  • He should do that idea someone had where he tells one story in the first half, then another in the second. One of which isn't true, and we have to guess which one is which.

  • You have no idea how quietly hyped I am getting about 4 of your books arriving on my doorstep.

  • @farshnuke why the hell would you get four of his books? 3 other people could of read those books..

    how dare you, sir...

  • @FallOfMind I'm getting Paper Towns, An Abundance Of Katherines, Looking For Alaska and a copy of The Fault In Our Stars.

  • @FallOfMind books make great gifts!

  • the fault in our stars was the best book.....ever

  • John, can you talk to us about the republican candidates? I'm trying to keep up, but I honestly have no idea what's going on and I always understand things better when you explain them =)

  • Don't worry, John! The Swindon Town Swoodilypoopers are my team, win or lose. I'm not fairweather fan! In fact, I love Swindon so much I bleed red! ...Well. You get the idea, anyway.

  • Also, it's comforting to see that someone as awesome as yourself grapples with the same anxiety issues as I do.

  • BURNINATING ALL THE PEASANTS AND THATCH ROOF COTTAGES.

  • "Sunderland, you just got a third-degree Burna." I quite literally almost running through the halls laughing. I stayed myself in my chair for a few minutes instead.

  • 2 things:

    1. I noticed that John had a review on The Hunger Games. Is it really him ?

    2. You should name Ricardo Bunson's nickname to Slicky Ricky

having a nice ring to it, with his 'dashing' hair-do, and he makes good saves.. occasionally.

  • @brainblasterxD ....... no it's the other famous John Green...

  • @brainblasterxD yes it was him.. how could it not be..

  • the fault in our stars made me laugh, cry and read it all over again. It was so beautiful john, and it really is one of my favourite books I have ever read. I hope you continue writing great books!

  • John Green. You are my hero. Your book didn't get lucky, it got amazing. I read the book in less than 24 hours, and considering I'm a slow reader, that's pretty good. I literally could not put it down. You probably won't see this, but Thr Fault In Our Stars was the best book I have ever read. P.S. I cried four times, and sobbed at the end. Because I was happy.

  • my copy of TFiOS arrived last night and I literally have hardly stopped reading it since. I'm about halfway through so far and it's absolutely amazing! Thank you so much. :)

  • The fault in our stars without a doubt is my favourite book.i would read it in one go but stuff like sleeping, eating and beeing ill kept on getting in my way (also as much i love your books i am addicted to my PC) but TFIOS is so beautifuly writen that every sentence will have you deeply moved, in fits of laughter or in tears. no other writer made me feel like i had such a connection with the characters. It is true talent to make people feel this way(this review would be longer but i ran out of

  • TFiOS was extremely luminous. Thank you for sharing yourself with us, in so many ways, through videos like this and beautiful writing. You deserve all the praise that you're getting, John. I know it's sort of cheesy and everything, but I really look up to you, as a person and as an aspiring writer. DFTBA, and thanks for your honesty. :)

  • I didn't get a signed copy but honestly, being able to read the book was enough. Thank you for this book.

  • Hearing an amazing and accomplished person like you talk openly about your anxiety issues to thousands of people is truly inspiring. I've dealt with anxiety my whole life and have always been ashamed for people to know. The Nerdfighter community has really helped me feel more comfortable in my own skin. Thank you.

  • I was at the TFIOS signing in Houston and while we were in line everyone started doing the wave but it would never get all the way to the end and finally this new guy got into the end of the line and completed the wave and I yelled "FINISHER" and people actually got it. It was incredible. (sorry for the horrific run-on sentence)

  • If it makes you feel any better about the loss, I just wrapped up my first season of FIFA '12. You're better than me, sir. And yes, I know that's bad

  • I live literally down the road from Swindon!!!!

  • Stop going up a level, your 'professional' games are frankly BORING. I just skip to the end since it is 98.7% likley that you will lose.

  • @Kobrag90 You actually care whether he wins or loses? I mean, I should think there are other channels you could watch if you wanted stellar FIFA play. Come for the stories and the heart!

  • Augustus Waters <3

  • one person is either incredibly contrary or just crazy

  • In your acknowledgements, you thanked the Nerdfighters for being awesome.

Underneath that I wrote lightly in pencil, "No, no, John Green. Thank YOU."

  • does anyone know what game mode he's playing?

  • "aw ji do... You're s'posed to finish!" in your pants.

  • HOMESTAR RUNNER!!!!!! I KNEW YOU WOULD LOVE HIM!!!!!! french the llama

  • I loved The Fault in Our Stars! I'm not very big on lovely dovey-books, I try to avoid them, and I feel TFiOS was a lovely dovey-book. But in a good way, it was awesome, and I did actually not mind a bit! and boy how I cried and laughed.

  • 3 little things:

1.- Gyan is like the toughest human character in Shining Force II, it's not a shame.

2.- Reality-wise, there is a similar team in Spain as the 'poopers, the Getafe F.C., Came all the way up from 3rd to 1st in 3 seasons, and even lead the table for about 4 weeks.

3.- FIFA-wise, have you tried getting the RM and LM a bit more advanced, or even some kind of 4-2-2-2? It worked as a charm when I played with Everton, so if you want to try to play wide with a little more build-up...

  • The Fault in our Stars was so fantastic in every possible way. Few books that i have read have ever spoken to me in the way it did. It really makes you appreciate the people around you. This book has actually inspired me to do some work at a children's hospital in my area. Thank you John Green for you fantastic and life changing book!

  • The only problem I had with my experience of your book, was on Amazon's decision to ship it at 7 PM on January 9th, and having people rub it in my face the next day, boasting about getting the book, while I had to wait until Friday. But that wasn't really your fault.

  • Thanks for talking about anxiety and hot slices of insanity. And thanks for writing this brilliant, beautiful book.

  • We don't just like it, John; we love it.

  • john, you arn't lucky, people arn't generous, YOU ARE AN AMAZING WRITER! You deserve all the praise you receive.

  • John... Getting great reviews doesn't mean you're lucky. It means you write great books. Thank you for sharing TFIOS with us. It was, indeed, luminous.

  • Where's voluptuous?

  • John, you should hold a contest, the winner gets a spot on you Xbox LIVE friends list. That would be awesome.

  • I just finished it John and damn... Like everyone else is saying I struggle to find words to describe the things I felt while reading it! I was alternately laughing and crying throughout but at the end I really gave in and sobbed for a good while cause it was just so, so beautiful. And apt, and complex and true and... Gah. No words. So well done John, all I can say is thank you!!

  • I legitimately felt all of the emotions I have names for and then some unnameable ones while reading The Fault in Our Stars. It by far exceeded my expectations, and let me tell you, the bar was so high. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, John. It's...it's an adjective that I don't have a name for in any language I know.

  • so basically is Tfios is the ultimate brain crack

  • You should write your next novel about anxiety :D

  • @crazyboutFAYZ12 i agree! JOHN, please write about anxiety!

  • He made the Strong Bad reference about Burna, but no comparing goalkeeper P. Smith to the Poopsmith?

  • My copy hasn't turned up yet but, thank you John in advance.

I can't imagine how terrifing tour is! I have social anxiety and it must be 'ahhhhh'

I hope it all goes well :D

Thumbs up- I never get thumbs up so feel sorry for me ;)

    dftba

  • John, my man, we need to talk. The Fault in Our Stars is the best book I've ever read, no questions asked. I love Looking for Alaska, it was my favorite book and changed the way I look at things entirely. I love that book to death but with tfios, the English language doesn't have words to express it's extraordinary values. But of course the existence of chocolate does not at all effect the taste of broccoli. I've never had a book make me be bawling and pages later laughing while wiping my tears.

  • You really should play skyrim its a great game!

  • tfios is perfect. :)

  • Strong Bad reference! LOL. We're old, John. That Strong Bad email came out this week... NINE years ago.

  • @paleodan Nine years ago? Really?

  • This is how we know John is an author, and Hank isn't. John can correctly use the the word 'byzantine' in a sentence ;)

  • Don't worry, I come for the stories XD

I will root for the swoodily poopers all the way, but if they lose I'm fine.

  • I don't think there's too much luck involved John. You aren't taking enough credit for the fact that you're a brilliant writer and that you have this huge community of fans because you're so good!

  • Im always impressed with how cool and confident you are "on stage" . Even If you dont feel it, you appear calm and eloquent.

I am not much into YA fiction, but I really enjoyed your book. Such a simple and small story, like a gust of wind in the leaves- poetic and moving. Lovely.

  • John, you should always play to win. Don't think, "hey we could get a point" when you are only ONE goal down! Think "Yes I can do this! I will score 2 goals! I WILL WIN, FOR THE SWOODILY POOPERS!!!!"

  • I would think that it may be nearly as nerve wracking to meet you John as it is for you to meet us from a social anxiety stand point. If that makes any sense at all. You are a hero to all us social recluses.

  • John, your books arent getting rave reviews because they're "lucky". They're absoulutely brilliant, artistically and beautifully written, sincere and gripping and utterly moving. They're getting these great reviews because they are fantastic books, and because you are a fantastic author. Give yourself some credit, man. You deserve it. Congrats.

  • I can't believe you made TWO Homestar runner references in one video. Burninator and he's on a rampage.

  • Pretties reference FTW :)

  • I have social anxiety myself. Every day before high school I would feel sick to my stomach and not that I'm graduated I still sometimes feel sick before work. I think it's getting better though. :)

I laughed at the truth in the "hot slice of insanity" line.

I can't wait to read the book!

  • We do have the technology, John. It's called live stream...

  • @MangoX1000 and @arisheps100 If I remember correctly he played his last game as a Swoodilypooper when playing for the Community Shield.

  • We didn't like TFiOS, WE LOVED IT!!!

  • my mom thinks my favourite author is crazy.. that's you by the way John.

  • also where is fat lucas

  • i'm on chapter 7, as i don't have a lot of time for reading at the moment with a lot going on but the book is truly amazing. I love the big words used, i love Agustus Waters and the way he always says ''Hazel Grace'' all the time. The book itself has so much depth and stuff. i really love it :')

  • Does anyone know if in career mode I can change my club's kits? I've brought Dagenham all the way to the Premier League, but their uniforms are atrocious.

  • I feel ya! I also struggle with anxiety and I don't even know how you handle all the things going on in your life at the moment. You're such a trooper! Things will calm down before you know it :)

  • I haven't watch this in a while, WHERE IS FAT LUCAS? can someone link me to the video where he is benched?

  • @arisheps100 Blimey... See TMoST #57, I think.

  • i recently got the book 'the fault in our stars" and it is AMAZING

  • It's nothing to do with the luck your books hold, you're an amazing writer that captures the audience... that, is what makes them awesome!

  • i agree this is my background noise for doing homework. in order to accomplish anything work wise, i don't actually watch the soccer

  • [Comment Removed by SOPA/PIPA]

  • H*R for the WIN!!!!

  • How many people actually come here to watch the soccer? I mean, it's nice and everything, but I think we really come here to hear John's stories. So John, if you lose I don't think it's going to lose that many viewers.

  • Still waiting for my copy. Pre-orderd it at amazon us from germany... but I want it NOW! :D

  • strong bad is made of awesome! TFioS is wonderful.

  • David Beckham as an add before a fifa soccer game. Nice.

  • The Fault in our Stars is beautiful, John. There isn't any profound confession that I could describe it with that wouldn't pale in the light of the actual text. It's beautiful and honest and timeless. The makings of a true classic.

  • TROGDORRRRRRRR!!!!!!

  • the other team has a guy named Cattermole! Harry potter ref anyone

  • @marshmellowmoo Reg! Oh yes.

  • Thank you for writing The Fault in Our Stars and for creating Hazel and Augustus. It was a wonderful read.

  • John, if you read this, I just want to let you know that I have never read a book that more truly depicts true love and sadness. I cried (multiple times, mind you) and laughed just about equally. Thank you for such an excellent book, it meant the world to Nerdfighteria.

  • Your books have not been lucky at getting great reviews, your books get great reviews because you are a fantastic writer John Green and you and your brother are the best kinda people. We all love you guys to bits in the YouTube viewer sense.

  • TROGDOR!!!

  • I got my copy (green J scribble) two days after it came out, and finished it in five. It was truly captivating, engaging, and made you want more. And boy, was it surprising!

But in the end, there was no other better way to end the book. Kudos, John. An author (or a wanna-be author like myself) should aspire to your skill and talent.

  • WooT! I love it when I see another swindon town swoodilypooper video =D

  • Bald John Green must get a lot of fouls.

  • John, Hammell's full name is Sammuell "Camel" Hammel but the u is silent. He promises that you don't have to sub him that often, he's the soccer ship of the desert ;) keep up the awesome John! :) <3

  • AND PIPA!!

  • DOWN WITH SOPA!!!

  • John, I am far from mad at you, but amazon canceled my order and now i won't get TFIOS till march...also it occurs to me that there's a small chance it might not be signed, though I doubt it.

    * stegosaurus of sadness*

  • @eladps He might send you a signed plate though, if you email sparksflyup.

  • @GONEmypurpleflapjack I live far enough away that even if John was willing to do that I would rather he not.

Mind you, I really don't mind that much if it's not signed i just wish it would get here faster...

    kbye :D

  • @eladps May it come on the wings of mercury.

  • TFioS was your best book yet.

  • Your description of having something worthy of anxiety as an anxious person as a"hot slice of insanity"-- totally right. We'll love it no matter what John, and the fact that you face your fears for us is a testament to your dedication xx

  • Yay Bunsen Berna!

  • you got lucky??!!!! no john! you are an amazing writer! that is why you get amazing reviews, and tonnes of fans :)

  • I just got TFioS. It. Is. Amazing. Keep it up, J Scribble!

  • @PuzzleBlock asdfghjkl I hope you enjoy it! I am trying rather hard to avoid spoilers untill I get a copy haha, DFTBA other New Zealand Nerdfighter :)

  • If you go into Team Management and go to Staff Upgrades, you can improve your training so your players are better. May I suggest improving your stadium (Maybe set the ticket prices to high), your fitness and your midfield staff. More money for the team, they'll be able to run for longer and then you'll just have better players. Can I get some thumbs up so John Sees this, for the good of the Swoodilypoopers

  • Also FYI, I don't think most of us really care if you lose the game, we listen for your stories :)

  • I love that you can make a Strongbad reference and use the phrase "Byzantine complexity" in the same video. XD

Good luck with the tour! (Anxiety sucks, I know, but I hope it doesn't bring you down too much <3)

  • Bunson Berna was on fire in this game!

  • its such a blessing to have you and your brother AND your books AND hank's music in our lives. we cannot thank God enough for that blessing, and no john your books weren't lucky but you are to have written them and we are to have read them.

  • Well I have to wait until feb 17 living Australia is awesome. I just hoped it is signed

  • @blue4thefuture Who are you buying it from? Most bookstores in Melbourne have already had some in...

  • Preorderd it in August and Amazon screwed it up. Took them a week to ship and the postman didn't ring (and didn't leave a note!). So now the parcel is at the post office and I can't go get it from there, since it's only open when I have to work. That just sucks.

So no, I didn't get it in time. But that doesn't matter, just looking forward to turning of my phone and everything and just spend some hours reading it all at once. DFTBA!

  • your game commentary makes me laugh

  • please have more confidence John, because I know that you're a talented author

  • I am a nerdfighter in New Zealand and neeed TFiOS even though our major booksellers only sell popular books and ones about sparkly vampires. :( I am sad although I shall order it online ASAP. Doubly sad that I've been too lazy/excuse making to order it because ever since my first JG novel every time I have gone to read one of your books for the first time I know that it's going to be insightful, philosophically visceral and intelligently written. :)

  • @16mockingbirds You're not alone my fellow NZ Nerdfighter! I've been sitting waiting for my preorder, the shipping which cost more than the actual book. But I have the utmost faith it'll be worth it. Order it, definitely.

  • Nope, no book. Also, my bookstore screwed up, big time for me, because they didn't pre-order the book like I've asked. So probably no signed for me!

  • @YamiHauii I got the book, it was properly pre-ordered and everything, and it wasn't signed. I love my local bookstore and everything, but I took a lesson that you might too. Pre-order from amazon next time :S

  • @EvieJanePotter The thing that hurts is that I actually pre-ordered from Amazon first but cancelled it due to being so unsure becuase I have never ordered from them before. I actually thought that my bookstore wouldn't mess up things like this for me :(

  • the part that started me bawling was the beginning of chapter 16... mainly because i remembered my grandpa and the battle he bravely fought and sadly lost with leukemia... but his best day was actually his best three months. your book is amazing john! i even have my non-nerdfighter GF reading it!!!!!!!!!

  • You can stream your recording.

  • @mattabesta his playing would still technically be in the past due to the inherent delay of data transmission

  • Actually we do have that technology.. it's called live stream..

  • Loved the book... Trying to get my AP lit teacher to add it to the freshman curriculum... Also...What if John played happy wheels or QWOP...

  • TFIOS was absolutely amazing. It's not just the fact that I'm a nerdfighter that is making me say this, but it honestly made me laugh, cry, and think about some amazing ideas. The book was awe-inspiring, and I hope it becomes the modern classic it deserves to. DFTBA

  • my book still hasn't come :(

  • TFiOS is wonderful. Thank you, John.

As a side note, I think Ricardo Berna is the keeper's last name. When anyone else has the ball it only shows their last name, and I doubt it would be different for the keeper.

  • People aren't being nice John. It is a beautiful book, that deserves every accalaid it could possibly recieve.

  • That drive that began at about 8:30 was truly epic.

  • TFIOS made me cry in a way that no other book ever has. I basically sobbed from the beginning to the end, but it was the good kind of sobbing that left me feeling reflective and grateful and a quiet sort of happy.

    Thank you John Green

  • When an okay book gets glowing, (or luminous) reviews that's lucky. When TFIOS, (or any of your books really) get such reviews that isn't luck, its accurate reviewing. Its an excellent book.

  • John, as someone who suffers from depression and anxiety himself, I beg of you, please talk about your struggles with the same.

  • "my books have been lucky"

i love how humble you are but the fact of the matter is that you're a really talented writer.

  • I actually bought three copies of TFIOS, then covinced people to buy two of them. It's a fantastic book and I just need to share it!

  • A hot slice of insanity...

  • Somehow I couldn't fit my TFIOS package out of my mailbox, so I had to cut open the box and slip the book out first, and then pull out the mangled carcass of the box--but it was worth it for my green j-scribble! Not to mention thatm for a straight man, you're awfully good at describing hot boys.

Seriously though. I cried at the end. DFTBA

  • "My books have always been really lucky in getting really nice reviews."

John, luck is not what's gotten you all of these really nice reviews, it's your talent.

  • TROGDORRRRRRR!!!!!

  • I haven't read it because my sister took it first, then loaned it to a friend (who lives an hour away) and she spilled coffee on it :/

  • I had lost my bookmark at the time that i got my copy and when i set the book down i no longer needed to use it.

  • John, have you ever considered that your books weren't lucky, and that you are just a brilliant writer?

  • I enjoyed your explanation of anxiety. You put out an attitude of calm (as many of us with anxiety do) but you shared the truth of how the anxiety effects your day to day life...especially with this heighten parts of TFiOS coming out.

Thanks for putting a face on anxiety for the rest of us. An face that never FTBA!

  • Scott Westerfield reference!

  • I love your characters and I loved your idea of how to live heroically in a realistic way and instead of being cliche' it exposed and made fun of the cliche'. Well done

  • Bunsen Berna the Burninator!

  • I my copy of TFiOS got to me yesterday (finally!) and it was an amazing book! usually i'm not really particularly into reading, but books I finish wonderful books like yours in under a day, because i just can't stop :)

  • u forgot to apologize to hank and your family for shaming them o.O

  • John, i dont think your books are really really lucky in terms of reviews, you deserve those reviews. your books deserve those reviews. you are a brilliant and talented author and all your work is truly brilliant.

  • John, there's more than luck involved in your books getting good reviews. It's mostly because they are amazingly relatable, poignant, and above all, luminous.

  • SPOILER ALERT:

    We loved the book.

  • 271 likes, 0 dislikes.

    Like a baws.

  • As Hank likes to remind us all, I recognize that I am almost always subservient to bias, and thus highly influenced (and probably along with most other nerdfighters) by my opinion of you. So even if I, and possible we, by some wild chance would have found TFioS to be less than satisfactory if it was written by some other author, we will love it all the same because we love you.
