dose this allow you to tow during day light only, because if at night the trailer dolly brakes work only not the intended towed vehicle brake lights??????
sheesh, forgot to tell you to release the parking brake at the end, oops, the parking brake engages the rear brakes which have to be able to roll when towing
@brian93ist the car or truck might be a 4wheel drive . cuz the front drive shaft n the rear drive shaft a connected . so when the rear starts moving it moves the front wheels as well. the easiest way for that is to just get a flat bed.
She didn't even put the straps in right, they are supposed to go behind the first round metal tube that she went in front of to prevent the straps from slipping off the wheels sideways.
Thankfully 2-wheel dollies allow 55mph travel these days, as opposed to 45mph. And yes, she shouldn't have twisted the chains up. Those lower control arms will break right off. There are T-hook notches on the frame of every car built since the 70s for that reason. But U-Haul doesn't want to teach all their renters how to use a cluster. I just wish they'd let me use a tow dolly with my Durango. They want me to change from a 3.55 to a 3.94 axle ratio before they'll let me rent one.
@occupant272 wtf. i rented one from them wit my old chevy s 10. n they didnt say shit to me. the truck could barley pull a small pop up tent trailer. imagine a 3500 pound truck. we had fun that day
Good video but you NEVER twist your chains. If those straps happen to give and the vehicle moves back and puts tension on twisted chains those puppies are going to snap. Just wrap it around the axle a few times. Another note, it's better to go for a cross member instead of a suspension component because that's a fast way to ruin a tie rod or control arm.
in this case (Jeep) i think it´s not necesary remove the drive shaft, it´s possible put neutral in transfer case (only in 4wd) i other cases but... will remove the driveshat
unless said vehicle has a 'true neutral' transmission/transfercase, or has manual hubs on the wheels touching the ground ;)
Generally, the main drive wheels should always be on the dolly. When I use my dolly to haul my 4x4, I put it on backwards, and unlock the manual hubs on the front axle
Too skinny for a tow trucker lol

Anyone know if you can get these in Western Australia? All I want to be able to do is tow my track car with the Falcon.

The video isn't quite idiot proof because it didn't say to release the parking break before towing.

I don't think instructional videos are suppose to be FAST. She's taking her time ..... that is the proper way to show someone how to do things.

Is this vehicle a 4x4? If so, then the propeller shaft should be removed from the rear differential to prevent transaxle damage.

what do you mean propeller shaft, you mean drive shaft? it's a jeep not a boat.
lostliners101 2 years ago
In fact, propeller shaft is an alternative world for transmission shaft or drive shaft! Just look on Wikipedia for example!
