I think it's ridiculus that Stephenie Meyer just had a dream and then "came up" with the whole Twilight story. Sure, the forbidden love story is a classic, but twilight is a big ripoff mix between Vampire Diaries, Roswell and Buffy, all shows (or books) made before twilight! wow, it was good to get that of my chest. Twilight borrows heavily from Roswell. That's apparent. But I think Liz is a better character then Bella simply because Liz has a life outside of Max even though he does end up taking it over towards the third season onward at the end of the series. But Liz's life didn't revolve solely around Max like Bella's character does with Edward. I actually think for the most part Edward loved Bella more then Max loves Liz, because Edward is faithful to Bella and doesn't break her heart.

You may think him sleeping with Tess was awesome, I don't. I think after everything Liz did for him she deserved better then what she was given at the end of season two. After Max slept with Tess everything Max and Liz were to one another was broken.

@solidarity7 I agree that the writers should have never had Max and Tess sleep together..they went too far with that and definitely too far with her getting pregnant. However, I can't blame Max because his heart was broken and he believed he was going to have to identify with his alien side to get over what he thought was true- in his mind she slept with Kyle who was his enemy at the time (her ex-boyfriend). it's complicated and that is why Max is forgiven.

@solidarity7 especially when Tess told Liz that every time she kissed him, he was thinking of Liz. That was closure for Liz and the audience to see that he never wanted Tess..that she was only comfort for him in a time where he was hurting and felt that Liz betrayed him in the mix-up. He didn't do it for revenge..he was hurting. It's completely different. even though I understand it, I still think the series would have been so much better without Tess completely.

That was well done! Very well done. It's so strange because Twilight has a lot of character similarities to Roswell. Michael with Emmet's voice was perfect because Michael was against Liz knowing and Rosalie is almost just like Isabel. I do like Roswell more although I didn't like Tess so much. I did for a while until she killed Alex and tricked Max. Think SMeyers was subconsciously (she had a dream) inspired by Roswell??

Stephenie Meyer was inspired by Roswell for sure. I still love Twilight but nothing will ever compare to Roswell in my opinion. One reason why Max & Liz's love is better is because Max has no desire to kill Liz. I don't see Edward thirsting after Bella's blood and wanting to kill her as romanitc. I know he restrains himself which is an act of deep love but it doesn't compare to the way Max looks at Liz. he never has feelings of killing her.

Now this is not to say that Stephanie Meyer isn't a good writer. She is. She's excellent. This is just to show that, although she did in fact create Twilight, she was definitely 100 percent inspired by this show and it's storyline.

oh yeah, and roswell came out in 1998 or 99 i think. and twilight came out in what, 2005. so definitely an inspiration for sure. but anyway,

They are both pillars of the foundation of how I view my life in general. The only reason I gave Twilight a chance is because the 1st trailer I saw reminded me of the pilot of Roswell.

Stephenie has always said that Twilight started from the dream she had. Did she watch Roswell before and take elements from it? Maybe, maybe not, I haven't found anything to say she did or did not watch Roswell before. However every theme Twilight and Roswell cover has been done before countless times.

She has said, Twilight's main inspiration was Pride and Prejudice; NM was Romeo & Juliet; Eclipse was Wuthering Heights; BD was Merchant of Venice and Midsummer Night's Dream. I'm no literary buff, but I can say with all certainty Roswell borrowed heavily from R&J at the very least, I remember their promos.

Both story's foundation has been there for 100s of years. It's just presenting the same fundamental things in new ways. Just about every movie/book/tv show does this.

10. The fact that Both characters investigate on their own to find out the truth. Bella does her research with the books and computer. Liz takes max's pencil to check DNA.

1. The fact that Liz narrates the story and does the voice over. Bella does the same thing. Not to mention the very openings of twilight and roswell both deal with death. Liz talks about death. Dido the Bella.

3. The fact that the Hero, has a secret and is not human. Edward and Max.

5. The fact that the Deputy is a Cherokee Indian that lived off the reservation just outside of town. HELLO! Anyone know of Jacob? she brought that same element, with the fact that the indians themselves are the same type of mysterious entity in both stories.

this was awesome! the reason i got drawn into twilight is because from the moment i first saw the trailer a few weeks ago - it reminded me of the greatest show ever IMO Roswell. after years of sitting on it, i just finished the Roswell "season 4" books last week before i watched twilight. so i got the twilight books and will start reading them next week. hopefully they can fill my roswell void. i doubt it can overtake roswell but it definitely be by its side.

they're out of print now which is why their so damn expensive, the finale in particular (Turnabout) because there's supposedly 75,000 in the world. i bought them back when they were coming out except for the last 2 which i bought in 05. quick checking amazon, only book 2 is still available for face price. you might get lucky at used book stores or at a library but you're probably never gonna find it at a barnes & noble or a borders.

Roswell is far better than Twilight can ever be ... the amount of characterization and development of relationships between the cast, it was a great realistic(in terms of relationships) teen drama/soap ... until it got weirdly sci-fi.

Suffice to say, the premise is similar in both products, but Roswell pulls it off better.
