  • please look up autism and kranio-sakral terapi

  • I just finished her book in danish. WHY didnt I look this up before :D Like the book though :)

  • All test here are false ...reason why is there is no way to make a control for the human subject.

All humans are taught in a different way...from the tones the baby feel / hear before birth and how each baby is treated after birth. Many studies prove that it all can have a huge impact on a child.

  • this video tough me a lot about the theory of mind thanks

  • This video is dedicated to Christian Weston Chandler.

  • The whole "autistics lack theory of mind" is bogus. It is not a one way street. Autistics indeed have trouble putting themselves in neurotypicals shoes, but has anybody taken in consideration how well neurotypicals put themselves in autistics' shoes?

And humans are NOT capable of reading other minds, all they can do is guess. That is why it is called a THEORY!

And how do people know whether or not animals have a theory of mind? Perhaps some questions out there are not worth answering.

  • @AnElephantThatPaints The theory is not "bogus". The Theory of Mind doesn't mean "putting yourself in someone else's shoes". It's about being able to predict how other people will behave by using knowlegde that other people have things like beliefs etc. It can easily be tested. You're obviously not a neuroscientist, so perhaps you should read up on theories before you call them "bogus".

I don't know whether people with autism lack theory of mind, but they fail theory of mind tests for some

  • reason. I'm not an expert, so I wouldn't want to hazard a guess why they fail ToM tests. Uta clearly thinks that it's because they don't have a ToM.

Also, we ask questions about animals to learn more about us humans. So the question is important.

  • @deandsouza No, I am not a neuroscientist, I am an autistic person. I find that lots of doctors/scientists treat autistics like experimental objects rather than human beings, which has always ticked me off. If they really want to know what is going on inside an autistic person's mind, they should ask them for input, (many are fully capable of voicing valid opinions) instead of just observe their behaviors as if they were nonhuman animals.

  • @AnElephantThatPaints Doctors/scientists ought to treat all humans (including those with autism) as humans not objects. However, there are good reasons why scientists do experiments. But we don't just do experiments on people with autism. We also do experiments or studies on ourselves and on our friends and on anyone really. It's how we find out things. But medical doctors should always talk to people first, and ask them questions.

  • @deandsouza Yes, we all do experiments on order to tests medicines, baby behavior, adult behavior, etc. But when it comes to autistic people, the experiments are indulged and the scientists DO forget to treat them like humans because some of them cannot talk. It has improved since the last decade, since many autistic advocates have been openly furious with nonautistic doctors making superficial assumptions about their behaviors, such as calling hand flapping "pointless"

  • @AnElephantThatPaints I am a brain scientist and an autistic person :) .. the whole of academic psychology has been renamed 'brain and behaviour science' .. its actually all people who are being treated as sub human not just autistic people. thats why i study and practice in nice rural communities where people are still human.

  • @AnElephantThatPaints

Well, they are just trying to figure out how to best teach, though figuring out the mental differences. They also DO listen to people with autism -- see "My Experience with Autism " by this same channel

  • It means that people with AS are unable to respond or react to emotions I think.

  • Does anyone know the term she uses Alexo Syma???

  • Alexithymia means the inability to express feelings with words

  • this is incorect. many other creatures , teach tease and trade etc. if you are ever around elephants, they clearly show a cheeky sence of humor.

humans can think of themselves as 'evolved', Once they finaly get off of the Ego trip that we are any more enlightened than many of the other forms of life that inhabit this small planet.

  • I went to UCL! They were great with me.

  • It's amazing what people can come up when they don't think.

Animals do all the things she describes. Jesuse.

The only thing that makes people unique is language (Noam Chomsky).

The whole idea that autism is defined by the "poor" ability to do certain things fails to recognize that "autistic" children or adults may simply not be interested in communicating with people who are so stupid.

  • Its not just "come up with". These theories are proposed via emperical science. Do some research first.

  • Try asking the corrext Questions, Ask Autistic Children "what dose a bad immoral person do, what dose a good moral person do, and what dose a good person do to fit in? AND YOU WILL FIND AUTISTIC CHILDREN WORK IT ALL OUT LONG BEFORE NORMAL, and it takes 5+ years to really BREAK THERE MORALITY, to stop there moral stand and just chose the fit in option because society projects what is expected at that age...

  • In the first 10 minutes of the video I have the following objections:

    1) Humans aren't the only animals to be self-aware.

    2) Humans aren't the only animals to deceive other members of their species.

  • My dog once tried to get a bone off my other dog by swapping it for a stick. That dog is a genius.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Im gunna have to hi5 ur dog.
