Do you ever have problems with your dog constantly having to go to the bathroom or are they pretty focused? My dogs love skating, biking and what have you but every 5 minutes they gotta go even if theyve gone before
Did you take them to special training to learn "mushing" skills? I can't wait to do this with my future huskies! How do you think it would work on a longboard? : )
The dogs took to pulling naturally, although the "Leave it" and "On by" commands we had to work on. I haven't used a longboard yet, but I used to skateboard and surf years ago and I would think it would be fun! Good luck.
haha love this. I took a wipe out with my dog today too. She husky/germ shep so loves to pull as well. I'm not good on skates yet either so I can relate to this, I practiced to where noone was out but SUCH a fun experience roller-blading with your dog.
When I made this video we were just starting out and my skills were less than stellar. The dogs were getting used to the commands and Whoah for stop worked half of the time. Now they are great. They know Gee (Right turn), Haw (Left turn) Hike (Go) and Whoah (Slow down/Stop) The only problems we have are when rabbits or squirrels cross our path. But we are still working on that.
That takes a lot of talent...always hope for a patch of grass or a sturdy pole if your dogs aren't trained as well as these! Generally with my dogs, if I brake with the rollerblades and they feel resistance, they slow down. But teaching them the meaning of "whoa" would be really helpful. Hard to do by yourself though :( Kinda need someone there to reinforce the whoa :P
Haha my silly husky doesn't know how to pull! I think we trained it out of him with obedience classes and loose-leash walking...oops! Trying to get him to learn the difference between harness = pull and gentle leader = loose. Getting there ^_^
Yes, it seems like it's one or the other. They know it's time to pull when they get the harness on, but they still pull a bit when the leash is attached to their regular collars also. It's not as bad as it used to be but they don't walk next to us.
