  • That was on my birthday!

  • Taps, in this case, signifies the end of the day ... nothing wrong with the cheers.

  • The Air Force is infected with the PC bug ... and getting worse every day. While I usually don't rejoice over the death of any human being ... in this guy's case, I'll make an exception.

  • Why are you all cheering at the end of Taps? Do you know what that is supposed to remind you of? Also, if you're a firstie you were probably what, 12 or younger on 9/11? Everyone is happy that Bin Laden is dead, but you should have edited out your celebration at the end of Taps. I can see where your AOC is coming from.

  • Your AOC is clearly an @ss. Remember, AOCs are people that couldn't get better jobs in the real AF.

  • awesome

  • God Bless "SEAL Team VI" Job WELL done y'all!

  • “May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't.”

    -General George S. Patton

    ^^ It's in Contrails

  • As a spouse of a retired AF member and a current GS employee who works on PAFB there is not a damn thing wrong with this video. You Airmen did not act unbecoming of an officer nor of an American citizen. You have every right to be jubilant. You were respectful during the appropriate times and never showed any disrespect. Go Air Force!

  • @wolskimom Amen, I agree 100%! God Bless you ALL!

  • So our AOC just gave our whole squadron a lecture about how videos that were placed on youtube last night of this event were really awful and inappropriate...I don't see one single thing in this video that could be construed as poor behavior, unprofessional, etc. Thoughts?

  • @nevrsurrendr NOTHING WRONG! This is a great day in American history!!

  • @nevrsurrendr You know, I honestly do not know. I edited the video very carefully, watching for anything that could be construed as inappropriate. USNA and USMA both have multiple videos of similar events at their schools, so I see nothing wrong with it.

  • @thecoolcole Yeah, but the midshipmen who posted it were also ordered to take them down because the comments made were not for the general public.

I'm not a cadet or a midshipman myself, but my brother recently graduated from USNA (and my father is a grad from '79), and I didn't see any problem with the videos either. I think the military is worried about idiots who think celebrating bin Laden's death is a bad thing.

  • @thecoolcole I'm at USMA, and they're making us take ours down

  • @thecoolcole 2001 grad here, so I'll try to explain. Um, the entire celebration is what is inappropriate (and unprofessional). Yes, it was. I'm personally happy the guy is dead, but I sure as hell would not go running around, whooping and hollering and singing and essentially throwing a spontaneous party. I also would not video tape said party. Or post it on youtube. Ever heard the term "quiet professional"? The cadets were neither. Let the idiots from GW Univ do the dancing.

  • @comicus01 Nobody is celebrating the death of Osama. The entire premise for the war in Afghanistan was to bring bin Laden and al Qaeda to justice. I feel that celebrating a major accomplishment in the war on terror, a war which heavily influenced the current generation of cadets, is neither unprofessional nor inappropriate. With that being said, I have changed the video to private simply because of the controversy over it.

    Thanks for your input.

  • @thecoolcole Really? It sure looks like it. What other accomplishment/event occurred? Besides, I am of the opinion one doesn't "celebrate" war. And certainly not in that way. Have a toast to your fallen comrades, yes. A party on the T-Zo? No. Nor does it matter if you think your friends acted professionally, this is an example of of the importance of how others perceive you, rightly or wrongly. What impression do you think someone in Pakistan/Yemen/Iran/etc would get?

  • What an excellent way to end the Academic year at USAFA.! Makes all the hard work you guys doing right now a more bearable

  • AWESOME!!! As a former grad it is nice to see you guys still carrying on the traditions!!! GO BIG BLUE!

  • Everyone at the flag pole was the best part. I love how everyone locked it up. Very classy guys. Ain't no party like a USAFA party.

  • Wow…Thank you so much for sharing this video. My boyfriend is actually a cadet up at the Academy right now, and I remember when we were on Skype and he ran outside to go to this celebration. CONGRATULATIONS, GUYS!! :D
