I had the same thing happen to my car...all i did was change the oil and clean the car engine a bit and it solved the problem, try that but idk if it works for bmw's
@miloskujovic : the N54 engine is a 3.0L twin-turbocharged straight-6. With the hpfp problem (solved now), it used to sound like an old modded V8 at start. But it is still a straight-6 :)
@polskizubr135 did you get the recall ? and how much was the repair? i'm really considering the 135 as my next car ....but this hpfp problem is scaring me awaay because supposedly bmw still replaces with the same pumps.
@AxLstyle Yes, my car was under warranty and BMW replaced it for free. It was a few months ago, and for the moment it runs perfectly fine. I understand your fears about the hpfp... But still recommend this car... Perfect for everything: place for 4 people and luggages, confort and sport in the same ride, and ready to fight if an M3 comes around :P
The engine is really amazing, from low to high revs (sounds just gorgeous with the Performance exhaust). And all this with fuel efficiency!
I live in Europe, mostly in France. The car drives well on winter time. For sure, a 306 hp rwd car needs minimal skills on cold and wet roads, but if you drive well, no problem at all. You can keep all the electronic on, but personally, on snow, my advice is to run on DTC mode. I've driven several times on snow with DTC and summer tyres,.. :) Nevertheless, better buy snow tyres :D
@polskizubr135 what did they do to solve it? i scoured the internets and didnt find anyone saying the definitively had the issue fixed. even N55 was a problem. but i see ur comment was around 1 month ago so maybe theres something brand new that no ones posted much about?
@Tsz2g4f They changed the HPFP, for a brand new one. A few weeks ago, they also made a recall for injectors (3 changed personally). For the moment, works perfectly well. :)
So.. when the engine is hot. Does it runs normally? like smoothly? I encounter this problem too with my car. When the engine is cold and turn on all the electrical stuff like headlight and air-conditioner the engine will struggle. But when the engine is hot, it runs fine.
@Ezalian : it depended.. The first times, it appeared when the engine was hot (you can see the result on my other vid' "135i in Magny-Cours (hpfp??)"), at full throttle, or when just cool cruising in town..
At the end, the problem was encountered at start, like in this video... Then i went to the bmw dealer who changed the hpfp immediately. Now works perfectly fine :)
Because they have piece of shit HPFP's from the factory, just like many direct-injected engines do from the factory. The tech is expensive as hell and companies are opting for cost-effectiveness over functionality.
i love that noise, dont repair it
