You guys would be surprised on how many younger ppl enjoy and listen to this stuff. Ive been enjoying such pieces for years now and im 23 but i will agree so few of us are out there =C
@orochitaco I couldn't agree more. it's sad that classical music is more prevalent in modern culture, especially with the youth of today. I'm 18 and I love classical music; especially Beethoven.
Such a beautiful piece, there is so much in this music that simply cannot be explained in words, its perfect, it's sad that most of the younger generation mock classical music, I guess it's too deep for some people to handle.
Think for a second. Humans do not care for the fate of the future, why should they? They do not benefit from it. That's the first problem with humans, but it doesn't mater. In the end, nothing you ever do will even conceivably matter. You can only enjoy the little time you have. We will not get off of this planet. We are bound to earth... this is something that, I feel, to be a truth for humans... it's all a sad painted picture. A picture painted beautifully, with no purpose in mind.
This song... some feel it represents the hopelessness and sadness of life, while also representing the happiness of it... I don't see it that way though... I see no happiness in life as a whole. We are a doomed species. We do not care for the future generations, because we have no reason to. Our fate is to live on this planet, and die on this planet. There truly is no point to living, perhaps this has been said many times, but it is true. Religion is just a desperate attempt to find a point..
To me, this piece symbolizes that- like the moon- life can be dark, it can be scary and low, and sometimes hidden or repetitive. But yet, it can be full of bliss, happiness, high notes... That kind of thing.
Wait a minute, I'm 13 and I sound like my music teacher... Oh crap.
If ever Aliens landed on earth and asked for one song that represents humanity, it MUST be Moonlight Sonata. All the three movements, in the descending order.
Movement 3: Agony of Adolescence, where everything is in the extreme.
Movement 2: Stability of the Adult life.
Movement 1: Slow, elegant yet sad, representing the Old age.
that game first exposed me to the third movement of this song, in the last level, that i had never known existed. it was years and years later that i looked it up to see what it was.
i now consider it to be the greatest piece of music in existence.
"Nobody will ever understand the torment I feel. The torment of an extremly attractive ninja who is lusted by pretty much every girl he's ever met. Mine is indeed a tormented existance, filled with torment, and girls. Girls with their breasts. They torment me so."
@shan304 well he wrote this around 200 years before youtube was invented so i think that he gets the right to have his work shared without gum commercials
My mum used to play this on our piano when she was feeling stuck, now its so soothing to me and i could use it every night to send me off to sleep. It's so calming.
actually from what I know he wrote this song for a blind girl who wanted to know what the moon looked like, and because Beethoven was partially deaf, he couldn't hear very well.So he wrote this song for the blind little girl, so she could know what the moon looked like, and when he asked her how it sounded she said. "Exactly like the moon would look like" then thanked him
This music is beautiful, true music like this connects to the heart. I'm learning Moonlight Sonata, and I reckon it's a hard peice of music. But I can't wait to be able to finally do it and feel like I've accomplished something GREAT! Sorry for my awful spelling :)
I KNOW in my heart I was the girl he wrote this song too. In my past life I can still feel it now. Every time I hear this song I see they whole picture play in my head. I loved him, but not enough so I left him for another man. That's why he made this song. Sad and SO true. It moves me like nothing I've ever felt in my life! Sorry, just is what it is.
dont get me wrong i love my xbox and big tv and all the fancy crap that comes with it but when i hear this song i wonder would the world be a better place without it all, im only 35 and i can c how the world has changed since i was a kid, i look at my kids now and they cant have the freedom i had(when i was there age) cos theres 2 many weridos out now, the world has become a rat race
@mwrockie true... im 12 and now we kinda envy our parents when they said they could ask anyone to play with them... and your friend who is a boy doesn't notice you cuz he too busy playing whatever it is hes playing to notice me or anything for that matter... it sucks... i told him that too...
@mwrockie Uh, crime is at it's lowest it's been since the fifties. There were more weirdos when you were a kid than there are now. Everyone just believes all the stupid bullshit Fox News tells them, so everyone is terrified of nothing.
My close friend scoots plays this for me at college in the music room. He taught himself, just by listening. It legit sounds just like this. and he's only 18.
@no1mkstudios what are you guys talking about? O.o I wasn't even making a joke....I was just explaining, that is how Beethoven would have heard his masterpieces :/
@nosferathu258 No, no, no, nosferathu, you must live! Believe me: there were mediocrities in Beethoven's day making their own version of "Sexy Bitch." They've all been forgotten, swallowed up by time. Now you're listening to "Moonlight Sonata" because it has survived time. So live while you can, and just ignore all the crap.
@nosferathu258 Although I agree that hiphop is annoyingly ignorant sometimes, it does not mean that there are no good musicians today. Times change and so does art. Consider Glenn Morrison's piano solo called "Love Lost". Glenn is a DJ and electronic dance music producer. And he composed that after a breakup with long time girlfriend. Someone like you, who appreciates the classical, should be humble enough to embrace change; Good music today, only comes to people who look for it.
This was in Resident Evil!!! Amazing song. Every note in perfect harmony with the rest. When I hear this song it sends a shock down my spine on how perfect it sounds. So many emotions mixed in.
falling in love with new music all over again and for so many good reasons... GREAT reasons. think i'll put the Slipknot down for awhile and grow to this for a bit. Love to ALL the brothers and sisters all over the world! :}~
They say Beethoven was deaf. It saddens me that he couldn't hear these beautiful notes with his ears, but in his mind, I bet he knew it was something special...
@Comicgirl111 fear not, he went deaf in his early twenties, so he could hear his music, if only in his mind. If you learn about his childhood and his struggles as an adult, this song becomes much more painful. I really feel like he must have felt, brilliant man that way. He is one of the few who could make the listener feel his torment, anguish, joy, and rage, just beautiful.
@n8dawggld50 yeah ikw i did a report on him last year (it was 10 pages long) and i finally understand his songs, the pain, sorrow, joy, etc. he was by far the most brilliant composer ever he is the one that has kept me playing violin for 4 years now. he is my hero.
I remember watching a movie about Beethoven's last years and when he dies they play this song. And now every time I hear it, it flashes back to that moment when they carry his casket, heartbreaking.
This is such a beautiful piece, it is so masterfully composed. It deserves very single view it gets. In Beethoven's day, this piece was so popular and so commonly played, that Beethoven himself remarked, "Surely I've written better things." And surely, he has. But this piece somehow connects with the soul on a deeply intimate level. We have all experienced a time in our lives that would fit the tone of this piece very well, and we can all connect.
