this is a lovely melodi it makes you feel relaxed and calm yet wondering what goes on around you... if there is a thing called peace happieness and things other then hate and distructin. it makes you want to fell every thing good and find it... to get away from every thing and never come back... i wish i could as well
I remember recieving a music box as my only Christmas present when I was four. It is my very first conscious memory, and I also remember placing it in the toy chest, because I wanted to let someone find it and hear the same music I base my entire musical structural taste on today. Unfortunately, it was likely destroyed when the house was demolished.
when i listen to this i think of dead childrens spirits all coming together in an old abandoned orphanage to play this music box and calm their broken souls.
i had a music box once when i was three it vanished one day my mom said it was throned out i looked and looked for it but couldn't find it ...... my birthday came and i was looking for my manga ....... i heard a song coming from outside my window i was asking myself how it got out there it was dusty but it still played i still have it up to today......still wondering how it got outside my window
My mom's friend gave me a music box when I was 3 years old. Then, when I was seven, he vanished. Nobody knows where he went. On the same day he vanished, the music box broke. He's still missing today and I still have the music box and now, I'm searching for the lost soul who gave it to me.
I had a music box, it was given to me but my best friend, he moved away shortly after, never saw him again. I loved that music box, whenever I was upset I would play it, it would calm me down and i'd usually go to sleep. I got a phone call one day that he and his family had been murdered so my family and i got on a plane and flew there, we attended the funeral and when i came back the music with is usually on my bedside table was gone. There's no memory of him left.
My only music box was given to me by my great grandmother 2 years before she passed away. It was the only melody that could calm me down when i was upset or put me to sleep at all. The day she passed away, i played it once and put it in my drawer. It's been 3 years since she passed away and i've only heard it 3 times since then. I only play it on the date of her death.
Ihad this lovely music box when i was small it waz something my mum gave me and i love it to bits because i no i will always have it if i am sad or lonely

This song... so hauntingly sad and so beautiful at the same time. It makes me feel like I've lost something. Something immaterial, but important. Something that cannot ever be regained. Love? Trust?
Or... is it a dance? Slow, gentle, simple, mysterious... a faerie dance?
I feel now as if I have found something that is heard only by those lucky enough to stumble upon it by chance.
In doing so, I have lost something, in a sense. But my eyes have been opened to something so much bigger than I...
@Wystearya This world sometimes can be such a burden some times, the world cares nothing for inner wealth,it's always about money, materials that will one day decay, and things that will turn even the humblest of men vain.....I am unbelievably thankful that my life is far more valuable than anything this world can offer. That I can assure any inquiring curiosity on my behalf.

@MsMorphic You, my dear, succeed only in making no sense because your spelling and grammar are atrocious. Regardless of that, you're basically saying that it's okay to commit suicide. I happen to be Catholic, and suicide is never okay. NEVER, no matter the reason. I am not going to continue arguing with you about whether it's okay to kill yourself because society rejects you and tries to push you into a mold.
On the ever-present subject of suicide, from the experience I have had, including a few years of contemplating suicide, people kill themselves either from too much pain or from a lack of purpose. To those in pain, I advise you to seek support from good friends, or, if you need to escape, hitchhike a few hundred miles away and start a fresh life. To those who see no reason to live, I invite you to look closer at religion, and to adopt the philosophy that life is less boring than death.
@MsMorphic I say suck it up and take it like a man (for lack of a better phrase). Suicide = mortal sin. Suffering is good for the soul. I'm supposed to admire people who cut or kill themselves because nobody likes them? o_O I wasn't saying that you can't have your own opinions or that you should give up your morals. I'm just saying that you shouldn't kill yourself because society is bad. It takes more strength to stick with that in which you believe than it does to kill yourself.
I once had a music box to....but mine you had to wind up......I still remember some of the sweet melody.......but one day I came home from school.....to find the key missing......I am now 22 I got the music box when I was 5.......I never did find the key....but I sing myself the melody....and everyday I look for the key...I still have the old music box.....
I see a lonely british detective waking up to a pale morning of about 6 o'clock. It is cold outside, and the trees stand like skeletons, shivering in the wind. a flock of crows are perched in a tree outside his window being loud and hawking at each other. the air in his room is tinted dark blue and the floors are drenched in dust. He is a lonely man who has no desire to wed. He looks in the mirror and suddenly gets the urge to cry. For what reason, he doesn't even know, He simply feels that it i

@Thespiriticlan Oh my god!!! The same thing happened to me too!!! I don't remember what the song was or how it whent. All that I do remember about it is that it played a really pretty song. I've been looking for a music box that plays the same song the one I had did for years now, but so far I haven't found one. Sometimes I wonder if I ever will.
@WTHProductionsInc is that so? Well I hope you find it! Never give up because sometimes people give up right as they pass the chance...I know (because I've given up before, on many things) lets hope that beautiful melody finds it's way into your heart again someday

@groovezone247 Yes - this is part of the soundtrack to Meryl Streep's reading of 'The Velveteen Rabbit', under the track title 'The Toys'. All the music is by George Winston, and I believe you can find the entire thing on CD or iTunes. It's well worth your time.
My grandmother gave a me a music box that played this, unfortunately it was stolen several years ago, I didn't know the name of the song it played but I would hum it as much as possible so I wouldn't forget it, then one day I was eating at a sushi bar when this came on, I harassed the poor waitress so much she finally ...just brought me the cd so I could write it down.....miss that music box, want to replace it someday.
holy crap O.O i just had an diffrence with someone about a song (not this song) and we got in an argument but when i listened this song after that i totally forgot about it O.O
@thenerevarine13 I totaly agree, todays music sucks ass, i bet you if they put this kind of music on the raido ppl wouldn't be such stuck up little pricks all the damn time...
@ItsumaMomochi Yes. For condemning suicidal people and emos by calling them mentally unstable, society seems to be awfully fond of creating such "disorders" by playing music that causes me to sympathize with homicidal maniacs. I can't stand the radio anymore; all the stations I get where I live play nothing but crud. :( It makes me sad.
@luigiruleztheworld It was me making fun of the musicboxes you find now where they have "jumpy little icecream truck-style songs instead of good stuff like this".
@thenerevarine13 WBGL 104.7-----------KLOVE 94.3------------------AIR1 88.7 ARE GREAT SAFE FOR THE FAMILY RADIOS. I STRONGLY WNCOURAGE YOU TO LISTEN (: God bless.
@KezukaSouyuu Holy cow that's what happened to me but with a different music box! I mean that's the same exact story, except I can't find the song on youtube D:
this song, its like it wants you to cry to let all your worries flow away over the snow covered fields and into the snowy darkness of no end, to the land of love. This song is how love flows through all of our hearts and comes out as a beautiful bird spreading its wings and flying away to start a new life. Thx George winston we love this melody i dont know how some one could ever hate something so pleasant.
This song makes me want to cry, it makes me feel pure sadness but at the same time it carries me away to a land of joy. Every time i hear this melody i remember me in my mothers arms wiping away a worries, im still crying as of now. ;(
the difference between a wise old man and a simple court jester.. i have to say its the subtly of truth.. reminiscent of such a tune like this... achingly.. painful of the truth.
Thank you for posting this song. I had a music box that would play this song when I was little and it was broken during a move. It was nice to hear the song again. It brought back good memories.
I'm leaving this message on many George Winston songs in the hopes that someone owns/will upload "Rain" from his Winter to Spring (?) '82 album. If anyone has this file or CD, please do all us Winston fans a favor and post it! Thank You! :D
I remember talking to my piano teacher, and we said that Winston is a musical poet... Very true, demonstrated here as well as in all of his works (not songs [tunes] they are much more than that.)
beautiful song and music....loved it......okay......@harpy2010 what you just said was rly fucked up......im sorry but you type some thing funny.... its this.....sick fuck lol....but it is mess up what u said.
my house is japanese style - it looks identical to the house in The Grudge. it's a pretty creepy house, and as much as I love this song, it scares the hell out of me when I'm in my house
@Evallandercomingsoon Yeah, I agree with you, haha, it looks like you are entering a haunted mansion, and then you see the ghosts who used to live there and they seem real, it's like a love story...a creepy love story.
Unlike some people... I stop to smell the flowers once in a while... but there was a bee.

alarae93 1 year ago
Is there a movie to it?
groovezone247 1 year ago

TheMsCoasterluver1 1 year ago
Why is it that all the music boxes they're making now have those jumpy little icecream truck-style songs instead of good stuff like this?
thenerevarine13 1 year ago
@thenerevarine13 I totaly agree, todays music sucks ass, i bet you if they put this kind of music on the raido ppl wouldn't be such stuck up little pricks all the damn time...
Purplepikachu36 1 year ago 5
@thenerevarine13 i know its annoying rly. bring back the classics
ItsumaMomochi 1 year ago
@ItsumaMomochi Yes. For condemning suicidal people and emos by calling them mentally unstable, society seems to be awfully fond of creating such "disorders" by playing music that causes me to sympathize with homicidal maniacs. I can't stand the radio anymore; all the stations I get where I live play nothing but crud. :( It makes me sad.
thenerevarine13 1 year ago 71
@thenerevarine13 What exactly was the original comment that made you respond in such a way? :o
luigiruleztheworld 5 months ago
@luigiruleztheworld It was me making fun of the musicboxes you find now where they have "jumpy little icecream truck-style songs instead of good stuff like this".

@TheFantastic73 Thank you very much. :) KLove my dad introduced me to, but by crud, I also meant style of music.

It's vaguely reminiscent of Sakura. Anyone know where I could find (on Youtube) a musicbox-style version of Sakura?
thenerevarine13 1 year ago
I had this music box as a child, I got it when we lived in Japan...I remember falling asleep to this song so many nights.

Purplepikachu36 1 year ago
This song makes me want to cry, it makes me feel pure sadness but at the same time it carries me away to a land of joy. Every time i hear this melody i remember me in my mothers arms wiping away a worries, im still crying as of now. ;(
Purplepikachu36 1 year ago
I seriously want this melody in a musicbox...
does anyone know, where you can buy it, or where to buy only the mechanichal machine? It would help a lot!

the difference between a wise old man and a simple court jester.. i have to say its the subtly of truth.. reminiscent of such a tune like this... achingly.. painful of the truth.

Thank You! :D

This song is really eerie... in a beautiful way
I remember talking to my piano teacher, and we said that Winston is a musical poet... Very true, demonstrated here as well as in all of his works (not songs [tunes] they are much more than that.)
creepyvannila 1 year ago
This song is widely known in Japan titled "Lullaby of Itsuki".
I like it but feel sad for it's about a babysitting girl who herself is very young and missing her home eagerly.

@t0naka1 I see your comment and raise you a "Huh?". Where did you hear that?
Lovely little piece though, on that we can agree.

my house is japanese style - it looks identical to the house in The Grudge. it's a pretty creepy house, and as much as I love this song, it scares the hell out of me when I'm in my house
