I think it would have gone all the way through easily had the box been clamped down. It's just too light so it got knocked over. Shooter looks really cool in copper, thanks for posting.
@ywarrior1608 Oh yes the tire stem valve. I got it from a car mechanic for a few bucks. Then drilled a hole in the valve just in front if the ball. I used "JB Weld" to glue it in.
@paintballfreak1 hmm well, I'd have to be a lot. The copper is expensive, I'm not sure about legalities, plus I used parts that I'm not sure are available. so...
I want to make another 1/2" pvc air rifle because my old one just broke. I am looking to make the best version possible, but I don't have a ton of cash...
Is it worth investing in copper? or would it be possible to make one with PVC pipe?
Copper is more expensive, but can make smaller guns. I recommend using a 3/4 inch (I've never seen 1/2 inch) sprinkler valve, modified to actuate pneumatically, and a simple 2 or 3 inch dia, 8 to 12 inch long pressure tank which threads into the sprinkler valve. And a 3 or 4 foot barrel that thread into the other side.
If a sprinkler valve costs to much you could use a ball valve, but I find them awkward.
This design, would allow you to change the barrel or tank if you every needed to.
@gizmoguyar Ehh... The problem is that I already have used this design three times. I heard from other people online that piston valves are much better than modified sprinkler valves.
Also, I like how piston valves are much smaller. I saw someone make piston valve with a 3/4" tee for their 1/2" pvc gun... maybe I just need to think harder.
This is the kind of approach I took when designing my guns, I hope it helps for you.
Look around at designs on the internet,
familiarize yourself with the different types of piston valves,
and then design a gun/valve on paper taking into consideration all of the different factors like size, ease of use, performance, and if something breaks is the whole gun trash or does it need a new part.
Plus ask yourself; what exactly are you trying to achieve? maximum velocity? small/compact? etc.
I think the increase in performance is negligible between piston and diaphragm in small guns, It may just be it's size but this gun isn't very powerful, I only made a piston valve to make it small.
If you could find something very lightweight like a small bottle, to use as a piston, it would work. Then the major problem is getting the piston to seal against the barrel, and this is more critical in small guns because of a small pressure tank size. I made 5 pistons before I got this gun to work.
@gizmoguyar Yeah, I heard adjusting pistons can be a pain :d
But they are smaller, and I think that is the main reason I want one. I am looking for an easy cheap way to make about 5 air rifles. Going to be giving them away to friends, but being short on cash really hurts what you can do with the guns.
I've been a member of spudding forums for about a year now, but i have to say, you are the first person who has made the function of a piston valve clear to me. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU X 1 billion!
It's probably not worth my time to go to the hardware store, get the parts, build it, and mail it. Not to mention the cost of copper, this gun cost about $35 just for the parts.
I'd be glad to give you any advice or answer any questions for you to make your own.

@gizmoguyar can you tell me what is the piece between your pvc valve and your ¾inch compressor? tanks and nice job
ywarrior1608 1 year ago
@ywarrior1608 The brass? yep, away from the valve is a 3/4 compression fitting, and that goes into a reducer which goes into the 2/3 ball valve.

@paintballafreak1 No way. it cost me about that just in parts. I spent about two weeks, and about 25 hours working on it.
