Nice job again Gary. The Ookpik Waltz was written by Frankie Rogers a Canadian fiddle legend in 1965.
I first met him, when I hired him to play on an album I was producing back in 1986 I later took a class with him when he was in his 80's at a swing camp in Sorrent B.C. He died in this Sept.8th. (2009) Frankie was an amazing player and could imitate all the sounds of a pedal steel (which his brother played). He did a lot of triple stops and harmonized whole tunes with himself.
Wow! I knew it was Canadian, but I didn't know who wrote it. I bet he was amazing! Thanks for the comment Paul. I definitely plan on looking at some more of your tunes. I downloaded a stack of them, and I'll start with the ones you mentioned.
@Pgitlitz Hi, it's not "ootpik" trust me - I think I'd know the spelling of my own name... It's actual correct translation is "Ukpik" from Inuktitut syllabics
I have a cd of some of my favorites. If you are interested just send me a message with your email! I don't charge anything but the shipping on them. I totally just play for the fun of it!
Beautiful job on this song! Now that I've heard you play this one, I have to listen to the rest that you have posted. thank you for sharing your talent with us.
That's a very nice waltz! I hadn't heard it before. You should post more of them to showcase all facets of your wonderful talent. You do a GREAT job on everything - reels, jigs, hoe-downs, Texas-swing, waltzes, etc.!
Wow thats a beautiful song I really like the sound of the fiddle

So, how long do we have to wait for the CD? I would love to have a CD of the songs you have uploaded here. Any possibility of that happening?
