What natural Bush or tree bark can to make cordage, can you use palm fronds or hemp to make cordage? What about willow? I use to see my grand mother use straw, lime from coral, something else and vines from trees in the lagoon to make cordage's but there was was too young to remember the 4th ingredient, Have any Idea? it was used to soften the vine.. when she mixed it with ashes from the stone oven, which she baked TI-TI& corn bread and Lechon inside? What do you use to make natural cordage.
When I was a little kid, I used to watch my daddy, making a net to land bass. He would tell me, "Son, you can buy a net and use it the same, but you can be prouder of it, if you build it yourself! I was too young to understand the principle. I remember he had a 2x4 with holes in it and a movable wooden stob, that he'd tie around. Watching you reminded me so much of watching him. It would take him a long time, to do the same thing as it took you, just a few minutes to do! I applaud you, sir!
I'm a beginner and would like to make a regular dip net for my bow.....but trying to figure out where the starting point would be......this is without the ring in the bottom of the net.....my original net for this bow is mesh instead of the metal ring.....do you just start by making the complete net square???? and if so how do you start????
@tubeme620 I think you could start on a strait line and butt up the loops just like he does on the ring. Then tie up the line to make the center, or "piko" (what my grampa told me it's called)
I just used this method to put a new bottom in a crab ring...came out great!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! To those who were asking about the lap jig, just make one!!! I used an old cutting board and a couple screws....Unless you plan on going pro, this will do....Looking for a ring?? I plan to make a trout net from an old tennis rackett from goodwill!!
I will try an net search for th lap jig and supplies. I just have to try to make one now, just gotta. Thanks for sharing so much feel free to contact me if ya find out some more info, thanks. Peace
I would think you would have to make it yourself, but I will ask the fellow who is now making these nets, the fellow in the video does not make them anymore.
how big is the bow ?

I recommend that you patent and sell the jig. I would buy one now if they were for sale.
