  • Very nice scenery, but you could greatly improve the video: keep the cam steady, no zoom, use a tripod.

  • KEEP THE CAMRA STILL

  • whats the minimum track radius you used?

  • @3riversrambler 15 inch radius.

  • Very nice idea with the loops and tunnels. Nice job on the scenery, thanks for the ideas and tips.

  • nice ya shud get some animals on the moutains and some cars etc nice vid

  • Howdy Big E. Indeed, quite impressive to say the least. A question I'm sure you've been asked before? What do you do if a train derails in one of those tunnels? How do you retrieve them? Maybe I have missed something along the way, as I'm trying to follow your videos in sequence however; being fairly new to YouTube... perhaps I've missed a couple? You have showed me several ideas and I can't thank you enough for sharing these wonderful videos with us. Thanks a bunch, Walker.

  • @walkerbelle I can get to the trains from underneath. If you want to see the videos in sequence I have playlists on my main channel page.

  • this is IMPRESSIVE!. how long have you been modeling?

  • @carlanton593 Off and on since I was 8 years old.

  • hey E i am so jelous of your layout it is incredible i only have a small 4X5 n scale layout and it cost me a fair bit of money i was just wondering if u could tell me roughly how much you think your layout has cost you to get to the point u are at now?

  • @Amatersaru1 It's been spread out over several years. I guess about 4,000 - 5, 000

  • you should mount a camera on one train :) it would be great

  • @saletrans123 Now that's a toy I'd like to get someday!

  • Cool model railroad.I'm building my 3rd one later this month.

  • Thats great - Is N scale hard to maintain? Also - Im planning (someday!) a HO scale slotcar layout (Actually slotless TCR by ideal - not tyco) & I want to build large scale hills - how did you sculpt the large background hills? did you use foam slabs & shaped with a hotwire or chickenwire covered with plastercloth?

    thanks.

  • I used layers of pink rigid extruded foam. I cut/carved them with whatever I had on hand: drywall saw, hacksaw blade, screwdriver...etc. I had a cheap hotwire cutter but it didn't work that well. I need to invest in something better at some point.

  • Whoops - wrong appologies - it's the moddeler who said it's N scale (which explains some of the long zooms) :) sorry

  • what scale is it

  • N scale.

  • I think It's HO - if it's N scale like somebody said then the bottle that the train passes must be really small - which is possible but "My sources say no!" Id bet on HO scale ;)

  • Extra vid good job 5*****

  • cool vid

  • What do you do if the train stops in the middle of a tunnel, or goes off track or something else happens in the tunnel?

  • I can get to the engines from underneath the tunnels

  • Cool, so that means you have to make a removable section wherever you want a tunnel?

  • good work

  • Really cool, a great job! It is getting me inspired to get back to work on my layout. Took the summer off.

  • wil you be running longer trains on the layout when its done?

  • Not too much longer since it's a mountain layout.

    E

  • ah that makes sense

  • wow some of that is so detailed! how long has that took? 5*****

  • Superb scenery.

  • I like your videos and your work ! .Greatings from Germany .

  • Amazing layout, absolutely fantastic, how did you make your tunnel entrances?

  • Nice layout. How long did it take you to make the scenic bit

  • The work was spread out over about 4 months

  • is it Hornby?

  • Kato

  • what happens if you had to move is it collapse able or do you just plan on living where you are for a long time

  • Absolutely fantastic! Your how-to videos have helped me so much and it's just incredible how high the level of your craftsmanship is! Keep up the outstanding work!

  • how much room does this layout take up

  • It goes around the walls of the family room with two lift out bridges. Its roughly L shaped 12 X 24 X 18 ft.

    E

  • Awesome layout!

  • Extremely nice

  • impressive layout 10/10

  • Yo very nice layout. I am so surprised that I have never found your videos before. I guess that I was too busy making videos of my own, but a Youtube member told me about thebig61 guy making videos like I do so I wanted to see for myself. very cool dawg!! Nice to know there is another guy out there showing people his techniques of making the train layout. Good job dawg!!

  • Woof Woof!

    Thanks!

    E

  • What did you make the landscape out of? Is it some sort of clay or paper mache? or however you say it... my bad.

  • It really looks like you carved the layout out of solid rock, amazing!

  • hey i like your layout i have a lot of room to work with but it has been almost 15 years since i have done any model railroading i am new to dcc and feel it really works the way i am looking 4 i have enjoyed learning tips and trick from your different video series please keep them comeing i like watching them...

  • Cool layout. I wish I had this much space. Something I think that would look really cool is double head thoughs loco's and put on a coal train.

  • Just wondering if you have a website as well, or if any of your clips shows your complete layout design? Pretty impressive stuff - keep uptheawesome work and keep the videos coming!

  • Awesome! So....What happens if you get a wreck in one of those tunnels? You got a way to get in there...?

  • I can get to the trains from behind and underneath. Tunnels are going to be the subject of my next series.

  • Sweet! O:

  • very nice

  • Neat layout! no trees?

  • Not finished. I'll get around to it...
