if you count the song, the guitar is in 4/4 x3 then to 5/4 then to 4/4 again. but the drums remain in a solid 4/4 time signature the entire song.

i think its a rotation of 4/4 x3 then 5/4, then back to 4/4. meshuggah really only use 4/4 actually, you can map out the beat listening to the cymbals.

I agree the examples weren't the best, but do you know how much does it cost to get educated in a conservatory for playing an instrument? Around 600€ a year here. Everyone doesn't get sex how much he wanted it. Then there are parents, who won't let you skate. I actually started skating as a kid, but i stopped it later, due to lack of interest and even more due to my parents worries.

Meshuggah plays 8 stringed Ibanezes, and mostly play the lowest strings. That's why it sounds so bassy.

yeah, they play 8 stringers tuned to F, so they just tune the bass up a note to F and play in unison, though, the intro is played in Bb, and there the bass is one octave below

Im guessing nearly an octave below the normal E for guitar right? It would make sense they have the bass tuned further down also... Thats really badass though. The only thing I know typically close is Devin Townsend's 7 string going to low G.

yea, their guitars are tuned down to F (in most songs, some are in E), as in one step above E, and the bass is down to Bb, so when the guitars play their 7th string, the bass play Bb below that, and when they play the mighty 8th string, the bass play in unison, that's why the intro to this song sounds heavier, because it's in Bb, so the bass is lower. took me some time to figure out...

Actually if you listen, the notes are held up to the next note, although they are palm muted, there is a huge difference between a true staccato note and a palm muted note that's held.

GH2 gave me that extra push I had been needing for all those years to pick up the real thing(much different).

uuhhm, yes you do need an 8 string, or at least a baritone guitar, if you would just tune down a 26.5" scale 7 (or worse, a 25.5" scale 6 string) to play this song it would sound crap compared to a 30" 8 (trust me, I've tried)

But yea, the tension gets to the point where there's no bounce, similarly if you with the try to do Thomas Hakke stuff on drums with no kick back on the feet. Good luck on bleed with no bounce lol.
