  • heres a real test put them both in deep water and then see what happens.. i have driven and owned a diverse amount of atvs and ill take the yamaha hands down. The bs AWD is a full time diff lock. Put the yamaha in diff lock before it comes to a log and u wont have to stop either. the only credit i give polaris is a smooth ride and trying so hard at bias reviews to make their quads look so good. Its just a fancy version of the chinese stuff u buy at pep boys

  • Can the polaris anticipate the terrain ahead? I can put my Grizzly in 4x4 before I hit the mud. The polaris has to spin first before it goes into 4x4. The polaris is alot heavier than the Grizzly and has a shifter like a tractor.The grizzly also has 4 wheel diff lock .

  • Yes I do know how polaris talks about how good they are and they run ther mouth.Then putting there machines up aganst lesser quads.I have had more then a few polaris's and there junk.I now ride cat, lets just say There more of a Quad then polaris.There even built stronger.But I used to like polaris but just to many problems.

  • Cant beat a Grizz! Still have wires or brake line hangin out by the rear A-arm to get snagged, dont have wide arc A-arms like the grizz, and certainly doesnt have Ultramatic® transmission which is amazing let me tell you, and last but not least if you have anymore engine braking then the grizz in the winter the tires lock up anyhow so its useless, possibly on loose terrain to. Buy a grizz and be happy!. P.S. nice that they compare a single to a twin??

  • All that that handle bar test proves is that grizzly handlebars move more when it goes over a bump. not that the steering is easier because it is impossible for the steering to be easier with the sportsman weighning 155 more pounds than the grizz.

  • that engine overheating test sucks it doesn't prove anything. every companee has a different heat light. so this means polaris needs their light to come on alot sooner. all the other companees set their lights to go on sooner, before your engine blows up.

  • ya It may have more suspension travel but grizzly has wide ark a -arms wich allows you to use 5 more full inches of ground clearance polaris sucks they think big and powerful is the only good thing about a quad.

  • u know at the time from 4:03 to 4:55 ur not in control of ur bike the did not even put it into 4wd and it went. everytime i go riding sometimes i want the rear tires to spin and with the grizz ur in conrol.

  • Its might have some to do with the make of the ATV but it is also rider error.  Just because some of your friends or anyone elses polaris or cat or whatever breakes doesnt make one company any better than the other. I myself own an 09 Sportsman Xp 850 like the one shown and i havent recorded any mishaps on my new or old one that ive had for 5 years.

  • I ride a Yamaha Grizzly 700 SE. 08 model, bought less than a ear ago. I have over 1500 miles on it and I ride it like I stole it. I have several friends who have Polaris machines, have owned them longer and have fewer miles, and ride them more....."sanely" than I ride My Grizzly. They have all had their machines in the shop to get broken stuff repaired...belts, electronics, etc. etc. How many times has my Grizz been in the shop? ZERO. Nuff said.

  • active descent control is pure shit.. because theire is something on a atv thats called BRAKE!!! and it's slower thant my atv in reverse!! Second, power steering is also a waste of money cause when you see a bump you just release the throtle and go over it slowly. And that fucking 4wd system that never work is also a piece of shit i've unstock 2 polaris last year cause their super 4wd system did'nt work. And of course it feels confortable, it's so heavy that it cruched everything in its path...

  • Yes, you are very stupid. 95 percent of ATVs with a cvt have a thing called engine breaking, because you cant downshift to slow down. with the Sportsmans awd, the engine breaking only went to rear wheels, which made for shit engine breaking becauce the rear end would lock up. all active decent control does is give engine breaking to the front wheels, which an ATV with a regular 4x4 system would have.

  • that's why belt drive is shit... and i understant what active descent control does... but 5 mph is ridiculously slow...

Both the grizzly 700 and the sportsman 850 xp are the flagship 4x4s from both companies, and both are available with power steering and thus a comparison between the two would be justified? If your looking for a top end big boar, you are going to compare the xp to the griz. I know my facts. I guarantee you i know more about ATVs than most people do. i just wanted to get under UpNorths skin

  • stumps, mud, water or whatever. The Grizzly is lighter, more munuaverable, and works much better in tight situations. Weight means ALOT and the Grizzly is much lighter. The belt on the Poalris will brake much easier. The Grizzlys all wheel engine braking is much better that's complete bullshit. And yeah the sportsman is hard to overheat but IN THE REAL REAL world what are your chances of overheating the Grizzly when taking it through a trial?

  • For the traction theory first off Grizzlys is better than eletric and the tires of the sportsman (however good the traction system may be) have to slip before it gives traction to all the wheels when the Grizzly ...you can just choose to lock the diff lock and not suffer loosing traction first. Yeah it has 0.4 inches (virtually nothing) more ground clearance but it weighs 186 more pounds and WILL sink into the mud deeper. That's 186 more pounds of weight it has to muscle through rocks...

  • i don't buy the easier steering bullshit. These are all specific test set up to make the sportsman look better there not even testing them offroad or anything or on a trial. I'll wait for the magazigne reviews to tell which one has better steering. The Grizzly didn't differ mcuh in their test on steering pressure than the Brute force am I missing something the Grizzly steers WAY better. Proof of bullshit. The traction thing is bullshit to. With all Polaris eletrical componants it can brake down.
