I think if I remember correctly the coins were also used to help speed up your kart. The more coins you got the faster you went which ,as I've seen already, isn't that easy in the 150cc class
@jenningsslayer314 Dave: I have the same issue with 50cc, and the coins were lost one at a time whenever you make contact with other racers. If you run out of coins any contact with another cart and you spinout.
Dave: Cool, yeah, Koopa and Toad were always my faves, I just felt like they handled better. I do wish they were just a bit faster out of the gate though, lol.
Dave: Oh hell yeah, those two were horrid! Not only were they both painfully slow, but they turned so roughly that I would always smack the walls... well worse than with Koopa and Toad XD

ahh i loved this game when it came out, think i was bout 3 or 4 years old,
great video dave,hahaha luigi always has a star that was funny, i loved the way they designed this game, 2 screen, the snes games were great

There were two things that I never got in this game.
1: On 50cc, it was just too easy to Lap other racers.
2: What in the heck were the coins for?
