You jave to be able to prove direct blood lineage to tribal member on one of the original Indian registry rolls. Dawes, Gideon, etc. As per tribal custom and/or treaty a certain percentage of Native blood is also required for enrollment. Some may not like it, but, it has never been the custom of native tribes to accept non-natives. Were there exceptions in some tribes, yes. Was this the norm, no. Most who were not included in the rolls, choose not to identify themselves as Natives. Cont,,

@GunBroker100 Due to the treatment of Natives, many thought being anything else was preferable. The Cherokee require no less than 25/100 for tribe or band enrollment. This in hopes of marriage between tribal families preserving the blood lines. Racist, I suppose to some. Marriage to non Natives is the same, and the children will because of a member parent. The spouse will not. I've done genealogy for admissions for years. It not as simplistic as you make it sound.

@GunBroker100 yea i guess i did make it sound simple lol however i have learned that it is mostly a different situation for tribes in the east coast and from the southeast of having the bigger issue of proving heritage due to lost documentations or falsified documentations i.e. a person being put down as mullato or negro when they were native..which lead to a lot of ppl who should be enrolled being excluded or my favorite having an ancestor that didn't live in indian terr. cost

We tended to react in kind to such provocations. The implication that Native origins, some how, is a result of blacks introduction to the gene pool we find offensive. The tribes you speak of were few, less than 1%. of the 9000 plus nations of pre-European America.

Ergo, our origins have nothing to do with any of them. Therefore, the title of your videos is misleading and incorrect. This is nothing more than a foot note in Native history. I'm enrolled but I have family that isn't when they should that goes deeper into I think I talked about it in the 3rd or 2nd of this vid but explained why ppl can't get enrolled when they should be if ur not blood then no u shouldn't be enrolled unfort. not all of us were listed when they should have been cause of racism

There were no jobs, and whites were starving our people after the removal. So, my family gave up 'enrollment' and now that the whites have given my nation a casino, the enrolled members have become racist to our own. @celph414 Probably because some people who apply have lost blood content by mixing of races. White, black, Mexican, other Europeans to the point that they have less than eligible Native blood levels. This amount varies by tribe and treaty. Some admit no one that is less than 25% Native blood others more other still less. Is it fair, probably not. Is it the law of the tribe and treaty, yes. The Qaw Paw have members of 1/248th Native blood.

Many of the tribes that are very light in complexion are so due to the miscegenation. Many white men married into tribes for the purpose of gaining trust and gaining land. This was easy to do in tribes that were matrilineal since if a man married into a tribe he was considered a full tribal member with all rights of anyone else in the tribe.

Interesting since th oldest bones found in the Americas far predate the bering strait theory and were found in south america. I'm glad I found this! one large issue my family has is that my great-great grandfather was Creek and his daughter was labeled mulatto, but she was NOT. @cell455 Also that it can easily be estimated that over half of the African American pop. is of partial and descent and easily over half the pop also have European descent. Also the fact that we are uncertain as to how many Native American slaves remained enslaved in the 1700s and 1800s. It's very clear that there were tens of thousands of native slaves on the east coast that were with african slaves we just dont know exactly how long they stayed enslaved even though indian slavery ended in 1750

mark shriver studies are not complete yet ,but so far it's on basically on point.the african popuation by the early 1800's was larger than the native american population,it's no way that most african americans would have native blood,so i trust the study on that.now for the whites genes in african american,so far about 75% of african americans have some form of white admixture,but over about 80% of african americans have admixture,the rest do not.,most other blacks in u.s. too are unmixed.

@cell455 ok keep in mind...African and Native Americans have been making babies since the 1500s. There are clear documentations that marriages between the two groups too place and not a low scale. Europeans had a bad habitat of not mentioning things if they occurred on what they considered a low lvl (i.e. village of 50 ppl murdered but will talk about hundreds being killed. I know for a fact that still 2 date we're not able to test for full ancestry period.

Our tribe the Seminole of Florida took in runaway slaves. This is a fact. We protected them BUT they stayed with the tribe and married back into it and did not become part of the black culture or the white culture. They became Seminoles stayed that way. They did not end up in Chicago slums and on white TV. Since you are Creek and Shawnee you must be from Oklahoma. Or are you sure you do not have a Cherokee princess grandmother? If someones who is a real Native, it will be a joke. We can see that there is definitely black in these people and the fairer skinned may have had a white great great great parent. However, these people who want to be Natives have a distinctive black shaped body and distinctive African- African American features.
