The sight of the black faced langur,for some reason or another paralyse them with fear....it is so in the wilds.
It makes common sense to keep a langur near at hand rather than a German Shepherd guard dog or a policeman or soldier to chase the monkeys as they clamber into the trees or roof tops.

I live in Canada and here deer and rarely bears come into contact with humans..and police here chase them away when they do.
Of course legal hunting exists here...when deer are hunted and the numbers brought down.

The monkeys are trained not as guards against human violators, but are actually guards against wild monkeys. Since India is a largely Hindu nation, people have resisted government efforts to capture wild monkeys (due to their devotion to hanuman). Even though wild animals like cows and monkeys are being removed from the streets, a large number remain. Get it?

There are a lot of monkeys.We can't just relocate all the monkeys to the forests because 1)the forests near to the places they live have a lot of monkeys even nw and large scale relocation will lead to starvation.Infact the lack of food in the forests make the monkeys come to the near by towns and villages.

I am unmoved by your comments as mentioned multiple times the langurs are to scare of the rhesus monkeys. Hiring guards would be more dangerous as they are bound to be attacked by the groups and further putting them in danger of being shot down.A guard would need to protect himself from being bitten. I am here to enjoy the games, if you have a motive then you're on your own.peace

@fixingbraincell Kangaroos are shot down in Australia and their skin used for leather eventhough they are the national symbol of the country. Alligators in the USA are hunted for their leather skin. Hunting is legal in USA where its fine to shoot down deers and mouses. These langurs are used to chase away the smaller monkeys and atleast the indian authorities is not resorting to shooting them down. These langurs chasing smaller monkeys should be the last of your worries!
