If remembrance day is to remember and pay tribute to the solders of all wars why are german veterans not marching with our troops,all other nations do so ,its about time.
@fastfire97 Well it sounds like a nice idea but I know that if my Grandad was still alive he would absolutely hate that idea. He could never forgive the Germans for the atrocities the inflicted on his fellow soldiers. So for him, and people like him, I guess that is the reason it doesn't happen. But it may do one day in this PC world of ours. Personally I feel each country should do their own - job done.
Thank you. You are right. He did feel invincible. I'm glad he lieved to. Partly because I'd have never been born. I find it hard to comprehend his valour but I am extremely proud. All soldiers are brave. But this level of risk was so high. He took on seven other men in one go, and came out the only survivor. This inspried his KOYLI regiment and the objective was won as they all rushed froward. He died of old age in 1964 when I was three. Wish I could have talked to him about this.

His medals, along with at least 150 other VCs are due to go on public display in 2010 in the Imperial War Museum. They are all amazing, moving, and fantastic stories showing great human spirit. An inspiration. But also a warning against other such conflicts. Lets hope people don't have to be so brave so many times in future years.

Yeah, i remember reading about your grandfather, and his citation.
I never met the man, but I know how he felt at that age, doing what he was doing.
