  • Jolies ,j'adore votre musique...

  • Hello Richard, thank you for having answered my messge.

I asked you how you make to put 2 sounds sets(groups) as in the demo set 70-3 ( piano+voice ) by playing tennessee waltz.

Excuse my bad English which I compose with Reverso.

    I estimate(appreciate) all your demos a lot.

You know the painter Fernand Léger.

Merry Christmas(New Year's) Eve and good year 2012.

  • bravo richard,

j'ai le même accordéon,mais je n'arrive pas comme vous à mettre 2 sons ensemble comme dans votre démo set 70-to 3 (Piano+Voice).

    si vous pouvez m'aider !... merci d'avance.

  • I'm not sure if I understand--do you want to add piano + voice as in set 70, register 3? If so, just layer the voice to the piano using menu 6.12. Or email me and I could send you more information.

  • Looks like an I.V. infiltration on your right hand. Hope you are well.

  • A wonderful presentation, what is possible with Roland! GReetings Dieter

  • Thank you, Richard, for showing us how you access the sets. Now I understand how you are able to utilize the many voices and registers. I admire your proficiency on the Roland and your fine musicianship! Many thanks for your instructional videos.

  • Dear Sir,

May I ask will the FR-7x play any sound with the bellow closed?

I am a beginner accordion player and having difficulty in co-ordinating all the moves together.

I was wondering with the FR-7x may be I can practise one hand at a time and then put the moves together. I was told with the earlier model FR-2 and some minus one song function I can do that.

Thank you very much for your advice in advance.

  • Thank you for this excellent demonstration. You are a true master of the Roland accordion.

  • I just listen to you again and again and I truly like your style and the way you organized your sets. I play only on the italian set 4 and tweek and layer the orchestral voices banjo plus harmonica, vibs with flute, piano with strings, altosax with brass. and i use the bass drum and jazz cymbal on the acoustic bass and guitar, piano. for the latin rhythm i change the chord to organ and layer it with a woodblock

  • I thought it was a dumb question after I had posted, then looked at your title but, it just shows what nice sounds you can get, it you are prepared to delve and tinker. thanks for sharing this with me, it sort of opens possibilities on what you can acheive. Thanks a lot

  • Very impressive indeed. Is this using factory settings, or have you tweaked or changed any registers. The sounds were really authentic. I have to look again at my Roland!

  • Good question. I definitely am not using the factory sets, although in some cases I borrowed ideas from their examples. Each of the sets I played are from a group of 13 sets I programmed with the sounds I like. I wouldn't say I tweaked but rather started pretty much from scratch. In every set, and even across sets, I'm trying to order the registers in a way that I can remember the positions without having to look at the screen. Then I test them on gigs and tweak some more.

  • Thanks, Mike. I'm afraid I'm not the right person to do the "how to" video. My way isn't quite "by the book," but it works for me. What's involved is coupling the desired Bass, Treble and Chord section voices in Menu 2.12, 2.13, and 2.14. There's not enough space to explain further, but once you get the concept it's not difficult, just very time-consuming. There are at least two youtubes that demonstrate the process in different ways. Maybe I could respond separately if you email me.

  • Very good demonstration. I am having Limex - midi in my accordion, but very interested which other good sounds other companies can produce. Good to compare it. Greetings from Germany! Dieter

  • Yes, there are a number of different systems. What I like most about the Roland is the ability to change dynamics via bellows and touch sensitivity rather than using a foot pedal, and it also is amazingly portable and self-contained.

  • @bakersfieldaccordion Thanks Richard. I agree to your oppinion, that can be important points. Greetings Dieter

  • belle demonstration,agreable a entendre,bravo

  • Very beautiful sound *****

  • Gracias, Richard

  • Richard, glad to see - and hear! - you again, I've been missing you ... :-) great video, as always. And a perfect demonstration of the wonderful instrument we have. Your sets and registers are really very well elaborate.

    Silvia

  • Hi Silvia,

Someone recently mentioned your work on the Roland users group, and the praise was richly deserved. I've been out of commission for weeks while trying to polish up my sets and responding to many, many emails. Looking forward to doing several new songs I have in mind if you don't beat me to them.

    Richard

  • @bakersfieldaccordion Richard, can't wait for your new songs ... I doubt that I will beat you to them. I had an injury in my left hand and couldn't play for weeks. Well, two weeks ago I started practicing again but I felt like a beginner ... thanks for informing me of the comment in the Roland user group concerning my work. Wow, that's really a motivation for me to continue.

    Greetings,

    Silvia

  • You're really awesome!

Can someone tell me what the song before "take me to the moon" is?

Maybe someone has time to list all the songs in order? That would be mostly appreciated!

  • That's a fair question. I didn't have a list I followed, so I had to go back and review the video. Anyway, there were excerpts (sometimes quite brief) from a total of 34 songs. There's not enough room to list them here, but I added the list to the description above. Just click the "see all" tab above and you'll see the list at the end.

  • We can see that the preset links achieve seamless transitions among the grill registrations of the FR-7X. You seldom used the master bar and you did not appear to need the orchestra tab, Do you think we players who program linked preset sounds in their grill switches could also use this one-touch method, avoid fumbling, produce better sounds, and memorize our registrations faster? Thank you for this demonstration. It was a real eye-opener and is in contrast with the Roland manual, IMHO.

  • Very observant. I do use the master bar occasionally, but with caution because it can take you out of "preset" mode so that you cannot quickly access the registers you've carefully programmed with the bass, chord, and treble combination. This only occurs in the preset registers that you have programmed with a solo Orchestra voice.

Many 7x owners routinely use the orchestra tab (register 15) to access the orchestra voices, but I greatly prefer the linked preset approach that I'm using here.

  • wow - thanks for sharing this --really great choices of sound --all good and some I loved more than others.

    Great playing as always !!
