Bottom line is, modern society and science dies not run like a disaster movie where "foolish scientists" or someone to that effect unwittingly unleashes the apocalypse. With all the glitches modern technology is prone to, I suppose it only makes sense to assume that a highly sophisticated AI system with capabilities far exceeding that of a human brain might have more than its fair share of bugs. That being said, I believe it to be alarmist to be worried about issues with technology that does not even exist yet, along with the assumption that said issues are malignant to mankind. I'm all for nature conservation but you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of everything else. @MrPingasPower How much control do you think you will be able to maintain over a being vastly more intelligent than you, most of Asimov's stories about the 3 laws are about how they can fail, do you really think a few lines of code is going to be able to keep such beings in check? Spend some time playing around with evolutionary algorithms and you will see just how hard it is to write a goal system that does what you want it to do, and we aren't even talking about intelligent beings.

@khazeem I saw the whole video. I've seen other videos talking about this stuff. It is possible that they are in the process of making an army of AI and they can probably destroy us in a second. The point I am trying to make is, they are not gods, they are just machines that can't survive forever like they are trying to say. The human mind created them, they did not create themselves. A machine always has some kind of glitch or whatever that can take it out or reprogram it.

The thing that is scary about this subject of peak oil, peak water, peak everything is that people just dont care! Lets play this situation that we are actually in as a hypothetical scenario.
