  • Whoa!

Known this song almost forty years. This is so good it's a little unsettling. Thank you.

  • Hey kiddo- really nice baritone! Country soul in there too...dig it bro! I just sang along the 3rd and 5th's above your lead...rang like butter. :o) Dig. You ever in L.A.? If so, message me and I think that the two of us could rock some foundations around here... keep it up :)

  • Very nice.

  • Very beautiful version...Excellent. Thank you.

  • Great voice!! And i think you're so CUTEE:D where u from??

  • Wow! I love the original Jackson Brown version. I think you did a great job! It's a little different but defiantly no less from awesome =)

  • James, that was so beautiful and amazing. It almost made me cry. I love Jackson Browne but I honestly think that your version is better. Please continue to sing. I am going to your website and I'm going to buy your CD. I play guitar and I'm pretty good but you made me realize somethng about playing that I need to do. I need to simplify melodies and emphasize my voice. You play guitar superbly - I'm just saying I paid close attention to your phrasing of the melody and your voice. Wonderful.

  • you show musical talent, voice, and soul in this vid. You could claim a large audience, I think. You need to make some new songs, of your own. You appear to have what Jackson had in his early days. You can sing and play well, dude. Bring your spirit into your own songs, you could be the nest JB. I wish you the best, I think you might have the makings of greatness in you... Namaste

  • I've been a(serious) Jackson Browne fan for nearly 40 years, and NOBODY has ever done his music justice... before you! I would TOTALLY buy a cd of you covering his music (as long as you keep it pure like this video.) You wouldn't need a full band. Keep it real!

  • It's actually a Nico song.

  • @ekvaughan Who the hell is Nico? Jackson Browne wrote that song over 40 yrs ago.

  • @ekvaughan Jackson Browne wrote it, Nico performed it.

  • I'm with sheppydeppy. This song changed my life and you've done a fantastic job with it. Absolutely fantastic.

  • dude this is amazing .

  • jackson browne is my heart, but i must say u sing this better than he does. you go boy!!!!!!!!!! this is the first time i've ever seen or heard of u. you're handsome and have an awesome voice...good luck to u!!!!!!!!! =]

    Barb

  • Good voice!

  • You are amazing. iv listend to this song a billion time today.

  • Can someone please tell me what key this is in!? Db?

  • yeah dude, Jackson's got nothing on you on this track. Beautifully delivered. Much luck and success to you.

  • LOVE this one..fab voice :D

  • If only country radio would play music this pleasant and beautiful, I'd find myself listening to it much more often.

  • hahahahahah *finish* "thank you" you.. are.. welcome. awesome stuff dude. this song changed my life.

  • yeah, really good!

  • This is lovely...I'm a guitar player and I've spent many years honing my own finger style inspired by players like Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, John Denver and others...and it's a great job...but the vocals....the vocals are really awesome. Beautiful.

  • Wow, dude. You really captured this song. Good job!!

  • still watching and still stoked... hell yeah dude.

  • woah man... i'm really impressed... your voice with this song is just fuckin magical. props to you bro.

  • Possible to buy a digital copy of this?

  • Whoa! What a great voice. Perfect for this great song and probably a lot of others. James Taylor maybe.

  • Great version - interesting how real talent isn't afraid to interpret, in effect to radically alter a great song, as in this example.

I have played and sang this song for more years than I care to remember yet I will never be able to perform it even 1% as well as James (well, maybe the finger work is just a bit slicker ;-) )

  • Good job.Heart beating voice really sets my mind at ease. From japan.thx:)

  • This guy is just TOO good for modern radio. Honestly -- he would make everyone else sound like Mickey (or even Minnie...) Mouse. Wouldn't be good for status quo business....that's a real shame 'cause Dupre is fabulous!

  • you deserve tons of pussy with that voice

  • this is rad!!

  • great voice man

  • Fantastic version !!!

  • totally unexpected! your voice is so great

  • I am in love with your voice, i never thought i would say this but i prefer this to jacksons version.... sorry JB <3

  • Made me cry. James - please, please don't let the inevitable mainstream hype and money go to your head - it'll wreak your voice and heart.

  • Wow....never heard of James Dupre before today...this song is an old favorite of mine, and he has certainly done it justice.

  • Gorgeous. One of my favorite songs and you do it justice. Thank you.

  • YOu suck..... Naw just kiddin, you are good. Good indeed

  • you have a wonderful voice!

  • there was so much damage you could have done to this awesome song, but instead - you absolutely did it justice and then some. beautiful rendition. thank you!

  • voice is spot on!

  • great job, man

  • your voice took me quite literally by surprise. after hearing you talk before the song started i turned to my lunch prepared for, i thought, whatever you might be able to throw at me, and had to lunge for my food when the unexpected quality of your voice caused me to drop it

  • very good job.

  • I really love this! You have done a superb job with this song I've loved for many years. Wish I had a recording of this!

  • I Love your voice!

  • Didn't expect to like a cover but this is really good

  • My favorite Jackson Browne song, and now my favorite performance. I would have picked a more natural sounding reverb though.

  • this is bullshit

  • Great job! Definitely a fine performance. You have some serious talent!

  • LOVE it, great job! Perfection!

  • the tempo and voice is so perfect for a modern take on this song. well done, sir.

  • Fucken A

  • James, I want to play guitar in your touring band!

  • Incredible performance m'boy. Truly touching stuff.

  • James Dupre, roll on brother, that was intense. Best cover for a Jackson Browne song that i've ever heard. Love to hear or read someday what The Man ((( Jackson Browne ))) thought of your performance with These Days.

  • honestly the best version of this song i've heard from anyone

  • top notch my man, solid in all respects. certainly one of the more professional performances i've seen on youtube from a budding muso

  • woahhh did not expect that incredible voice. you can go far with that talent

  • Don't waste your natural talent. You should be playing and singing for a living.

  • some presentations on youtube deserve more than the click of a like it button, and saved to a playlist..."these days" is played in million's of people's heads every day...i'll now hear your voice as well...you're as good as anybody young man. continue to play this to your public, forever...down the road it'll be a terrific encore piece when your fans want one more, and you have only one more to give... your set up works. thanks, good luck.

  • Take it from a 61 year old who loves music of this sort. Your cover is excellant. Good work young man. Good luck with your music. Keep singing in this vein. I can see you put your haert and soul into your songs. Jackson Browne's feelings come through. Thanks.

  • Wow!!!! I am totally blown away! Jackson Browne is my favorite songwriter and this is an awesome cover!! Amazing!!!

  • Awesome my friend...

  • Been following you on YouTube for a couple years now. Probably watched all your video's 2 or 3 times and this one stands out. Well done James!!! Must say, I'm getting impatient that your not getting some major radio play. Hang in there. You have a million dollar voice.

  • Fucking great

  • I love this song and you did it justice! Keep it up :)

  • Wow you have a great voice!

  • wow - sort of like an Elliot Smith crossed with Randy Travis (?) should have a great career!

  • Well sung james dupre, your very talented. I for one would pay to listen to u sing.

  • ¡¡¡Cogratulations!!! Well done. Take my respect from Mexico

  • You are fantastic. Wonderfull.

  • you could give Jackson a run for his money and that is saying something as I truly LOVE him. I am subscribed now! check out my stuff if you have a chance.

  • I Honestly like your cover better then Eliot smith doing it and Nico. You're voice just carries, Nice bro (:

  • yeah really nice voice james

  • I heard a cover of this song on a television show last night that I thought sounded somewhat like this one. I don't know if there are others, but the only studio version by Jackson Browne I have heard of this song is the version on For Everyman, which I don't particularly care for. I don't care for the Nico version either. This I think is the best rendition I have heard and would like to hear James Dupre produce a finished studio recording of it.

  • @TheEpisteme I too think this is the best version.

  • in short, this is truly remarkable

  • Good voice - excellent tune. I hope you have success in the music biz.

  • how does this not have more views!??? This vocal performance is incredible

  • Hey James, I rarely leave a comment, but your voice and style left me with no option. This was one of the songs on which Tom Rush (1970) and Ian Matthews (1972) established the sound of laid-back singer-songwriter folk/country/soft rock. As upcoming songwriters in the late 1960s, Browne and James Taylor were both influenced by Rush's treatment of their songs.

Somehow, you have managed to join a league of the most deserving of legends on a song you heard 2 days before recording with one guitar!

  • I guarantee you have no clue what this song is about.

  • wow, i was looking for this JB song and found you!!! YOU are awesome!!! Beautiful, true voice...and noooo, Thank You James!

  • beautiful song, beautifully done.

  • nicely done james you do have a good voice kinda like a cris young

  • its nice to see you doing so many good old songs from Jackson Brown to classic rock, and the singing is incredible!

  • Great song and you do a nice job on it.

  • I think I like this cover as much as Nico's

  • Great cover you have a fantastic voice.

I love this song it's one of the greatest of all time and there are some really good covers of it. Check out a guy named ramrawww's cover of this song if you haven't already.

  • My new favorite cover on youtube.

  • you sound alot like james taylor. good stuff!

  • really beautiful, you have an amazing voice

  • I want to know as much as possible about how you got that "sound" - mics, effects used, anything.

  • I just love it! Thanks so much!

  • You are headed for stardom! Your voice sounds a little like Randy Travis...only better.

  • Comment removed

  • Holy crap....I never expected your voice to sound like it did! I LOVED this cover! I see a CMA award in your future....your voice has that country accent to it.....a beautiful voice and you put so much emotion in this song. Blew me away dude!

  • Nice!

  • WOW... so you look so young and you have such a powerful amazing voice, i loved this , you are so talented!!!! its insane, i just showed this to my whole family, were all blown away. thank you for sharing your beautiful voice.

  • That was awesome! I've been a Jackson Browne fan for 30 years, so I'd consider myself critical. I REALLY enjoyed your version of the song. Well done, James.

  • Jackson Browne's "version" of this song changed over the years. Nico was early on. JB wrote it at age 16 and the lyrics and composition changed a lot before he actually recorded it. This guy does a damn good job, keeping with the style of JB. I am impressed.

  • nico changed the song, changed the lyrics, made it her own. yes, jackson browne wrote this when he was 16 which is incredible and he is a phenomenal poet and songwriter, but if you look up the two versions they are very different.

  • you have an absolutely beautiful voice. you have no idea how much i loved watching this, never stop making music.

  • Stop with the Nico stuff - she covered Jackson's song. He was more mature at 16 than many of us will ever be and a songwriter that is better than many of our most popular artists are after years. Nice job on the cover James.

  • it is great song, Jackson wrote it at 16. For someone to have that much insight at 16. Greeg Allman covered this too. I live the line, "Don't confront me on my failures, I have not forgotten them." Great job coving this. Keep up the good work, young man.

  • Love it!

  • I really like this song, so I was a bit skeptical before viewing. James, that was really good. I like your voice and the slower tempo. Nice.

  • Great voice, James, you did Browne a great justice with your rendition of this song! Keep it comin'!

  • amazing! im shocked

  • Great version! Much better than the "NICO" version in my opinion.

  • Holy Crap....your inflections are so perfect and pleasant...love this...thanks !

  • Great job. I went through all these comments and a long discussion of different versions. No one mentions the version Tyler Ramsey did on his great album (Ramsey is now playing with Band of Horses).

Not to say that Ramseys version is better, because it is not, but for people who like this, I will strongly recommend to find his album. He is an excellent picking style guitar player.

  • your voice is breathtaking.

  • sounds a little country lol but nice

  • @lynrowe it's supposed to be a country song, haha.

  • @ivytreeproductions folk :)

  • @Gaberrz okay, fair enough, hehe. by the way, i like your videos.

  • Nice work, my favorite video of yours... Jackson is THE MAN... and you did a good job with this one!

  • James-Excellent! I like your version almost as much as I like Greg Allmans version. Your voice is great. Don't stop.

  • i don't think you are playing the guitar i that i am hearing.

  • dude ive already commented on this but i am commentating again, this is a beautiful version of this song, amaing effort!

  • This is AHH MAZING. I miss the south.

  • mate im fucking impressed and it takes alot to do that , i love it , nice one !!!

  • lets see your hands... wow!!! how did you get that reverb on your voice???

  • you sing really well..

  • VERY GOOD JOB YOU ARE REALLY GOOD LOVE IT

  • WOW. Marry me?

  • Wow, you are extremely talented

  • this is the mom of alex, ive been listening to JB for many many years.you were very good,i think Jackson would be proud.

  • Quite impresive!

  • Great song!! And a hell of good job covering it.

  • Incredible talent here....LOVE that voice!!!!!

  • Really Really Good

  • Great, really nice job with this

  • This is by far the best Jackson cover I have ever heard, and I have heard them all. Thanks James

  • the key its played in is lower but really nice!

  • impressive voice.

  • I think you did a fine job covering this song. Your voice compliments the song very well.

  • Wow.. Fantastic voice... I say James Dupre wrote these days... :)

  • Such a GREAT VOICE! baahh! blew me away! great work man, keep it

  • James Dupre you are a very talented man.

    Awesome dude.

  • I came across you vid by accident. I have to say.. i love the way you sing. The emotion really resinates through your voice,. I am such a fan. Oh i happened on your videos yestarday. May 16 2010. Great job

  • as someone else wrote before, i also thought you were lip synching at first. but, wow!! what a voice. i really hope your making a career with that voice. real nice!!

  • WOW, a truckload of feeling ain`t bad, especially these days. ;)

  • Gr8 Job! You nailed it!

  • Wow...just....wow!

  • Great, GREAT rendition of one of my favorite songs!

  • I thought at first you were lip-syncing to something, it sounds amazing. Unbelievable man, great job.

  • Damn good!

  • Hi James! Great voice & rendition! I guess you know it's a little slow? It's still a great job! Take Care, Gary Alan Adkins

  • @theoldstoryteller it's only 'a little slow' if you want it to be exactly like the original ... that tells us that you're quite close-minded.

  • @kieran514 Hi! Your reply tells us you are overly sensitive about constructive criticism.

  • @theoldstoryteller

please explain how "it's a little slow" is constructive criticism, it's not, it's just criticism.

You're hearing his interpretation of the song, and you're injecting your preference for hearing covers that try to exactly mimic the original - try to think outside the box.

  • "don't confront me with my failures, i have not forgotten them"

boss cover, good luck on your career

  • wtf this isnt jackson browne. yaawwn

  • dude i really like your cover

  • congratulations on your success....

  • A brilliant understanding and interpretation of this great JB song. Wishing you all the best with your new CD and music career!

  • Awesome!

  • Best song I've heard you do so far man. Great job on the guitar, very smooth vocals. Perfect song for you. We need singer/songwriters like Jackson Browne again.

  • You need to go on American Idol Dude!!!!!!!!1

  • Find some female harmony and get out there. Impressive.

  • you do this song justice. Its a hard song for sure. You do it as good as jackson!!! Covers usually are nowhere near as good as the original, but thats not true in your case. Im gonna be sure to buy ur album no buts!

  • Holy cats, you are talented, honey! That is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and you do it justice. GREAT work!

  • your voice is perfection

  • your voice is amazing

  • is there any cd to by?

  • @briiiOche yes you can by his debut album 'its all happening' now on CD baby and Itunes

  • j'aime beaucoup votre voix :) juste et qui porte :) bonne chance pour la suite

  • awesome !!

  • Where do you live we can be best friends we're like the same person, by the way fingerpicking sounds procative

  • Got some verb on that?

  • I just saw a clip of you on Ellen in passing today. You were singing on of my favorite LeRoux songs and thought I'd check you out, I AM BLOWN AWAY!!! I will be listening to all of your music right now.

  • I LOVE JAMES DUPRE!!!!!!

  • Dang, what an expressive vocal performance. It's the kind of voice that drives some folks crazy with desire, while it simultaneously touches the soul. I especially enjoy how, through his choice of tempo, he gives his voice space to be expressive and flexible.
