If it wasn't for this station, I probably wouldn't have gotten into oldies & Motown as much as I did. Thankfully, Sirius Satellite Radio replicates it pretty well, but the memories of the original MAGIC 96.1 still remain. Glad we live in a world without radio commercials now though. Don't miss those.
Wolfman Jack was born in New York City but had to go to Mexico to get his big break in radio. The transmitter there in 1963 was 250,000 watts and reached around the country. Read his great autobiography "Have Mercy!" He had quite a life. I listened to him in the 70's and saw him in person once. I'm sorry he died so young.
