• One is the lonely number... thanks a bunch radio station for reminding me of my place right before the valentines :'( *forever alone*

  • This number was number 1 for me in 1970!

  • drummer is funk driven like tower of power

  • Thanks for this upload..I like how they spliced in the on the street shots at the beginning!

  • 13 people are in for VERY BAD LUCK lol

  • Why are you guys using computer code? Omg my eyes it burns

  • He looks like a hippie but the song is awesome

  • Ah, seventies fashion. Good lord. xD

  • Great Huffington post blog!

  • Thumbs up if you know Nilsson wrote this song.

  • Happy 11-11-11 my people's. :)

    Have an extraordinary day!!!

  • Thank you Huffington Post!

  • thumbs if huff post brought you here!

  • Chuck negron Is my uncle

  • VEVO

  • remix is much better

  • This is so cool! Chuck is having such a good time, and he was so into feeling the song as he sang it! And he's got that high harmony going on! I just LOVE it!

  • I was 17 in 1975 and fell in love with Chuck's long hair. So incredibly sexy.

  • awesome and touching song

  • between 1969-1973 TDN sold more albums that anyone! Fact! Check Wikipedia!

  • I love this song!

  • damn I'm born too late :|

  • I wish I could grow a mustache like that today...

    one is the loneliest number...

  • This is one of those cases where u have a simple lyric that, after all, seems to be such a good poem. Man, this is genius... One is the loneliest number. =)

  • this song is super good. I love how they play each other.

  • @mpcolucci12 But now because of the dissolution.

    It is very disappointing.

  • @TODDHALL777 So true. But lets try to set that aside and remember how great all three singers were together so long ago. My childhood days. :)

  • I grew up in the 70's and i had the most fun especially listening to music like this. Awesome!!!!!!!!

  • im 28, when i was younger my mom used to listen to all this old bullshit....this is one of the few songs i liked!!!!

  • <3 the crooning and screaming

  • Big and very good band.

  • Great song!

  • Chuck might have been fried here but he was one great singer! That man could hit one hell of a high note that I have ever heard!

  • Just listen to it its actually really touching

  • Just listin to it its actualy really toching

  • One surely is the loneliest number looking for a number two to become one

  • Past events or history.

    Boogie Nights.

    Wonderland .

  • @TODDHALL777 just sayin its nuts im glad that chuck is doin better

  • We had Three Dog Night. Today they have the Jonas Brothers. I feel sorry for them.

  • The best thing is he is not on drugs today and has faith in his Lord Jesus. So he is still a awesome singer and performer in my opinion

  • Three Dog Night featured THREE members. Chuck Negron by far rounded out the three. Trouble maker...maybe at the time when things were out of control. But now,,,clean and sober. And so very talented. Would love to see this group TOGETHER again. Fame, fortune and drugs can interfere with ones rational thinking. For the fans....PLEASE try to reunite!!!

  • Where's Shermie?

  • Incredible, where do you here such powerfull vocals with today's bands

  • Three Dog Night are a fucking joke without Chuck!

  • @spiderdragon1969 I still really like the band, its just not the same. All three of them are very talented singers... together they made up Three Dog Night, but it seems just different for me now.

  • @bsps98 say it again

  • Japanese Subs?

  • nice intro to the video!5* great tune!

  • A couple of years ago my friends and I were talking about forming a "tribute" band to 3 Dog Night(funny, never seen one yet) but decided we just couldn't do it justice to the fine vocals of these guys! Plus none of us could hit that high note...!

  • There's a tribute band called, Harmony. They have several videos here on Youtube. Type in, "Three dog night tribute band". They're pretty good.

  • What a testament to their talent; all of their fans preference is for a song that isnt theirs.....

  • Lots of hendrix fans like All Along the Watchtower but I don't hold that against Jimmy...

  • Even though this was the first version of this song that I knew and liked, I now prefer the original by Harry Nilsson who wrote many great songs.

  • 60s and 70s ... yes ... for some reason.

  • That might explain it its a great song though

  • I think he got stoned before this he is kinda wobbly and does weird things with his hands.

  • @RandomXv Everybody was stoned in 75

  • nice comment! though i was only 7...i remember those days and the people very well...wish most of that decade was back...

  • @xxdjcharlierockxx Yes! I must admit those days of the 60s and 70s! (HIPPIE DAYS) I mean WERE THE BOMB. YES! I'm so glad I grew up in that DECADE or TWO because it was the BEST.

  • Respond to this video... I think the video was great considering it was back in the 70s! and that weird thing he was doing with his hands! Well let's just say he probably was STONED! So what!!! Back then I think that's what a lot of people that were HIPPIES did just for something to do! And I think going on STAGE to PERFORM your stuff in front of hundreds of people was a really good reason to get STONED! HEE HEE. Chances are most or all of the audience was probably STONED as WELL!

  • i love this song n i agree with you MARaGEx04.

im 17 years ago but this time could be great!

  • i am only 13yrs old and i wish i was in the 70's looks like the cool times

  • @MARaGEx04 Your so RIGHT! It was the BEST, not to mention it was THE COOLEST TIME to GROW UP. (EVEN WITHOUT DRUGS) It was still the COOLEST TIME.

  • @MARaGEx04 yeah it was MUCH less stressful...you could see the sky clear as day and the summers were eternal :D

  • fecking bolivian djs never put this song. Thanks youtube i met this great song and band

  • Dig that mellotron

  • what a great song, performance and band!! Why are they Not in the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame??

  • unfortunately, there are alot of bands that should be there that are'nt, i think the hall of fame is a damn joke!...3 dog night...raspberries...grass roots...and many, many more should be there!!

  • 1910 fruitgum co.!

  • the hall of FAME is about FAME not about talent...yes it kinda is bullshit but they have other places for the talent...Grateful Dead are rightful heirs of the Hall of fame and i beleive if i want to induct the first band to the hall of "talent" it would be "The String Cheese Incident": Fuck yeah.

  • @Heepster69 Cuz the R'n'R hall of fame is a lie and the music world is corupt -.-

  • @Heepster69 Because this is not their song. It was written by Harry Nilsson and this is a cover!

    You learn something new everyday!

  • @Heepster69 ITA. I wondered that about great bands like The Doors, The Hollies, and others who for the longest time seemed ignored by the Rock Hall of Fame until they were finally inducted. Their turn will come I'm sure but they need to hurry-these guys aren't getting any younger. Three Dog Night is by far one of the greatest bands of the 1970's era.

  • These are the golden years man

  • awsome song.70s forever !!

  • How does one "do" a number?

Why didn't this song go straight to number "one"?

    Why ask why?

  • Three Dog Night's "One" (written by Nilsson) was the trio's first top-10 hit in June 1969 reaching #5 in America. TDN would total an amazing 18 top 20 hits from 1969-1975 to become one of the world's biggest pop bands during the 1970s.

  • one!!

  • Long live the 70's!!!!

    Awsome video!

  • Dont forget the 60s & 80s

  • Yes, I agree with you to 100%, but I wrote 70's now, since this was recorded in the 70's. :)

    I hope you're having a great day! :)

  • Thanks man !

  • '65-'75... greatest era of music, no motherfucking doubt whatsoever!

  • i hear ya

  • @mussman717word I totally AGREE DUDE! It was the BEST.....

  • dr house

  • I miss Chuck,Shermie, and the dude on drums

  • I agree with you.

His [The Three dog night] does not exist is too lonely.

  • @shmbla73 The "dude" on the drums was Floyd Sneed. A better drummer was never born.

  • @shmbla73 Ya Floyd Sneed..what a groove

  • @shmbla73 the dude on the drums was SUPER HOT

  • Spent a lot of quarters playing this

on the juke box when it first came out in 71, 72.

  • Epic ._.

  • Chuck looks and sounds just fine - as he always does - he's not a robot that repeats exactly the same each performance.

  • I agree! I just wish I could have been there!!

  • Heard the same thing from his own account, He was always trashed beyond belief, and after shows, would go in the back and throw his guts up.. funny, as a kid, that's one thing I NEVER thought of haah, just loved the music

  • Chuck should have stayed with the program when he sang this song. What 's going on here? Was it the drugs or was this just wierd? If I'd been at this concert and had heard this rendition, I might have gotten up and left.

  • What's your problem with the performance? Are you one of those who think a concert should exactly replicate the record?

  • theyre the band that made it, they can sing it how they want!

  • One is my favorite song too!

  • 3 Dog Night are number 1 and they rate as such. ;)

  • Love this song---especially the high

notes that Chuck reaches---no one can

    do that like he can.

    Peace and love.

  • what about 11 two 1 put togther????

    is that a lonely #

  • It could be a good solution :)

  • this is good a good song

  • Yes, three dog night. Good stuff.

  • Is this the original version of this song?

  • Original song . written and recorded by Harry Nilsson.

I love three lead vocalists, Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron, and Cory Wells.

Chuck Negron is best! But he was a troublemaker????

His voice is like the best among the three.

  • They all had amazing voices.. Just that Chuck's is geared more towards pop, Danny's was more for rock and Cory's was total blues.. :)

  • Sold Gold Records off his wall to support his drug habit. Literally! That said;...amazing talent!!!!!!!!

  • Indeed :)

  • He wasn't a troublemaker, he was a complete drug addict. read his book. He's completely fried out of his gourd right here.

  • Yes, I knew that. I read their history.

They bring to each best song .

but who's sing????Easy to be Hard.

  • @TODDHALL777 what trouble??

  • @TheDavey222

He wasn't a troublemaker, he was a complete drug addict. read his book. He's completely fried out of his gourd right here.

    From thorfinnhrolf

  • @TODDHALL777 now i look close..ya..he's fried

  • Per Wikipedia, Three Dog Night's 1985 spring/summer tour was postponed to allow Chuck Negron time to check into rehab to combat his recurring drug problem. As it turns out, Chuck suffered a relapse during the tour and was fired by the band in December 1985, a month after this show...and that was the last time all three lead vocalists performed together in Three Dog Night.

  • One is the Loneliest # ,It's just not good anymore that you went away.,One is the Loneliest, that you you ever knew.1 is the Loneliest#. So love Three Dog Night,

Right on (Classic's are the bomb).Smile & Peace

  • I love these cheesy songs. Too bad for WMG taking down the original.

  • yea they are really annoying when it comes to the muting. fricken muted like 4 of my vids. and it was just background music

  • NOT CHEESY!!!!

  • the best song EVER!!!

  • One May be the loneist number but this song is number one in my heart!!!

  • This is not from 1972. This is footage from the "Coming Down Your Way" tour of 1975, more than likely. The band here no longer includes original members guitarist Michael Allsup, bassist Joe Schermie, and drummer Floyd Sneed. These are their replacements here, including Dennis Belfield on bass. Second keyboardist Skip Konte is also here, and he joined in 1973. Vocals are still great, but this band never came close to the fire of the original group of musicians.

  • You're right.

This is footage from the "Coming Down Your Way" tour of 1975.

I've been saw tour in japan 1972.

That time original members guitarist Michael Allsup, bassist Joe Schermie, and drummer Floyd Sneed. That was Very happy and exciting.

  • @uriah768ok Drummer is Mickey McMeel and guitarist is Al Ciner, of "The American Breed" fame.
