  • Looks a lot like the 2nd gen R6... love that paint scheme and hate it cuz i see it often, but never on an R1. didn't know they made em like that for the big bro. is it stock??

  • You should have dropped it 2 cogs and then opened her right up! ( Ooooer missus! )

  • nice visor

  • Definitely not the full potential of the R1. Should have gone down another gear or two.

  • what gear were you in?

  • how did you find the 2003? i am getting one shortly but it is a big step up from my supermoto. are they easily ridable? id get an R6 but a R1 has been offered to me as a swap.

  • @grnman2511 I found mine in an online classified section through a private seller. Suspension will be stiffer, riding position more prone, & obviously the power difference. As someone once told me, "Always ride under your skill level. Then when something unexpected occurs & calls for a higher skill level, you're ready." It's temptingly easy to get going WAY too fast with the flick of your wrist. As long as you can control your throttle hand, you'll live long enough to get better.

  • @grnman2511 Don't let any1 tempt u into riding over ur skill level. If ur the slowest guy in the group, fine. Go slower. I was once riding with several newer riders, all them in the middle of the group. Higher skill up front, and me in the back to keep an eye on everyone. Twisty road, but going faster & the guy in front of me was trying too hard to keep up with everyone, bike went off the road & his body through a 4x4 sign-post. Totaled his bike & banged him up good. Ride below ur skill level!

  • @willyV13 i just found this video randomly & then read your comment the same way but you're absolutely right mate.

Don't try to keep up, ride your own ride.

  • most of my power comes from the 8-10 thousand rev range... sounds like you were just a little too low on revs. But still nice

  • thats an r6

  • @01234567594 Nope. It's an R1. The factory R6 version with the same paint job is just much more common. I've only seen one other R1 with this paint job straight from the factory.

  • @willyV13 nice bike dude i have the exact same one, paint from factory, i blacked out all the lights even the headlights and it looks so sick!

  • @01234567594 nope it's not...

  • is that an icon helmet?

  • @mrblink1823 Yup. It's the Icon Mechanica. Good helmet, super comfy and good ventilation.

  • @willyV13 have it as well- great helmet! plus ur buddies can find ya easy when trying to ride together haha

  • I was getting used to my, new to me, '02 R1 and was finally ready for full throttle so, at 60 mph I click down into 2nd gear, lay on the tank and roll on full throttle. The bike starts accelerating like nothing I have ever felt, the revs quickly climb and the ferociousness of this motor is starting to impress me. The tach is swinging, the engine signing and I think this is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. Suddenly the revs are passing 8500 rpm and all hell breaks loose...

  • @billj3cub Just reading your comment got me pumped up haha,That feel must be incredible. The highest cc ive ridden is 250 haha so once I can afford higher I shall experience that :)

  • (continued from above)

... accelerating thru 9000 rpm the motor has gone mad and I too must be insane to keep holding the throttle open. The "G" force is pealing my wimpy hand off the throttle forcing it to stay pegged. Passing 10,000 rpm the speedo is a climbing blur but I know I am in triple digits and hug the tank for dear life. The R1 is now sucking the world in thru the windscreen and just as I think, "dear God this is impossible" the front end starts coming off the ground...

  • (continued from above)

... self preservation kicks in and I will my arm forward against the G force to close the throttle. What just happened? Whatever it was only took a few seconds but something timeless just happened. I am stunned. This must be what Star Trek feels like when they accelerate into Warp drive, the stars start streaking by, and the inertial dampers fail. It slowly dawns on me that I have a Tiger by the tail and as exciting and powerful as that is, I know that Tigers can eat you.

  • sa envoie putain ^^

  • I have thissame bike. the power is incredible

  • hahah is the entire motorcycle community all a bunch hatin trolls or what? "duuhuhu not full throttle" - "600's are fuckin lame, you should throw a turbo on that" hahah wtf.. @ mattc1683- 600's are brilliant in the twisties, and turbocharging it would destroy what little throttle you have, but I doubt you even have any because you're obviously not a rider; you just like to go what you think is really fast, in a straight line. so stfu.

  • you should have put it back to 1st gear. you can do about 100 in first gear. I own a 2006 r1. It still didnt look fast though so you most likely didnt full throttle it. If I full throttle at 70 in 4th gear I am still gone!!

  • That wasnt even full throttle.

I guess he didnt want to squeeze the shit in his pants more than it already was

  • Lol, you should be in 2nd for a pull from 70mph... any higher gear and you're not in the correct rev band... :-s

  • @nchannon1984 If I was using my R1 from a 70 pull I'd finish off first...no reason to be in second, 1st still has 30 or so more mph left in it.

  • I bet by now you r really taking off now. When I'm doing 70mph I drop in 3rd.....2nd is jus too violent...the torque is instant but the rush is priceless. Keep the rubber side down....ride safe

  • wut gear pull was that? i have the same bike.

  • @R1Beowulf It's been like 2 years since I shot this, but if I remember correctly it was 5th to 4th, but it may have been 6th to 5th. I was still learning the feel of the bike back then so it definitely could have been better. I was all excited for it at the time tho. :)

  • ummm...dude how fast were you going? cuz it didnt look fast...

  • @SteveO1988 To hell with a gsxr 600. that was one of my first bikes and it is slow as hell for a bike. you can turbo it and still not get as much power as a stock 1000.

  • sweeet!!!

  • Will... I'm not sure that you need something that goes that fast...
