thank you, i had forgotten the title of this show but I remembered seeing the "Cat Trek" episode and for years I've been trying to figure out what I saw.
OMG. This takes me back to Saturday mornings and my 3rd grade year. Kids back then LIVED for their favorite Saturaday cartoons. All the toys and first crushes. No ipods, texting, or internet. Just kids being kids. What memories.
WOW!!!! I've had this theme song and opening skit in the back of my head for . . . 35 years?? Can't believe someone has found it and put it on youtube. THANKS SO MUCH!!! This brings back sooo many memories! :-)
i had a VHS release of some of these toons, as a kid... bat cat and tarzan and lone ranger, i think, were on the tape.
funny thing to release in denmark in the late 80s, come to think of it.. guess they were part of a package deal with he-man, bravestarr and the other big hits filmation had at the time.
I have had this opening theme song in my head since I was 4 years old (back in '75). Wow, its amazing how music can get inside a childs head and stay there. Thank you for posting this!
The series in fact was based on a 1947 movie titled "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" starring Danny Kaye. The animated series, produced by Filmation, was combined with animation and live-action that ran for one season on NBC from 1975-1976. And to think that Waldo Kitty would run up against "The Bugs Bunny Show' on CBS. Instead,it clobbered it in the ratings.
That's right and it was for copyright infringement which is why Filmation later changed it to the New Adventures Of Waldo Kitty for their syndicated package series Groovie Goolies and Friends.
That would be great if I can see this neat series again. I remember watching them on syndication, with the live action scenes removed. I wish I could've seen the live action segments.
And did you know that Howard Morris (1919-2005) sung the theme to this series as well as being one of the voice actors? He also is best known for voicing Jughead on all the Filmation produced versions of The Archies as well as other shows such as Will The Real Jerry Lewis Please Sit Down, Mission:Magic (with Rick Springfield) and My Favorite Martians?
The order in which Waldo's alter egos jump into the animation is: Catman (center), Catzan, Robin Cat (?), Captain Herc, and the Lone Kitty.

KPRC (NBC Houston) gave this series 1/2 a year. They knocked off this series to have The Hilarious House of Frightenstein.

FAIL! The video's been time compressed! It's Waldo Kitty, NOT Waldo Chipmunk!

The show deserved a longer run. The only reason it was cancelled was that the James Thurber estate filed a lawsuit.

You're right, though it was renamed The New Adventures Of Waldo Kitty for the syndicated Groovie Goolies And Friends in 1978.

And hopefully they are available in English. I have a clip of one episode on my own channel, but it's in French.

I for one would love that. I'm such a big fan of all these old cartoons. If you have them in English, even better.
