  • I started 2/17/12. 5"11 196 pounds. Not fat fat but I wanted to get healthy. I started benching 95 pounds at hardly 10 reps lol! It's getting easier and easier every day thought I can tell. Been yearsssss since I did any lifting

  • What if you've lifted before ( inconsistently ) and after a couple years of not lifting, will you still get those newb gains in the beginning? Will your body even recognize you as a newb once muscle memory takes place?

  • @acuna13 I lifted a year and a bit ago inconsistently and started again recently, in the past 4 months I've made the same 'newb' gains, if not more as I have the experience now.

  • so funny. i can only thank you

  • at first the strength gains you see are mostly neurological. also your muscles are new to all the stress so they get torn up and swell with fluid which makes them seem bigger. after you have been lifting for a while and your muscles have adapted, its harder to disrupt muscle fibers and your neuropathways have already been established so strength gains are usually less noticeable.

  • "When you start you should be doing 135 for 10 reps max" :S ... O GOD, when I started I was doing like 85 pounds for 8 reps... I can now, finally do 135 for 10 reps after 1 year and a half.... :( FML

  • @analyticannoyance take your subs, and keep going mate!

  • @analyticannoyance Yeah but everyone is different... Some people do 150+ the first time they step into the gym. Its about how much you improve against your old lifts, don't worry about comparing to other people so much

  • I started with bout 45 kgs. Now I get this weigth for each hand with dumbells

  • you're both cool, i'm thinkin about starting up some vids too, i've been lifting since i was 15, about to turn 21 now. I just want to add that when you cut, it's almost the same as when you're first starting. If not, better. You have muscle memory, you'll get quik gains and define your muscle even better if you cut. I'd say 2 months a little too long to cut though, but i'm sure it wasn't on purpose.

  • what is their workout program?

do they have one for beginners?

with reps and sets and so on?

  • you guys are fucking cool maynnn!

  • Oh hello! Have you heard the talk about - fast abs magic (should be on google have a look)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my m8 got beautiful 6 pack abs and lost tons of fat with it.

  • Just saying guys... people who take steroids work just as hard as every other serious body builder or average person in the gym

  • @JustSimplyMuscle this was purely a natty video, stop hijacking the thread!

  • @JustSimplyMuscle They worked hard less than half as much as the natural guy who's the same size as them though..

  • Guys 135 is a biginner bench depending on your size. If ur 6 foot and 165 pounds then ya it should be. But if ur 5 7 and 140, prolly nott.

  • Totally true! it's harder to build muscle along the line.... if you are not prepared to work harder, then give upppp!! or go easy way "steroids"

  • Your strength gains in the first year are crazy im 17 and have just started, im skinny and weak for my age yet i moved my lat pulldown from 40kg to 60kg in 6 months. 20kg is a lot.

  • 135?? haha fuck that 110 is more like it

  • 135 as a beginner benching? Shit I'm a weakling :( I barely bench 50-60...

  • @furbylalala I thought i was the only one! :)

  • @kimmbooo Clearly not. But still I've been getting gains, at the very beginning I just barely did 10 reps of the bar alone.

  • @furbylalala

nahh man they were probably strong before beginning form the army and etc, i started at 90lbs and others start at 45 even and today they are strong as fuck

  • @Nabolzi Yeah probably, after all I've seen immense gains in strength with other exercises, specifically my arm workouts (Isolation exercises.. Oh shit, ain't supposed to say that in TMW's channel, ehm.. I meant compound movements of course.. yeah, totally.. Compound movements.)

  • what is that song at the start of the video when it says hodge twins, anybody know what song is that from..

  • i heard that the high reps for toning was not true can you tell me if iam wrong

  • Grape fanta shirt on black man no racism

  • My strength gains comes in spurts after the first yr

  • Yeah, i am 15, been lifting for like, 4 or 5 months, and when i was younger i swam alot, so after my puberty i noticed it was quite easy for me to gain muscle, both mass and strength and i have already seen good results on my bicep shapes for example.

  • been working out for 1 month, making dem gains erry day, mayne. great video, thanks.

  • i've been pumping iron for 4 to 5 months i've seen quite a difference i was scrawny fuck now i'm a toned Mofo.

  • @sikkky789 toned? so you actually lost weight?

  • question why is it harder to do the same weight when i use dumbbells to bench press than when i use the barbell to bench

  • @tedrickeinstein more stabilizing muscles needed using dumbells

  • @sebaswildboy thats interesting its the opposite for me lets say i bench press 40 each hand with the dumbells 80lbs but on the barbell i shoul be able to smack on two 30 lb plates and press it easily assuming the bar weighs 15 it would be 75 lbs but i cant fukn lift that its much harder

  • @tedrickeinstein - When you use the barbell u have that extra stability with a full bar (ie: your keeping one weight up with both arms). When u bench with dumbbells each of your arms are stabilizing the weight on their own. using extra muscles, therefore making it harder.

  • Jimmy Struthers is my trainer, I'm making all kinds of gains! He's got me on all these crazy supplements! we doing 100 sets a day!

  • "which fuckin sssssSUCKS" lol

  • great video, its called diminishing returns btw.. you should have mentioned also how smaller muscle groups like forearms grow even more slowly

  • can some1 write down all the curse sentences from them? xD would be funny :D

  • @kaEEi1337 that would not be funny

  • @yeegits dont get all butthurt :D

  • I miss these Hodgetwins..

  • WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! Nooooo!!!! I've been trying to "lift weights" for about 3 years - i run cross country and track by the way - and I'm still skinny. I know I'm more toned. And over the past 3 years, I've probably gained 1 pound of muscle per year. Lol no joke!! So does this mean it's gonna take a hell of a long time for me to even look average??? :(

  • @dtbjjrb Unless you stop cross country and track

  • @dtbjjrb No way in the hell you gonna run cross country track and get bigger. Fact is, the body burns muscle and fat, damn near the same rate. Fat only burns a little quicker than muscle. So, you doing all that cardio is virtually erasing all fat AND muscle gains. You will have to stop the track if you wanna get bigger, sorry...

  • @swampgeorgia Sweet. Well, I think I'm gonna stop doing track after I finish high school then. I was WONDERing if that was the case. I know that if I tried working out my biceps it would be pointless because I would run my biceps muscles off, but what if I worked out something different like my shoulders or back? Would the muscle gains in my back and shoulders be erased too?

  • @dtbjjrb Well, that all depends on your genetics. Everybody has different muscles that grow faster than others. But, basically, the hard cardio is gonna cancel big muscle gains all over. You can still train. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't expect major results till you stop the track dude....

  • @swampgeorgia Alright, got it. Thanks for the help.

  • Hey guys, my chest is shit and the rest of my body is ok. What should I do to make my chest better looking or at least add some mass?

  • glad yous said it slows down... after bout a year and i half im barely seeing progress in weight im liften nomores

  • I miss these Hodgetwins

  • I hate their stupid lines and the beginning and ending of every fuckin video. I was gonna do whatever the fuck I wanna do anyways. That shit is just rude.

  • @chrysillo That's PERFECT in this show. Its really funny!!!

Actually they can make pro TV shows.

I think u r the only one who say that.

  • @rey777777 funny is subjective, dude. I can't agree I'm the only one.

  • @chrysillo aaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwww u ok :(

  • This may be a big word for you Hodge twins but, Muscle gain over time = Exponential decay.

  • went to the gym .............loved it for 7 months, than i got tennis elbow from lifting ........it's been 5 monthhs now still cant do shite.....put on 7kg since :(

  • Two of the most honest hardworking bodybuilders.

  • I dread the day my gains come to a screeching halt.

  • The key to building muscle is drinkin' grape drank! That's why he wears the Fanta tee shirt.

  • so the longer you lift.....well i got it :D

  • what exactly is a strength gain?

  • @infringinator when u can lift heavier than u could before or lift a certain weight more times than u could before...isnt that kinda obvious?

  • i dont want to build any muscle because i can do what ever the fuck i wanna do

  • For example; If I go to the gym for the first time ever and (I only weigh 130 --skinny as fuck) bench, for example, 130lbs... 10 reps x 3 sets.... the next time I hit up that exercise (4-6 days later) do I go up weight already? and keep going up every time I hit that excercise? or do I stick with the same weight for 2-3 weeks, then go up, stick with that for 2-3 weeks, then go up? In short, how quickly should I increase weight???

  • @Fraternity187 no you don't change the weight, what you do is shoot for a rep goal before you allow the weight to change....... whatever weight u use for 10 reps (as in your example) you just keep doing it workout after workout and try to get more reps...... when you reach let's say 15 reps on your best set with that same weight, now it is time to add 5 pounds to each side (ten per side if you're doing 225 for example).... it could take a couple weeks or months, doesn't matter

  • Its like going level up in videogames, in the beginning it goes fast as fck, and the further you get the slower it goes! LOL

  • @DeLange12 except gw2

  • You guys you are so damn funny, shit, I just watch for the entertainment.....great double act..keep up cos you know what? You can do what the fuck you wanna do! :-0 - UK fan

  • @emericaordie15 It varies between age like a 15-18 year old can gain 4-28 lbs of musce a year if your 40 don't expect anymore then 5-7lbs

  • aight @twinmuscleworkout... idk if your gonna see this... but im 14... and a little confused... you been doing 135 benching since you started. it took me like 5 monthes to get to that!!! and now i can only do like 7 or 8 reps of that... now! im thinking this is just natural strength from your years of age, not to call you old, but... is it normal to start low like below 135 for bench. for a first year (this is my second) being 14.... im not sure if that makes sense?

  • @whoreisbitchin your 14...bruzzle your hardly in puberty. if your strength gains are slow as shit then you may be over training...i would suggest u drop it off...or work more on your rotator cuff muscles cause u may be losing strength though that

  • 225 26 times??? righttttt. id have to see that one. i doubt 16 times..with good form. :)

  • @joeValrico8 Jimmy Struthers can do it :)

  • @joeValrico8 wow, this comment must come from someone who can't even lift 16 times, My senior yr in high school I hit 15 times...so yeah it is possible

  • you should see frank yang, grandmaster jhoon rhee, Grandmaster Kim Jin Young Dragon Kim

  • you can have problems in another. You can lift heavy but the muscle of your respiratory system isn't that developed so you'd have problems in developing the endurance for running. It's impressive to lift large amounts of mass but those muscle fibers fatigue easily.

I train every aspect of my body so yes, I believe I am really strong for my own size and genetic disposition. I can jump rope for hours on end, perform 100 pushups in a row (afterwards) perform 1000 crunches and continue into pushup

  • The children who say they were 17 years old lifting vast amounts of weights are gifted genetically. You should be able to lift logically your own weight in order to function properly.

I am a future nurse and understand there are three different types of muscle.

Fast Oxidative-Glycolytic, Slow Oxidative and Fast Glycolytic.

The body consists of all three types of muscle and only two of which can be controlled for growth. They vary from person to person and if you focus on one area(continued)

  • and when I spoke to him he said he has to eat large amounts per day or else he looses 5-10 pounds the next day. I've tried protein and it has no effect same with weight gainers.

What you consider strong for yourself and what I consider strong for myself are subjective and can't be measurable because many factors take place.

From my own experiences I know that I am strong because of how hard I must work to achieve the results I have. (continued)

  • It is strong, at 5'8 and small frame. You have a bigger frame as I can see from your videos.

You are phillipino? My girlfriend is and so is my brother in law. He has always had large gastrocnemius muscles in his legs due to genetics.

My own genetics don't allow for abundant growth. I have a friend of mine who has the same metabolism and eats large amounts of food to gain weight. He fluctuates constantly from 190-180lbs(continued)

  • I'm 123lbs. I can bench 180lbs, perform 100 push-ups and surprise people with my strength. Look at Frank Yang. Size does not = muscle strength. If you reach a plateau try to push past it.

  • @openminded2 A 180lbs. bench @ 123lbs.BW is not much. That's less than 1.5x body weight. Me? I'm 143 lbs. and I bench 250 lbs. max - 1.75x my body weight, and I don't even consider myself strong.

  • 135 is 1 plate how can u be only lifting 1 plate after 2 years pssh i was doin a plate in 7th grade

  • are you guys twins or something

  • bitch! don't work out once a day! work out AT LEAST!! 8 or 9 times a day (JimmyS, your boy)

  • yo how long should i wait after each time i lift weights? like a day? for rest?

  • @NecKClippA 1 day in, 1 day out. every other day

  • yoooo wtf. i was playing the video in the background, checking the weather, and i caught his yawn a second before he yawned and i wasn't even watching

  • Feels good being a beginner, makin big gains after every workout :)

  • This cutting bullshit, its some fucking bullshit!!!!!!

    epic!

  • To avoid platues

Me and all the little jimmys

    U noe mr struhers

We all workout like shit 365 days a year

Then we take a whole year off man

U noe all that muscle confusion bullshit

  • their beginner example is me after 3,5 months FUCK 'em

  • i no u guys are in ur 30's but i still believe u guys can go up to 300 lbs for two reasons ur muscular physique and the experience you have been lifting from endurance/strength

  • I've been going gym for 10 weeks twice a week for 2 hours is that enough also i bench 35 kg.

  • @sikkky789 How old are you?

  • chin up fellas. wait til you see how much snappin' poppin' and hurtin' you do in 10 years! Amazing, I've recovered most of the mass I had in my 30's, but now 10 year later after that long out of the game, it's depressing to see this much mass lift so little! At 36 I too warmed up with 225 for 20+, but now I can't hardly get it off the hook. Shoulder poppin' and sharp all night pain is too humbling.

  • you guys sniff a line before each vid or something lol

  • @TheShnitster LOOL!!!!!!!!!!! the way i read this comment and saw their faces at the start of the video. I swear i just died! HAHAHA

  • hey guys!! I've been working out for 7-8 months ca. but I think I need a better structured plan.. Anyone can suggest me where i can find / give me a good program for beginner?? I need to figure it out correctly what to do. Also I'm having trouble with cal counting. I thought I was eating much but i never really got much bigger. but i'm afraid I'll increase my bf if i eat more. Advices?

  • Hey twins, what about if you worked out before..stopped for a long time, then want to come back to working out? how fast should you see results then, more or less?

  • How many different exercises should u do if your doing a 3 day split. Like how many on the pull and push day?

  • Instead of using Jimmy struthers, why not just use JR Barthel instead? ;)

  • " fix your shirt bitch " LOL, he doesnt want him to get more attention.

  • Ok so my 1RM is 160 and I Weigh 168. Ive been working out for about a year but only heavy lifting for about 7 months is this good progress?? Honest question cause im the only one that works out in my household.

  • @Bloodhound662 there is no such thing as good or not good ... the only thing you should worry about is are you becoming better ... the only real way to test your progress is to enter competitions and see how well you can do. Everyone is different so thats why i say that. You should also check out my fitness channel here on youtube. I have free fitness videos up and they are in the same style as p90x and insanity. Check it out and if you like it please sub and share with friends. Have a good one.

  • thats bullshit, if you mix up your workout all the time you will get strength gains

  • @TheVindicatedOne i completely agree all you need to do is make sure you are lifting wieght that is challenging and you will always see results. You should also check out my fitness channel here on youtube. I have free fitness videos up and they are in the same style as p90x and insanity. Check it out and if you like it please sub and share with friends. Have a good one.

  • i wish you answer this question , does muster-bating or sex effect bodybuilding progress , i know you will say sure but i am sure it does not mean i have to cut it off right !!

so how many time a week ??!

  • @jasser1989 they said something about, not hacing sex before the gym ur gonna feel weak ass hell, but nothing about masturbating, i masterbated yerturday before the gym and i broke my record on the bench press so i guess it has no effect..i even think its raises ur testosterone level..sex and masturbation, the twins said watch some porn.. :)

  • i miss...."dont be getting all crazy on us man" BRING IT BACK!

  • yeah, my first bench press was 95lbs at a body weight of 105lbs. i gained a lot of strength then and now i don't see myself getting stronger. i changed my routine into a 3 day split a couple weeks ago, hopefully i'll see results every 3 weeks or so.

  • @normanm206 you should start to eat more and do different chest building exercises and then go back to bench. You should also check out my fitness channel. I have free fitness videos up and they are in the same style as p90x and insanity. Check it out and if you like it please sub and share with friends. Have a good one :)

  • my bench max went from 165-305, the first year, NOW I CAN'T GAIN SHIT!

  • @MurkaDurkuh please but a video up, not even tryna brag haha i wanna see this because thats really good

  • @MurkaDurkuh you should eat more and take some weight gainers and you should start to see a difference. You should also check out my fitness channel. I have free fitness videos up and they are in the same style as p90x and insanity. Check it out and if you like it please sub and share with friends. Have a good one :)

  • Really a Fanta shirt man? Come on son...

  • Thanks Kevin for making me yawn. Im going to go take a nap now.

  • Ok if u read thanks

anyways i just did my first deadlift routine

i was doing bench press, deadlift, Squats

the next day later i am SOAR AS FUCK

anyways how many times should i do deadlifts a week

  • @AntphanyL yo man, do them like once a week because that works back and bis and its such a stabilizing movement. but i would def aim it once a week and make sure to work it with the right body parts. no offense, i wouldn't work that with chest (bench press) only because your using sooo much energy. just spit up bench day and deadlift (back) day buddy. make them gains!!!!!

  • @AntphanyL whenever you are lifting heavy weight you should wait about 3 or 4 days between sets because that will give you enough time to recover and be healthy enough to workout that same muscle group again. You should also check out my fitness channel. I have free fitness videos up and they are in the same style as p90x and insanity. Check it out and if you like it please sub and share with friends. Have a good one :)

  • Dude wtf? I never knew JR Barthel took pro hormones.

  • 3 people are un-fucking-fit

  • I present to you Scorpion and Sub-zero unmasked, in the flesh.

  • 25 reps of bench press in one set?!! isn't it too much??

  • You were lifting 135 lbs WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED? damn.

  • i wanna see yo wifess! thumbs up if you agree ..!

  • man this cutting bullshit is some bullshit man lol

  • 225 20+ times?? Call up the Panthers and see if they need some linebackers

  • Quicktime wiv that transformation video boyz

  • its not about how much you can lift, but how healthy you are and how happy you are with your results. not everyone wants to be "arnold" and not everyone can be either. Love your body, stay healthy- peace.

  • @pepeltoro444 Agreed 100%

  • I was like maan, this is fuucking buulshit, this cuttin bulshit, this is sum fucking buulshit! HAHA LMAO

  • @WTSMiniEvenniaLOL yeah you would. To build strength you should lift heavier with fewer reps. 5-6 reps or so

  • I remember when I first started..puttin up 65 lbs lol

  • @mikemagz Same here lol. It took me 6 years, and now I can lift 225 for 16 reps...

  • i involuntarily yawned when kevin yawned

  • This cuttin bullshit? This is some bullshit!

Circular logic never made so much sense until now lmao

  • bitch you beating that damn horse man

  • @rp1234mew bad form

  • @hockeymaster12345 dude i am going down to 90 degrees, nipple line, normal stance doing it perfectly, anyways if thats youre advice keep it to urself ya?

  • @rp1234mew try hit that bitch 1-2 inches above your chest 90 degrees aint enough the top 1-2 inches where you locket is all triceps baby, 25kg increase on a bench in a week is impossible unless your first week was natural and your just starting out and then the 2nd week you're all juiced up, but hey man it's just advice you can do whatever the FUCK you wana do

  • @hockeymaster12345 Thanks, im just startin out, and i cant go more than 90 degrees coz my elbows are fucked, they would snap fizzle and crack if i go below 90. Im just 17 man, all natural no juice.
