My mother owned a little tortoiseshell cat that was raised by people after being abandoned by it's mother and it seemed to talk. It sat outside and howled a short howl that sounded like in, gave a slightly longer howl when wanting to leave the house that sounded like out. If it hadn't seen you for a while it rushed up and made a hello sound or if you tried to pick it up which it hated a constant little no sound. It seems bizarre but every one who heard it said that's what it sounded like.

When i Meowed at my cat it just looked at me weirdly and walked off.

Not claiming you are wrong or right, but do take into consideration a few points:

1. He does not make a double meow normally.

2. Now he likes to walk up to us and just do that, no more prompting.

3. If I say his name to him after 2 to 4 times, he does a triple meow (Apollo)

Do I believe he is saying HELLO in his mind? No, I think he is trying to mimic me best he can. I just know he likes to play the hello game, as do I. :)
