He was incompetent as attorney general and was beaten on about every silly charge and case he brought, especially against Hoffa. He was only retained as attorney general by LBJ because it would have been political suicide to fire him because of JFK's death. LBJ hated him and his incompetence. Nobody, and I mean nobody did more for the rank and file working man than Jimmy Hoffa did. While other union leaders wheeled and dealed behind the scenes for sweetheart deals for themselves and their labor aristocracy while sacrificing the jobs of the ham and eggers, Jimmy fought to get those so called lowly rank and filers real benefits. He consorted with the mob but they did not run him or the union.

JFK, was shot because Joseph Kennedy did not pay his debt to the mob, for his kid winning the election in Illinois. Bobby Kennedy was killed because he went after Hoffa and the Mob, when he was really supposed to stay away from both parties. His father promised that, when he bought the election for JFK. Old man Kennedy was nothing but a bootlegger crook. Made ALL of his money from running RUM out of Canada.

Jimmy Hoffa is my hero not some silver spoon in the mouth politician. Jimmy knew about hard working people and he understood them not like that hypocrite RFK. Really, RFK was going after Hoffa for pretty everything his Dad did. Maybe Bobby had Daddy issues. Either way, Jimmy was a real man and may he rest in peace where ever he is.

I'm not a big fan of this film but I've always liked this scene. Someone needed to tell RFK where he could stick his sanctimonious b.s.!
The film, IMO, takes too many unnecessary liberties with the facts and leaves out a ton of good material that actually happened. Also, the film feels cramped, like a stage production on the big screen.

The actor playing RFK is terrible. The attempted Boston accent is one of the worst that I have ever heard.
I never understood why the Kennedy's tried so hard to put mafia leaders in jail, when they knew that it was the mafia that bought the election for JFK. Anyone with common sense would know to leave them alone.

it was jfks dad who bought them the election not the mob. they had to go after them because it was bobbys job. just because movies glamorize it, organized crime does hurt a lot of communities and people. during those times it was outta control and hoover wanted nothing to do with it with the FBI. the CIA was just as bad if not worse than the mob. america needed to be cleaned up during that time and to a large degree it was. the mafia has never been as strong. hoffa and rfk both died violently

if you guys want to know more about this. read the book " i heard you paint houses" its based on the life of frank " the irishman" sheeran. he tells everything he knows about the kennedys, the mob and the teamsters. he also confesses that he is the one who killed jimmy hoffa and he tells you in details how he did it. its a really great book and soon martin scorsese is gonna make a film about it starting robert de niro!!!

Jack Nicholson was so good as Hoffa in this film I nearly didn't recognize him. Kevin Anderson looks and sounds like Bobby. Hoffa was arrogant as all hell:
the more so when up against the wall.
Put Bobby down for his youth and
derided him, as attorney general, for
being no more than JFK's puppet.
Bobby independently took on Hoffa
and his ties to organized crime, while
he was Teamsters president.
