her nephew went to my military school... the day of commissioning (May 2009) he was kicked out of ROTC for cheating during a final exam so naturally he did not commission... but mysteriously a month later he was an 2 Lt..... coincidence?
women becoming university presidents and chancellors, heads of states, corporate moguls, industry captains, CEOS, Generals- these are the women that girls should aspire to be...why? because of their intelligence, integrity, commitment and competence....
wow I thought theirs was none I guessed wrong that also my dream to become a women general maybe not a 4 star I’m going to school to become a officer and all we need NOW is a women president !!!!
@janihuynh that will be the day every woman in the military is held to the same standard as the men... which they're not. so sorry to knock you off your feminist horse, but woman are going to be equal until they earn equality by doing everything the men do, not the "woman equivilent".... for example... men run 3 miles... women run 2, men hump 100+ lbs, women hump 30-50.... so no equality until earned
General Dunwoody is an amazing soldier, an amazing commander, and an amazing person. The fact that she's a woman is just a cool sidenote. No, women can have "combat" jobs, but they can still participate in it in many other ways. Besides, combat isn't the only way to become a great leader.
She has DEFINITELY been in combat, or at least a combat theatre. She is wearing Gulf War 1991 ribbons, including the Liberation of Kuwaitt. She IS a combat theatre soldier!
Before you go and say she has never seen combat, take a few moments and do some research. She deployed with the 82nd Airborn for the Gulf War. Just because you are not 11B doesn't mean you don't get shot at. If you're jealous that a woman is that high in the chain of comand then you seriously have some issues and I don't want you in my Army
many of our commanding officers in today's military have never actually seen combat. by you saying she doesn't deserve this position is saying that all the things that she has done for this beautiful country is nothing and stupid. don't say she didn't deserves this rank because by all means she has. and to you dunwoody i congratulate you on a job well done and thank you for server our country
well...first off...shes an officer. second...she has gone to war...look it up there killer. third...i think you mean she has never GONE into combat OR had to shoot a rifle.
So, I see that some of you are still living in the stone-ages. There is nothing wrong with a women general. I've been a Marines for 8+ years, and I've seen many women who could do better than men.
Women, just like men, have brains, and they can use those brains to command.
Women, unlike some men, don't have muscles, but do they really need muscles to use a rifle?
Like my mother says when I tell them how hard it's to live alone and then think of how woman can do all this... everyday.. She said - So you know womans suffering..
Is this general a kurd-hater.. Then what she thinks about the woman soldiers in HPG, a kurdish party very close to P.K.K.. I hear that she killed two kurdish men today, because HPG shot down three turkish men from the turkish armys Jandarma (Gestapo). Aren't you a bit ahead of everyone..
Shut up, thecrookedserpent, you dirtbag! Dunwoody was my CG at Bragg. She's a helluva leader, a Master Blaster paratrooper, and could outrun you any day.

Are they sure she's a women?! She looks like a fucking guy to me! And logistics just about suits a woman, where they belong, nowhere near the front line.
I want to congratulate Ann E. Dunwoody for her time, energy and commitment to our country.
I'm a peace activist and pray everyday for peace but it does not stop me from greatly appreciating the immense sacred sacrifice our service men and women have offered up over the years in the hope of securing peace and freedom.
Congratulations again Ann Dunwoody! Thank you and all the amazing service men and woman who've put their lives on the line for us.
Yeah, i know that, i mean what position in the army she will be perform as a 4 star general. What is her new area of responsibility ? What is her new job title ?
ZoomBFX. Perhaps rather than asking if i can read, you should try reading my comments a little more carefully your self. The whole point of the story was her promotion in RANK, i was asking what her new POSITION would be. Settii has answered that question - Commanding General, U.S. Army Materiel Command.
amazing!
