  • I didn't think anyone still had the equipment to manufacture 78s anymore. I wonder if they actually cut the record at 33 or 45 RPM and just slowed down the audio going to it, so that it would sound correct when played at 78 RPM. Do you know if it was cut with wide grooves (3 mil) for use with a 78 RPM stylus, or microgrooves (0.7 mil) for use with a normal LP/45 stylus?

  • @vwestlife

Hi. As you say the procedure now to cut 78rpm records is using half speed on the lathe and the audio track.

These records can be played with both stylus! Doesn´t hear much difference.

  • is this 78 a new pressing?

where do i find new pressings of 78's?

  • @colormemichael Hi

Yes this is a 78rpm vinyl new pressing. It´s a collection of 25 records, both sides.

I bought it 20 years ago. This is an hibrid, 50´s music at 78rpm!

I am not sure where to buy it now but there are some webs selling 45rpm jukebox sets.

These was made by: Rhino records inc. 1201 Oympic Blvd. Santa Monica. CA 90404. Made in USA

  • A beautiful song in great quality. Your record player is also great! Love it!

  • Assuming this is an original pressing, it looks like a reissue, they make them for retro jukeboxes for 78 disks, I seen them advetised, this turnable is harsh and abrasive on records, I would not play any disks on it. Thx.

  • @teendude16

    Thank you, I know.

I only use this record changers to make this videos.

  • @yopascualin I forgot to say, it does sound good though, and its nice to see it work, but I have damaged records before, cause I did not know some turntables can damage records, now I know, just wanted to help you protect your record collection. Thanks for your reply. Cheers.

  • that old ass 78 sounds awsome man

  • Yea it does sound good. That's because this 78 was most likely pressed in the late 1950's when sound quality technology was improved for all record pressings as opposed to 78's that were pressed in the 20's 30's or 40's. When stereo came along in the late 50's I guess it ended the market for 78's. American Capitalism is awesome! The private sector has brought us all of these great innovations.

  • there's a song but don't know who sings it or the title but some of the lyric is "it's goin to be a long long winter for me" it's slow and i think by a group. can you help a sistah out

  • That's the Super-Fly Curtis Mayfield with the Impressions. "Long, Long Winter"

  • Fantastic, what amplifier do you use?

  • Hi! It´s a Technics SU-V500 amplifier. The turntable is older!

  • Jorge, este Philco es casi espacial !.

It's getting harder to leave You Tube now every time I find those great tunes and videos of record changers.

Some of these vintage changers look a bit sinister to me but this Philco has a lot of style !

  • Muchas gracias por tus comentarios!

  • The 78 rpm record shown was made for a 78 box set compilation. Betty Everett never released this song on the 78 format as her then label, Vee Jay Records in Chicago, had stopped pressing these by 1959-60. I was happy to have the opportunity to interview Betty several times by phone for liner notes to the CD issue of the album There'll Come A Time, the title tune was one of her last big hits. Miss you Betty, rest in peace.

  • Thanks a lot for your comments Koji!

  • wow a 78~! GREAT! I am old enough to remember having a record player, hahahaha!

    Great song, too, thanks~!

    diane

  • Love changers as well, especially early Garrard decks! Great videos!

  • Thanks much! I hope to get a better camera soon. I´d like share more records and players.

  • nice turntable! can it play 33s and 45s and also is it hooked straight to the soundcard?

  • Hey, thank you! Only this turntable and Webcor 126 have this kind of pusher changer and size selector, no intermix. They can play 33/3 45 and 78 rpm records. Originally it has a mono Ronette cartridge but it works now with a stereo Ronette I mounted. It´s hooked to an amplifier so the sound is picked with a microphone direct to the pc and the video with the webcam! I´ll change the camera soon.

    Jorge.

  • nice mod!

  • Great track and autochanger!

  • Es un tocadiscos precioso.

  • cool song and record player!

  • Yes. It´s a special vinyl 78 edition for jukebox. There are 25 both faces.

    I´ll put some more.

    Thank you.

  • wow , i love it ;)

  • Thank you, darling. See you, rey.
