  • Thumbs up if you're listening to this... in whatever year, since it's timeless.

  • @AuroralAscendancy i support this song imortal love from everyone.

  • It penetrates me. ......so amazing.......

  • You guys would be surprised on how many younger ppl enjoy and listen to this stuff. Ive been enjoying such pieces for years now and im 23 but i will agree so few of us are out there =C

  • @orochitaco ha young im 13 and a guy and think this peice of beuty is lovingly inspiering

  • @orochitaco I couldn't agree more. it's sad that classical music is more prevalent in modern culture, especially with the youth of today. I'm 18 and I love classical music; especially Beethoven.

  • Such a beautiful piece, there is so much in this music that simply cannot be explained in words, its perfect, it's sad that most of the younger generation mock classical music, I guess it's too deep for some people to handle.

  • imo this represents you sitting alone in your room thinking about how lonely your fat ass is.

  • the best moment 0:00-06:08

  • @kamil5284 haha

  • 127 people started the game with Chris.

  • 2,000,010 yay

  • Beethoven vas not a king..he was the Emperor ! He will never be surpassed !

  • ludwig van beethoven the unreplacable

  • Think for a second. Humans do not care for the fate of the future, why should they? They do not benefit from it. That's the first problem with humans, but it doesn't mater. In the end, nothing you ever do will even conceivably matter. You can only enjoy the little time you have. We will not get off of this planet. We are bound to earth... this is something that, I feel, to be a truth for humans... it's all a sad painted picture. A picture painted beautifully, with no purpose in mind.

  • This song... some feel it represents the hopelessness and sadness of life, while also representing the happiness of it... I don't see it that way though... I see no happiness in life as a whole. We are a doomed species. We do not care for the future generations, because we have no reason to. Our fate is to live on this planet, and die on this planet. There truly is no point to living, perhaps this has been said many times, but it is true. Religion is just a desperate attempt to find a point..

  • I hear the MC Hammer funk house rap version is quite good too!

  • this isn't too fast? it seems a little faster than normal

  • It is so peaceful and calming.I listen to it all the time.It makes me sad that there isn't a lot of music like this anymore.

  • To me, this piece symbolizes that- like the moon- life can be dark, it can be scary and low, and sometimes hidden or repetitive. But yet, it can be full of bliss, happiness, high notes... That kind of thing.

Wait a minute, I'm 13 and I sound like my music teacher... Oh crap.

  • @1234567890waffle

I'm glad there are some 13 year olds who have interest in good music rather than Justin Bieber

  • wtf is this? where is the bass

  • Guy below me stfu

  • The music that will be played when the world ends

  • I love this song. It brings back so many memories when I had my dog beethoven. He's gone now. It makes me cry everytime.....

  • I really like to hear this piece of music when I am doing some of my homework!! =P

  • толкова е приятно

  • If ever Aliens landed on earth and asked for one song that represents humanity, it MUST be Moonlight Sonata. All the three movements, in the descending order.

Movement 3: Agony of Adolescence, where everything is in the extreme.

Movement 2: Stability of the Adult life.

Movement 1: Slow, elegant yet sad, representing the Old age.

  • Elegant, yet full of melancholy.

  • This was also played in game call ~ Earthworm Jim 2 - Villi People ~

If you know what I mean... this is beautiful by the way. :)

  • @AlchemistFurryBomber

that game first exposed me to the third movement of this song, in the last level, that i had never known existed. it was years and years later that i looked it up to see what it was.

i now consider it to be the greatest piece of music in existence.

  • What I find best is ignoring some of the comments and just listening to this great music. Play on!!....That's what it's all about really! ...

  • Best music to listen to while doing my theatre homework. Thank goodness for it. I honestly can't concentrate with any other music playing.

  • Im 16 years old boy from Poland, i cried on this sonata...

  • Best classical track ever. No equals.

  • This music is so calming and helps me relax !

  • Truely one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard and I'm only 14.

  • Das berührt die Seele.

  • lovely

  • o.o

  • "Nobody will ever understand the torment I feel. The torment of an extremly attractive ninja who is lusted by pretty much every girl he's ever met. Mine is indeed a tormented existance, filled with torment, and girls. Girls with their breasts. They torment me so."

    -Sasuke Uchiha

  • these call of duty ads are driving me nuts. i'm going to shove a butter cup up that guys ass.

  • Advertisement on a Beethoven piece? show some goddam respect youtube...

  • @sulumsphony66 why would the give him special privileges?

  • @shan304 well he wrote this around 200 years before youtube was invented so i think that he gets the right to have his work shared without gum commercials

  • Nobody will ever understands the torment that I feel....god I hate myself

  • @shan304Do not use that as an insult. Not only is it offensive to perfectly lovely homosexual people it also makes you look like an ignorant twat.

  • @watsinyrwallet actually "gay" means carefree/happy. you may want to look into things a bit more.

  • @shan304 Not in the context of contemporay language. Context is subjective of course. Don't be an ignorant twat.

  • My mum used to play this on our piano when she was feeling stuck, now its so soothing to me and i could use it every night to send me off to sleep. It's so calming.

  • This was my favorite song growing just because of that level in Earthworm Jim. It's beautiful.

  • Just beautiful. Hard to find words to describe truly beautiful and timeless music.

  • I heard this on a Goosebumps episode and I looked for it and I finally found it!

  • BULLLSHIIIITTTTTTTTT@!!!!!! Just kidding. Ofcorse this is epic.

  • actually from what I know he wrote this song for a blind girl who wanted to know what the moon looked like, and because Beethoven was partially deaf, he couldn't hear very well.So he wrote this song for the blind little girl, so she could know what the moon looked like, and when he asked her how it sounded she said. "Exactly like the moon would look like" then thanked him

  • This was made so long ago and now there is nothing but hatered, and killing and horrible things, What have we done with tthis beautiful world we had?

  • @DMerced2012 haha you think in his time there wasnt as much hatred and killing as today? search and youll find great musicians of our time.

  • This music is beautiful, true music like this connects to the heart. I'm learning Moonlight Sonata, and I reckon it's a hard peice of music. But I can't wait to be able to finally do it and feel like I've accomplished something GREAT! Sorry for my awful spelling :)

  • did u know ride of the valkeryries was made famous by the movie apocolypse now?

  • I KNOW in my heart I was the girl he wrote this song too. In my past life I can still feel it now. Every time I hear this song I see they whole picture play in my head. I loved him, but not enough so I left him for another man. That's why he made this song. Sad and SO true. It moves me like nothing I've ever felt in my life! Sorry, just is what it is.

  • @pfl0307

    LMFAO.

  • dont get me wrong i love my xbox and big tv and all the fancy crap that comes with it but when i hear this song i wonder would the world be a better place without it all, im only 35 and i can c how the world has changed since i was a kid, i look at my kids now and they cant have the freedom i had(when i was there age) cos theres 2 many weridos out now, the world has become a rat race

  • @mwrockie true... im 12 and now we kinda envy our parents when they said they could ask anyone to play with them... and your friend who is a boy doesn't notice you cuz he too busy playing whatever it is hes playing to notice me or anything for that matter... it sucks... i told him that too...

  • @mwrockie Uh, crime is at it's lowest it's been since the fifties. There were more weirdos when you were a kid than there are now. Everyone just believes all the stupid bullshit Fox News tells them, so everyone is terrified of nothing.

  • @mwrockie full of homosexuals, right? Tearin' the moral fiber of the nation.

  • I am 17 years old and I am listening to Beethiven since I was 12.. I love classic and opera music..

  • @VoicelessFears Wow, incredible. You deserve a trophy.

  • My close friend scoots plays this for me at college in the music room. He taught himself, just by listening. It legit sounds just like this. and he's only 18.

  • Magnificent

  • @no1mkstudios what are you guys talking about? O.o I wasn't even making a joke....I was just explaining, that is how Beethoven would have heard his masterpieces :/

  • He made this song because he was in love with a student of his, today they make "Sexy Bitch" because they find someone "hot"

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

  • @nosferathu258 No, you still want to live on this planet...but you want him to leave...

  • @nosferathu258 He was?

That makes this song a trillion times more beautiful. :|

  • Comment removed

  • @nosferathu258 No, no, no, nosferathu, you must live! Believe me: there were mediocrities in Beethoven's day making their own version of "Sexy Bitch." They've all been forgotten, swallowed up by time. Now you're listening to "Moonlight Sonata" because it has survived time. So live while you can, and just ignore all the crap.

  • @goback3spaces amen and thanks for the positive thought !

  • @nosferathu258 cry moar

  • @nosferathu258 Breaks my heart everyday, but not all women are like that :)

  • what an amazing music ... it makes me cry .......

  • pretty excellent song to fall asleep to. its definetly an amazing one

  • i love this song

  • This has to be the saddest song in the world, next to Goodbye Chao. (From Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, for those who aren't familiar with the game)

  • @pianomaniac510 Nay, the saddest song I would say is Adagio for Strings, by Samuel Barber.

  • They say Beethoven was deaf. It saddens me that he couldn't hear these beautiful notes with his ears, but in his mind, I bet he knew it was something special...

  • @Comicgirl111 fear not, he went deaf in his early twenties, so he could hear his music, if only in his mind. If you learn about his childhood and his struggles as an adult, this song becomes much more painful. I really feel like he must have felt, brilliant man that way. He is one of the few who could make the listener feel his torment, anguish, joy, and rage, just beautiful.

  • @n8dawggld50 yeah ikw i did a report on him last year (it was 10 pages long) and i finally understand his songs, the pain, sorrow, joy, etc. he was by far the most brilliant composer ever he is the one that has kept me playing violin for 4 years now. he is my hero.

  • Could you post the other movements?

  • I remember watching a movie about Beethoven's last years and when he dies they play this song. And now every time I hear it, it flashes back to that moment when they carry his casket, heartbreaking.

  • this never ceases to bring me to my knees, such a powerfull and emotional piece. I get chills everytime. So very painfully beautifull

  • not to take wrong, guys but... ROCK ON BETHOVEN, FROM YOUR MOTHERFUCKING GRAVE! YOU'RE FUCKING AWESOME

  • Done else = someone else. Damn auto correct!!

  • I literally just thought about Resident Evil too and have always thought that. So funny to see done else comment on that! Awesome!

  • reminds me of Resident Evil ... good times.

  • this is the only classical song i like lol

  • This is such a beautiful piece, it is so masterfully composed. It deserves very single view it gets. In Beethoven's day, this piece was so popular and so commonly played, that Beethoven himself remarked, "Surely I've written better things." And surely, he has. But this piece somehow connects with the soul on a deeply intimate level. We have all experienced a time in our lives that would fit the tone of this piece very well, and we can all connect.

  • Moonlight Music.

    Marvellous.

  • this piece is fuckin incredible. one day i will be able to play this piece!
