Just exactly how it is! Excellent catch of an average monsoon day in Tucson! I get out and take photos and videos every year during monsoon, especially the storms where the rainbows and lightning are spectacular!
i wish monsoons were as intense as they used to be, i remeber when everything would get flooded and lighting would strike close as hell and the power would go out. i miss the smell of rain on the desert and palo verde trees
Here's a question. Why does the westside stay pretty much dry while the Eastside is drowning in two feet of water? Is it because of A Mountain and the Catalina Mountains that make a rain shadow? I used to live on the westside and I always got mad when it rained like crazy arose the highway on the Eastside
Hey Everyone, are Monsoons Bad? Can they be Bad? I'm in L.A. Area of California- I was looking at Tucson AZ & Santa Fe AZ as a "Better place to live" Do you guys like it there? Does it Flood? (Please be honest!) Do you guys have earth quakes? Tornadoes? Hurricanes? Floods? Is there a Big Drug or Meth Problem out there? Do you guys like it? Is it Fun? Boring? Do people Get Murdered? Kidnapped? I am Very Serious- I know it sounds like I"m playing, I am researching right now thank you!
You know what would be perfect music for this? Rainer. He was a Tucson musician (died in 1997, I think) and he did this one piece that was a loop of just some quiet dobro guitar playing titled "Opening Aunt Dora's Box in 6/8" that would be perfect for the magical quality of this beautiful video. I think I can load it into my computer and send it to you if you want to hear it. (Real Player)
Wow. this is incredibly beautiful ! I used to live in Tucson but I moved away in 1989. It's very beautiful to watch the light and the motion of the clouds. If I got it together to make some music for this video, I'll find a way to make it available to you. Maybe it could be some Rainer Ptacek-inspired type of music. (hoping you know who Rainer was?)
i live in the Catalina Foothills(Top of Swan St).. Monsoons have been Crap for the last 3 yrs in my neighborhood. We get MORE rain in our little area in the Winter. Go figure... Cool vid.. Cats rock., and WE have the best Sunsets here in Tucson.
this is the only nice thing about tucson. not only cause its fun to watch the rain pour down, but because its fun to watch the arizona people run for shelter
@goldfangz No. Seriously, though, it's a good idea. I will try to add music to future videos, I'm just not very artistic like that and get worried if it's the right song, if it's synchronized correctly, etc.
Stunning footage! I've lived in Tucson for three years and have wanted to tell the folks back home what this monsoon phenomenon is all about. I'm posting this!
Thanks for that. i consider myself a tucsonan and a kentuckian, since i've spent about 1/2 of my life in each. i'm back in KY now and i miss those storms more than anything else (but i miss a lot about tucson)
I used to live in Tucson in the late 60's early 70's, I haven't been back since the late 80's, I sure miss it sometimes, especially when it's 40 below up here in Duluth, MN.
Yup. There's a formula to scientifically determine when the Monsoons "offiically" start, but the actual date varies each year: most often it's in July. They last for a handful of weeks, then we're on to our fall (the cool summer).
I loved the cats ! This is my favorite time of the year. I grew up in Tucson, now live in Benson. The clouds, thunder and lightning are my faverite things. Great video ! I will put this into favorites. Thanks P.

This is great, I grew up on the Far East side of Tucson, raised my kids in the foothills.
We moved to the Bay Area (Cali) and I miss the monsoons the most.
Thanks for sharing. Hey what was the guy in the white truck doing?
