand.. yeah you can buy a real one a bolt it on.. whatever.. but is that as fun as making one ? a really understanding how it works..

ohh i hear the bell.. back to your special ed class!

  • sir, this sounds like a straight up vaccum cleaner. take that engine, and burn it.

  • That, sir, is called the intake resonance. He has eliminated the silencer so you can hear it. Alot of cars had this, but most now are engineered to lessen or eliminate it. I kinda like it, I drive a 97 obs and have eliminated the silencer as well, and it does it too.

  • hey buddy nice poop pipe its not hard to find stanless tubing to do an in take and its completely pointless unless u eliminate the airbox or have some typ of ram air to it i have made homemade intake systems that actually work its not hard and not expensive

  • You seem to be a noob... An liberty/Legacy can easily have same sound as an wrx. All subys use boxer engines, and also it's easy to swap for one from wrx.

  • instead of liberty/legacy i meant a regular impreza.

Anyway. I dont think its a waste of time.

  • LMAO ROTFL

  • wat kind of car is this

  • 'home depot racing' ftw!!!

  • wtf man, were you drunk when you were filming it

  • hey esta super, yo tambien use tubo de PVC.

pronto subire el video. hay lo ves

  • what the fuk is obs..dont u meen p.o.s

  • why do these engines make that sort of "uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" noise with aftermarket intakes??? i have a 98' OBS and it makes the same noise...anyone know why? thanx

  • Reonant frequency created by the engine. The stock intake is tuned to cancel out that frequency.

  • nice answer

  • your car is about to blow....not cause of the intake but because of the knocking.....the intake will only speed up the process though....have a towtruck on speed dial.

  • It's an H motor, it'll make noise like that for another 50,000.

  • No.... you actually have to adjust the valves, my d15 has 345 000 kms on it and sounds perfect, doesnt tick like that because I adjusted the valve lash.

  • This works until you take the scoob in the mud and water....trust me i know first hand my fender doesn't even have that much open and it still drinks like a sailor

  • DIY intakes FTW!

  • pvc piping? how much did it cost b/c they sell for like $30 on ebay. Nice sonunding though
