Even if this documentary was filmed in the 90's, I'm still amazed to see that most of these legends were/are still alive. It's incredible to see that these giants are still alive when so many of their followers, including John Lennon, died long before them.
Elvis couldn't be overlooked. And Chuck Berry is actually a really nice, down to earth guy. But he is a dick to Hollywood..and if you watch the extras of Chuck Berry's documentary, you'd see how he fucked Hollywood over. His attitude was, Hollywood is using me to make money, so fuck'em.
Chuck Berry is a perfect example of how most successful Rock 'N' Roll musicians possess a drive to reach the wideest possible audience to ensure commercial success. And often times that means having to craft your songs in a commercial acceptable way. Chuck Berry just happend to be in the strange position, of being a black man with musical tastes that leaned toward what was then mostly white music.
