I try other classical singers also, but i always run to you again! In so many ways you are super! And i became addicted to this song. It's the way you sang it, Ustad ji!!! I made a copy of this song, so if my lap is off, i can still listen to it.
Mera favroite classical singer ustad rashid khan.... wo wo its real .Raga Jog, it takes Tilang for its base ,The Carnatic Raga Nata (nATa) has some resemblance to Jog's contours. kya baat hai. its really nice.
It was a pleasure I assure you. The Gunidas festival was started by Pandit C R Vyas, who was Jagannathbuwa's pupil. It is currently run by Panditji's sons who are based out of Mumbai. The Kolkata connection is probably due to Vyasji's ITC (employment) connection. But the city is known for its rasikas too. Incidentally, another most noteworthy presentation of Jog-Kauns is by another outstanding pupil of Gunidas, the late playback singer and classical performer Manik Varma
@dams0001 It was originally conceived by Pandit Jagannathbuwa Purohit and sung publicly in 1952 by Pandit Kumar Gandharva. This composition pira paryee is buwa's own. The besest interpretation of this raga I have ever heard is from buwa's patta-shishya (best pupil), the late Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki.

@TheVitalstatistix : thanks, that was a lot of very interesting info! I've heard a fantastic recording of Veena Sahasrabuddhe (Peer Parayee + Gopika Chali Suranvan), but not much else.
There used to be an annual conference named after "Gunidas" in Kolkata till a few years back. Never knew that it was a nom de plume!

Beautiful...jogkosh/jog kauns is not such a common raga, but rendered ever so melodiously!
